"I went to New Haven Foster Care. The rooms were good sized. I liked that it was homey. It felt like you were in a house, although it had lots of bedrooms. They had a common area. Someone could stay in their room and not feel cramped and they could come out to the common area as they wished. The place was neat. The residents were watching TV. There weren't any planned activities going on. The staff person when I was there was pleasant and delightful, answered all my questions and told me things I didn't know I needed to know. The dining area was homey. It had a nice big table for group meals. The facility was well laid out. There were some larger rooms and some smaller rooms, and the price reflected the size of the room. Even the small rooms were pleasant and big enough. I wouldn't mind staying in the small room. I could spend some time in my room and be happy. They have a big backyard. You could have a TV in your room. There's not a salon, but they have people come in to provide those services. They didn't provide transportation for anything. That's the responsibility of the family."

"We went to Bickford of Okemos. It's a smaller environment, it's in the suburbs of Lansing, and it might have been good for my mother. The people we met were helpful. They have a number of things that they plan to do, but we never really experienced any of that. The staff seemed very thoughtful and understanding."

"My mother-in-law is in Bethany Care Home. We're very happy with it, but the problem is they don't have enough staff members. It's really nice, it's clean, and they take good care of people. They're all very nice. They're pretty reasonable. They're not cheap, but they're reasonable."

"My mother has been in 5 different facilities since she has become dependent from a fall a few years ago and in need of constant care. She now has severe dementia. A friend of the family told us about Highland so we decided to try it since we were dissatisfied with the other places. Our mother has had wonderful care and always receives the much needed attention and care that she requires with her condition. I would highly recommend Highland and our family is very happy and grateful for all the love/kindness and attention that she receives there. It's a very comforting feeling to know she is in such good caring hands. "

"When I visited this facility, I was very impressed with the staff and how great they were with all off the residents. They are so caring for the residents and always go above and beyond their duties. The facilities are very well maintained and always clean. They always eat healthy and are always on maintained well organized schedules. They are very well trained and know what to do in most to all situations. The only thing that I would like to see improvements in would be the communication that they staff and facility has with the family. Whether there is an issue or praise there is some lack of communication. Other than that, the facility has taken very good care of my family member as well as other people I know, their family as well. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone who is in search of great care for their loved ones as well as people searching for a great facility to work for. "

"I went for a tour of the facility and my first impression was that it was so inviting! The home was emaculate. The floors were beautiful, shine like glass. I just fell in love with the home. The residents there seemed so happy. There was one lady in particular that would not stop about how much she loved her home. But, due to unforeseen circumstances, my mother passed away before we could admit her, but I know deep down within my soul that she would have received outstanding care. Not to mention when we toured the home, we were able to have lunch. Let's just say I cleaned my plate! I have been sending referrals through my prayer group. Excellent 1st impression!"

"My mom is at Arbor North. They try hard to take the best care of her that they can, and we appreciate that. She's not wanting to do any of the activities, but they offer a lot of things. If she wanted to do anything, she could. Her room is very nice. I also had lunch with her just last week, and the food was really good. They have all kinds of neat places. They've got a room that's like a library where people can do puzzles and play games. Then they have another room that looks like a conference room. It's got a big, long table and people go there and color and visit. They have a piano and people play and sing. And then they have a nice, great big lobby where they've got lots of chairs where people can just hang out and visit. They've got a lot of things. Plus, they have outdoor space for you to sit around outside, which is nice in this kind of weather. The place is very nice, and the value for money is good. "

"Excellent physical, occupational, and speech therapy. I liked my private room ans they brought my meals rufhr to me. . Activities make pumpkin cake which was delicious."

"My husband did assisted living at Countryside Manor for six days. They have a nursing home, assisted living, independent living, and memory care. Their staff was not adequate to handle someone with mental health issues. They weren't very well trained. The place was very nice, and the rooms were nice. I just was not happy with the things that were said to me. The entrance to where he was in was on McCain Road. It's a very large complex, and it has a double entrance with an airlock. It has fancy furniture, and it's very nice looking when you enter. The problem was his mental health problems destabilized, and they weren't able to handle that very well. They got really angry with me and said if they've known he was gonna have trouble, they wouldn't have taken him."

"My aunt is doing well at Summit Park. It's not like being at home, but she's making adjustments. I moved her in, but there's no visiting now with the COVID restrictions. We can visit through a screened-in window as long as we maintain distance. The staff has been very helpful with the transition. Her room is very adequate. They keep it clean, and the place is as organized as it can be. The activities are limited right now because of the social distancing. The location is ideal because it's close to my home. It's semi-rural, so there's wildlife and trees and a lot of green space. It's very well managed, very clean, and very orderly. They have a good schedule, good staffing, and they communicate well. It's everything we could've hoped for. I did a lot of comparisons, and the cost is very competitive with others in the area. Overall, they're providing good services for good money."

"My mom moved into Victorian Villa Assisted Living 2 weeks ago. It's a small facility and they have a low number of residents. It's just very homey, and the staff is just amazing. They're very accessible, very helpful, very friendly, and very caring. They provide 3 meals a day. They have activities that go on all the time. They have holiday parties and play games, cards, and board games. They have movie nights all the time."

"While attending game day I was able to observe a very friendly staff. They were friendly to me and their tenants. The facility was fairly new but well kept. There were plenty of seating for guests and the tenants. I viewed a couple of the rooms and they seemed well kept. They both had nice looking beds and it appeared that each room has a TV and their own bathroom. I was impressed with the amount of flowers and the selection of the decor. There were special days planned for the tenant such as game day and family day. I was able to have lunch there as well. The food was pretty good and there was a nice selection for the tenants. I have only attended one of the game days, but I am planning to attend more. Overall I was impressed with the retirement home and would feel comfortable with having family staying there. "

"What I liked about Spring Arbor Assisted Living was it was all on one floor, and they have an outside court area where people are allowed to go outside when they want to. They have a nice outdoor area, a nice deck, and a room with puzzles and games. They would do bingo, they would have people come in and do arts and music or do their hair if they wanted to. I liked the way it was laid out. It was decorated well, and I thought the staff was very nice. They have good sized rooms. My mom was in a room that had a separate bedroom from the living room and a small kitchen. They have a couple of double rooms, too. It was set up quite easily for the residents to remember where they were and how to get to different places. They had a beautiful dining room and a nice library. When you first walked in, there's a big area where people could sit and watch TV if they wanted. I thought it was very nice. It was a good value for the money."

"I’ve been here at Arbor Oaks Living Center for two weeks. It is exactly what I need. The staff is excellent. They go way out of what’s required and even their family members get involved. My room is excellent. I have a very nice apartment. I have a galley kitchen, a nice size living room, a bedroom and a bath. Arbor Oaks Living Center is a semi-assisted living. It is not pricey. In fact, I’m not paying any more here than I was paying in the independent living situation I was in. Here, two meals are furnished, and they clean every two weeks. We’re very close to the university and those facilities are available to the residents. In their dining area, there are individual tables. There are four seated at the table. The meals are excellent. We are served two meals a day. Once a week, we go on an errand run, e.g., to the bank, to the Dollar Store, to the grocery store, to the pharmacy, and to the post office. We have a beauty shop that serves two days a week. "
