"We moved our Dad into CandleStone a few months ago and the experience has truly been amazing. We lost our mom October of last year. She was our Dad’s full time caregiver after he had a severe stroke, that left him unable to move most of his left side. As a family, we tried to take on the role of caring for him, but we could not give him the level of care he needed while working ourselves. We made the hard decision to look for assisted living homes for him. Upon walking into CandleStone with my aunt and mother-in-law, we were all amazed. From the initial safety when entering, to the vaulted ceiling, bright, open dining and common areas, and the friendly staff who greeted us; we love it! CandleStone is a clean and beautiful place. The rooms are a good size where you don’t feel cramped and the bathrooms are huge for his wheelchair! Our Dad loves to sit outside and the courtyard is so pretty with its flowers, garden and walkways. Some residents have their animals living with them and we bring our dog for visits as well. We love they allow this because animals bring joy to so many and boost the spirits of the residents! The caring nature of each staff member we have spoken and interacted with has been wonderful. They joke and tease with the residents, which our Dad loves! They come quickly if he needs any kind of assistance, all he has to do is hit his button. They have been great about cutting his food up, shaving and many other small things to help him after his stroke left him struggling to do simple things. Any issues our Dad has they call us right away just to let us know and we truly appreciate that. The strong communication by all staff makes us feel very confident in the care he is receiving. We also love all the activities our Dad gets the opportunity to participate in from daily exercises to ice cream socials, movie nights, bingo, corn hole and many more! Our Dad also is receiving therapy to maintain his abilities after his stroke. The ED Marcie, has been a strong advocate for him to get the continued therapy he needs and we are so thankful. Finding a place for a family member or anyone who is important to you is not easy. You fear they won’t be taken care of or loved the way you love them. As a family, we can say that the staff at CandleStone has put our mind at ease because they treat him like family. They have allowed our family to go back to being just our Dad’s kids who get to come visit and hang out with him. Caregiving is one of the most difficult and challenging jobs there is and the staff at CandleStone make it look and feel easy. They love what they do! If you’re looking for a place for your loved one to be loved and cared for the way you do for them, then CandleStone is the place for your family member"

"We went to look here. I liked the setup of the room and shower. The staff members were friendly and were able to answer all our questions. The rooms were adequate. We talked to the people there, and they all agreed that the food was very, very good. The dining area was wide, open, well-lit, and clean. The facility was very welcoming and clean. It was not at all institution-like. It's more hotel-like."

"What I like about Bickford of Midland is that it's a very happy active place. The residents there were very engaged, active, and social. It was a really good atmosphere. The staff members were very good at asking questions about your loved one and meeting the needs of your loved one. They spent a lot of time going over Mom's hobbies, where she grew up, and kind of her background, so they could get a better idea of things that would stimulate her and help her. They spent a lot of time doing that, which was very nice. They offered us snacks, but we declined. They had a very nice enclosed courtyard-garden area. It was very large, and it had a flower garden. They were talking about adding a vegetable garden and many places to sit. It was just beautifully decorated and kept up. It was just a very, very pleasant place. It felt like a home, like someone's residence versus assisted care. We like it. Of course, those wonderful amenities come at a higher price tag and worth it. But mom did not plan ahead and got herself into some financial problems, so we're kind of stuck with what Mom left us."

"My mother has settled in very, very well at Bickford of Saginaw. They are very caring and very doting on her. Her room is very comfortable and very cozy. The program they have is awesome. It has a lot of variety with activities for all the individuals, and it's very accommodating for the residents. They were playing bingo and doing crafts when I went there. The facility is very clean overall."

We are an Independent, Assisted Living and Memory Care building. We are very involved with engaging in our community. We provide apartments to our residents for them to make them their own homes. We provide care from the very beginning all the way to the end. "We visited Vassar Fields, and it seemed very good. There were people my parents knew who were living there so they were considering it at that time. They had arts and crafts and bingo. They had a room where people could come in, have popcorn, and watch movies and shows. They also have entertainment coming in from the outside. We visited the assisted living part, and I noticed that the independent living places seemed to be larger compared to the assisted living ones. They also didn't have a full kitchen. It was more of a room with a bathroom like a hotel suite, which is nice, but it didn't have kitchen facilities. The facility is also older."

"My mom is in Linwood Residence, she's in a state that's not well. She's getting the best care possible, but she does not recognize me and don't know what's going on. She doesn't communicate at all; I haven't seen her in 6 weeks and I can't talk to her. They won't let us in because of the governor. The staff are very caring people, and they go out of their way to help do what they can. She's in a better home before, because she was living in a home that only had 6 ladies with dementia, but they're closed."

"My grandmother is in The Colonnades. It is a great experience for her. She is very happy. We were concerned that she was not going to happy and she wasn't going to like it, but she really likes it. One of the big things is that she is more active, and they actually have outings, and she's enjoying going on outings. That is great too. I think the rooms are pretty big. It has a nice living area, a really big bathroom, and a really big separate bedroom. So, I think they are a good size for the price. She is a very picky eater and she says the food is very good. I picked her up one day and she was eating salmon, and they had apple cake and it looked really yummy. I didn't taste it, but it looked good. I think that the one thing that I like about The Colonnades is that it really brought back my grandmother's independence and her being able to go out in the community again because from last June until she was placed there, she wasn't able to go out as much. So, I really like the fact that she is able to go out and to the casino like she used to in the past. I think the atmosphere is great. It is very well kept up and very clean. It seems all the other residents are happy. I do have one suggestion, and she complained about it one time. They can only take so many people who are in a wheelchair for outings, and she has to hurry up and rush to have her name on the list because there's always one person who's on the list before her. "

"We have already chosen Sheffield Bay for my mom, and I felt that the whole place is neat. Everyone is very professional and friendly, and they bend over backwards to help in anyway. The food is excellent. But the price is a bit more."

"Auburn Fields needed a little bit work. The administrator told me they were putting new carpet in the hallways and stuff. They were going to be a little under construction, but that was no big deal. The rooms were pretty spacious for a studio. It had a bedroom, living room area and a bathroom. It was nice. When I was there, they had people out in a circle and they were playing beach ball around. So I just stood there and watched them. We checked on the dining room and it was nice. "

"We have found Bay Valley House for my friend. He moved in on November 1st. It's very nice, and we're happy with it. We have no issues with anything. It's hard to put somebody in a home, but I don't have any issues with the care or with the place. It's very small, it has like 20 people, so there are fewer employees, and they're not coming in and out all the time. My friend's apartment is average size with a bedroom. We are able to put in a full bed, a TV, and a couple of chairs. Everything is fine. The menu looked pretty good. They have exercise, bingo, and different activities. He is not able to do much, and that was my one problem with him. I could not get him to do anything. He likes to sit and you couldn't force him to do anything, but I see other people doing a lot of activities. The facility is very nice, the employees are very kind, and it's a very nice place. Nobody likes to have to put somebody they love in a home, but I'm satisfied as I can be there. Some of the bigger places I was really concerned about because they have a high rate of Covid. This one never had that because it's smaller, I guess, and they don't have that many employees for 20 people as you would for 100."

"My wife has been in Plainview Assisted Living for eight months now. It's two miles from my house, so I can get there very quickly. I come and see my wife every day for an hour or two. Plainview Assisted Living is a fabulous place. I have never seen a better place. They have a beautiful yard and three different-sized rooms. The large rooms are very big. My wife is wheelchair-bound so she doesn't participate in any of the activities, but they have different musicians come in and exercise classes in the morning. The food is awesome and the pricing is ridiculously low. I love this place. Their employees are the most caring that you could ask for. The whole staff is absolutely impeccable."

"I visited Close To Home Assisted Living which was a remodeled school. It's kind of an average place. The staff members were pretty good and they were quite helpful in giving us the tour. They have a courtyard and lawns, and they have places where you could walk out like balconies. The upkeep and cleanliness were also average. It's located near restaurants and a hospital."

"My sister was in Caretel Inns of Tri-Cities for rehab. That one was very luxurious. They worked with her, and they were very good. She had a very nice room. The staff was good, but they were shorthanded. They tried to be helpful and answered questions when need be. It's a brand new facility and very high end. The rehab facilities were nice. It was very nicely setup and well decorated. It was like staying in a small hotel. "
