"My brother is a resident. So far the people there are very nice and accommodating and they seem to get along with what they do, but most importantly, he seems to like it there. I like it too -- it's in Bay city and it's small -- there's not a lot of clients there. I live in California and when I called them, they answered my questions. They have a salon and they do bingo. So far, I am satisfied with the care they provide."

"We toured Bickford of Saginaw. It was nice. The facility was fine. The people seemed friendly. We were just astounded at how much it costs. It is very high in price. The staff was friendly. The rooms were clean. They were acceptable. I met one staff member. She was fine; she was very nice."

"My mom is in Linwood Residence, she's in a state that's not well. She's getting the best care possible, but she does not recognize me and don't know what's going on. She doesn't communicate at all; I haven't seen her in 6 weeks and I can't talk to her. They won't let us in because of the governor. The staff are very caring people, and they go out of their way to help do what they can. She's in a better home before, because she was living in a home that only had 6 ladies with dementia, but they're closed."

"My wife is at Eden Fields Assisted Living and Memory Care. The reason we picked that one was because it's close to the daughter's home and my son's home, and so she could see our grandson more. After getting in there, she likes the people she's working with. She likes her room. We got a room that's got an extra bedroom with that, and everything seems to be pretty good so far. We were in skilled nursing before and they were good, but it was noisy and she didn't sleep very well. At Eden Fields Assisted Living and Memory Care, it is better. The staff is good. The activities director has come down and worked with my wife to get her involved. She hasn't gotten into too many activities, but it seems like the rest of the residents get involved with it. They were doing ceramic painting and some type of gardening where they have a little garden that they can work with."

"I visited The Caring Place. It was a very clean and a beautiful place. It had a non-evictus facility. It was probably a 10-room flat, and it was a house converted into a facility. My mom was on a waiting list there because it was a nice place and it was a small group home, so I thought my mom would be cared for a lot better. They had small rooms, and they don't have a private bathroom, but it was located just outside the room. They had home cooked meals which I really loved because where she's at right now, she doesn't had many home cooked meals. It had a pretty yard. They were watching TV and chatting with one another, and they weren't really weren't doing any doing activity at that time that I visited. "

"When my father had an extended hospital stay for COPD, that left him very weak, he needed an inpatient rehabilitation facility to help him get strong enough to be able to go home again. He stayed for five weeks at Stratford and was able to eventually return home. We had visited three area facilities before making our choice, and really liked Stratford Village Nursing Home, so we chose to place my father in that facility.My mother and I ate several meals there with my father, and the food was very good. The staff was friendly, even when my father got agitated and lashed out with some harsh words at times. Their response time, when my father pushed his call light, was rather slow (roughly 10 to 12 minutes each time), and the doctor was only there once a week, and doctors took turns, so the times when the doctor would be there varied, which made it very difficult to talk to the doctor if you had a question or problem, because you never knew when they would be there.Also, the doctors and the six residents took turns providing care at Stratford, so each one would have to have each patient repeat their history when they would see them on their week, because it was a different doctor almost every week, so the continuity of care was broken. I found it odd that any patient in the clinic or hospital affiliated with this nursing home would have both the resident and their supervising physician caring for the patient; whereas, at the nursing home, the resident physicians were allowed to see the patients without the supervising physician present, making one think that the nursing home patients are not as important as other patients.The staff did not bathe my father very often, and we had to request that they bathe him at least twice a week, after we found out that he had gone two weeks without a bath. The physical therapists were really good. They did a nice job in working with him and getting him strong enough to go back home to be with his family. My father did not like the fact that the social worker at the nursing home would hold meetings with him every other week and kept telling him he was depressed, when he was really just sad that he could not be home with his family. My father's mental capacity was fine, and he did fine on the all the tests for depression they would have him fill out, but the social worker still kept telling him she thought he was depressed.All in all, I still think Stratford Village was the best of the three facilities we toured and that we made the correct choice in placing him there. They did achieve the goal of getting him back home to be with our family, where he was able to stay for five more weeks until he passed away. We think the care my father received there was good care, and, we recommended it to my uncle, who is there now. "

"I liked Cascades Senior Living a lot, but I didn't see much of the people. They have a full memory care, right from beginning to a hospice. They work with Medicaid, which a lot of places don't. I liked the manager's energy. It's a locked door thing. They have two parts: they have an old part and a new part. In the new part, the rooms are fantastic but are pricey. A single room is $7,000 a month. On the old side, the prices were pretty reasonable. I was impressed by them, but I want to check them out again next week and see more of the people in the old part. I just saw them eating, and they were all kind of quiet. "

"Auburn Fields needed a little bit work. The administrator told me they were putting new carpet in the hallways and stuff. They were going to be a little under construction, but that was no big deal. The rooms were pretty spacious for a studio. It had a bedroom, living room area and a bathroom. It was nice. When I was there, they had people out in a circle and they were playing beach ball around. So I just stood there and watched them. We checked on the dining room and it was nice. "

"Plainview Assisted Living is very nice. They take really good care of dad. He gets fed well and they find things for him to keep him busy. He enjoys doing group things and he likes it there. They have people come in and play music, they do exercises like throwing the ball around, and there's a person that comes in to do exercises with them. There are people that come in and do crafts, and there's somebody that comes in and cuts his hair or cuts his toe nails. The doctor comes in there, too. He's taken very well care of, and he doesn't even have to leave. With this Covid, he can't go anywhere anyway, and they won't let people in. They haven't had any cases, so they've been very fortunate. The staff is very nice, very helpful, and if you need some kind of help, they're always happy to help. My dad told me that he has a personal chef that makes him food. He loves the food there. It's clean, very nice, they decorate for all the seasons, and they include the people that live there. I can't say enough about the place. I'm very happy with it. Being that we have the Covid, it kinda limits things, but they do as much as they can with what they have. They still do crafts and stuff, and they bring in someone to do crafts with them. They paint pictures, they frost cookies, and decorate Christmas cookies. They keep them busy, they give them things to do to let them enjoy, so they're not just sitting there doing nothing."

"Midland King's Daughters Home was just fabulous. The place was extremely well-kept. My mother got a lot of supervision and encouragement. There was good communication between the staff and the family. The food and the care were all excellent. "

"After my Grandfather died, my grandmother could no longer manage the large house that she lived in. She was still pretty independent but needed some assistance. She moved into a one bedroom apartment at Cleveland Manor for the remainder of her life. The apartment was very well kept up by the maintenance staff. It looked like an upscale apartment. The landscaping around the complex is beautiful and calming. My grandmother had the ability to come and go as she pleased as their are private entrances to the apartments. My grandmother was able to bring her important possessions with her, including her beloved dog. There are many amenities at Cleveland Manor. There is a store, a salon, an exercise area, along with places to walk and sit on the grounds. There is someone on call 24 hours in case of needed maintenance. The rent is very reasonable and goes by income level. The staff is very nice and accommodating. This is a really nice place for anyone 62 or older who needs some assistance but is still independent. "

"A lot of the food is pre-made from Gordon Foods rather than made on site, but on special occasions the chef really goes "all out" with some delicious food made on site."

"My grandmother is in The Colonnades. It is a great experience for her. She is very happy. We were concerned that she was not going to happy and she wasn't going to like it, but she really likes it. One of the big things is that she is more active, and they actually have outings, and she's enjoying going on outings. That is great too. I think the rooms are pretty big. It has a nice living area, a really big bathroom, and a really big separate bedroom. So, I think they are a good size for the price. She is a very picky eater and she says the food is very good. I picked her up one day and she was eating salmon, and they had apple cake and it looked really yummy. I didn't taste it, but it looked good. I think that the one thing that I like about The Colonnades is that it really brought back my grandmother's independence and her being able to go out in the community again because from last June until she was placed there, she wasn't able to go out as much. So, I really like the fact that she is able to go out and to the casino like she used to in the past. I think the atmosphere is great. It is very well kept up and very clean. It seems all the other residents are happy. I do have one suggestion, and she complained about it one time. They can only take so many people who are in a wheelchair for outings, and she has to hurry up and rush to have her name on the list because there's always one person who's on the list before her. "
