"As a resident of Tranquility, I am very satisfied with my comfortable room and it's great to have a housekeeper to keep things tidy and a laundry lady too, both are so nice. Overall I like the food they serve here and it's great that they have an option to pick low sodium since I am salt sensitive and that there is a variety of dishes to choose from as well. No doubt I feel spoiled at times because the staff here is so caring and compassionate, if I need anything, all I have to do is call!"

"We visited Courtyard Manor of Fenton. We were able to walk around the exterior. It looked like a lovely place. There are nice exterior areas that people can make use of. It was a very positive experience. We were able to be on the outside, but it looked well cared for. The staff seemed great, the one we met with anyway. We were able to see inside the window a little more and the room looked very spacious and comfortable."

"I had an in-person tour. The location was excellent. The facility was very clean. I don't really have any negatives to say about it. The staff members were very friendly, nice, and answered questions well. They seem to have everything, so it seems very nice. They had a very nice courtyard."

"My mother has been in Brookdale Grand Blanc since April and is doing well. It's a very nice community, and they are kind to my mom. She needs a lot of care, and they do pretty well taking care of her considering they're an assisted living, not a skilled nursing home. The rooms are very nice. They keep them very clean, and they're very good about getting her laundry done and getting it back to her. The food is fine. Yesterday, they grilled hamburgers and hotdogs outside for Labor Day. They had coleslaw and a nice dessert. She's fine with the food. I've eaten there too, and I'm also fine with it. It's very pretty, and I like that there's a front porch with beautiful white rocking chairs on it. The people go out there and enjoy the outdoors. It has a little aviary that my mother just loves. They have bingo, a puzzle room, people coming in to do church services, etc., and they're having an ice cream social this Thursday. They do a nice job with the recreation for the people who want to participate. "

"Caretel Inns of Linden has three different types of care. It has assisted living, a memory care unit for people with dementia problems, and another area for skilled nursing. They’re different modules in the same location. The actual one I saw was the assisted living. The staff was very good and very competent. They knew what’s needed for senior citizens. The dining area was very good. They have specials every day or, if you just want the same thing every day, there's a set menu of things you could choose from. They have a movie theater, a little store where you could buy stuff, a hair salon and you could get your nails done there. The family members can get a pass to go directly into their parents’ or family member’s place. You can visit at any time and stay there with them. They’ll get you a rollaway bed, so you could stay with them. The parking was very close because it surrounds it. They have little courtyards and lots of flowers around, and the maintenance crew is good. "

"I love StoryPoint Fenton, but it's too expensive for my brother-in-law. It's beautiful. The whole facility is top-notch. It is very open and welcoming. There is a huge gathering area. The receptionist is right there to greet you. They had the director right away, and they took me to a model room that was set up. It was a one-bedroom and it had a refrigerator. It was very, very nice. However, that was an assisted living senior community, and that was not what I was looking for. I was looking for memory care-assisted living. They would do an assessment of my brother-in-law before he was allowed to live there. He probably could fit into the assisted part of it, but that part was too big for him. It's all one level, which is good, but I think that with him getting himself from his room to where they have to go and eat would have been difficult, because the layout wasn't good for him in the memory state that he is in right now. I also went to memory care. It was beautiful. We walked through it. It was very nice. They have a nice little area where you could go in and sit by a fireplace and watch movies. The kitchen was right there. They only have 16 residents, which is nice. They were finishing up lunch when I got there. They have several little areas where you could sit down and have a conversation or play a game. The windows were on each side of a nice wide hallway. They showed me a room that my brother-in-law would have. It was a studio. Somebody had just moved out of there, and they were in the process of painting it and getting it freshened up for the next person to come in. It had a nice view out the window where you could put a bird feeder or whatever. All of his furniture could go in the room, too. Then the staff showed me where the patio was, and it was very nice. They have a grill out there where they would grill food for the people. It is also backed up to a wooded little area where you could see nature and sit out there. It was very welcoming and very comfortable. I told her that I would move in there myself right now, so that part of it was very, very nice. The residents that were there were more in line with what level my brother-in-law was at physically. He's very mobile, and he has no medical issues with his heart, legs, or lungs -- nothing. It is just his mind right now is having a problem. If money were not an object, I would have him go to StoryPoint just because of the aesthetics of everything."

"My dad moved into the memory care section in The Pines of Goodrich. They're able to take care of his needs, and it's almost like they can offer some of the services in a nursing home. I'm pretty happy with the staff. I like how clean the place is."

"Vicinia Gardens is newer, and it has smaller ratio. There are only 20 residents, so my parent gets more individualized attention. It is typical with any assisted living facility, so the rooms are very small. There is not even a private bedroom. However, the room seems to be functioning well, and he seems to be getting the care that he should be getting there. He has only been there for a couple of months now. They have more of a family atmosphere, since there are only 20 residents living there. The staff is wonderful too. "

"We visited Vassar Fields, and it seemed very good. There were people my parents knew who were living there so they were considering it at that time. They had arts and crafts and bingo. They had a room where people could come in, have popcorn, and watch movies and shows. They also have entertainment coming in from the outside. We visited the assisted living part, and I noticed that the independent living places seemed to be larger compared to the assisted living ones. They also didn't have a full kitchen. It was more of a room with a bathroom like a hotel suite, which is nice, but it didn't have kitchen facilities. The facility is also older."

"Shadowtree Lodge was very good. We were accepted there but they had to decline because they didn't have the 24-hour care that my dad needed. The staff was very friendly. I wish we could have gotten him in that place. It was nice. They had a bunch of board games and stuff. I saw the kitchen and the laundry room. It was just like a regular house. They had a big kitchen table where all the residents had dinner there. It was really nice and really clean. It looked like a lodge in the middle of the woods. It's beautiful."

"Bickford of Saginaw seemed more friendly than the other location we visited, and they seemed to be on top of their game better. It was a little bit bigger and it seemed to be comfortable. They had everything, like the salon, the exercises, and the rehabilitation area. The dining area was nice. It was located near restaurants, but a little farther from the hospital. The room that we saw was OK. It could fit a double bed and it had a little kitchenette area and a bathroom."
