"I had a friend at Tanglewood Trace. I was very familiar with it. They were very helpful. I thought the staff was very good. They had a lovely dining room. I've eaten there with them, and I've talked with the activity director. I actually talked with some of the residents as I went and visited my friend. It's close to home, so it's very good. They had physical therapy, games, and music."

"My uncle is comfortable at Kelly's Hillside Manor. He likes the other people who live there. He likes the guy who owns the place who also takes him to all his doctors' appointments. My uncle shares a room with a fella and they get along really well. The owner's wife is from the Philippines and she does all the cooking, so she cooks Filipino food and my uncle really likes it. The owner takes them out for a pizza once every two weeks and asks them if they want to go to a movie and if they do, he takes them. Don, the owner, is a really great guy who cares a lot about the people. He always talks to them and listens to what they have to say."

"My mother's staying at Settlers Place. I am satisfied with it. The rooms and apartments are fine. The dining area and the food are very adequate. They take them to concerts and play bingo. They do a lot of things for them and have a garden and a small library room. The staff is very helpful and caring. It's clean there. "

"We moved into Rittenhouse Village at Michigan City. It's a very quiet community. The maintenance on the outside of the building is all taken care of. We don't have to worry about snow removal, lawn care, or anything like that. They have many activities throughout the week. They have a beauty salon and an exercise room. They have a restaurant that you can go into to have lunch or dinner or breakfast. They're very attentive, even in an emergency. All we have to do is call the main building, and they'll get 911 for us or whatever we need. I can't say enough about it. It's just really, really nice units that we live in. It's very accessible. It's on one level. We have our washer and dryer right in the building here. We really like it here. We do our own food right now, but there is a restaurant in the big building, the nursing home itself. We haven't had a chance to get over there. It's worth the money to us. Some people think it's too expensive, but it's really worth it."

"I went to Brentwood at LaPorte. The rooms were very nice. My father was there for only a week before he passed away. From what I've seen of the staff, they were very nice and knowledgeable. They had all kinds of activity, but I didn't get to see it. I didn't see anything messed up. Everything was clean."

"The people that work there are wonderful, and very sweet to my relative. The rooms are airy and have a lot of natural light. It is very home-like and a great place. My only complaint is that on occasion they don't change my relative's depends as frequently as I would like at times and they smell like urine because of it. They also forget to put in their hearing aids sometimes and my relative is quite deaf. "

"I recenly visited this facility and found it to be clean with residents and staff that were so kind and caring, like one big happy family. I was happy to know that they allow small pets. The facility had a beautiful fish tank and several birds for all to enjoy. I can't wait for when my father is ready to make the move. This will be the perfect home for him. "

"I'm in Caretel Inns of St. Joseph. I require a Hoyer lift. I have both legs removed, one above the knee, and one below the knee. It's a pretty nice place. The main complaint I have is that I am not crazy about the food. I have asked actually to be removed from their foodservice and to provide for my own food, and they say they don't do that. So I subsidize my meals with groceries I buy and things in the grocery store. My room is one of the smaller ones. It's the very first room in the very first part of the development that was built. It was built in sections. It goes from A to B, as far as housing goes. There's Arlington, which is the part I'm in, and then there's Bristol. Coventry, which is more of the when you come from the hospital, you're there first in a rehab unit. There's also Fullerton and Eaton Houses. The Fullerton and Eaton are a little higher priced. They're newer and fancier. It's all decorated quite nicely. As far as the building situation or whatever is that they're under new people, and they're now trying to upgrade, but it takes a while to do. They're needing to do some replacement windows and things of that sort that are getting outdated because the seals are broken or whatever, but that's about the only thing. Otherwise, the carpets are clean and it's kept pretty clean. The only thing I would say is if someone was planning to bring their family member here or they were planning to come here to ask to come in or to show up at mealtimes and try their meals. I know none of them are great food from what I understand. We used to have more choices than what we now have and things of that sort, and so that's why I'm kind of discouraged. Each house has its own dining area and then they have another big main dining room where they have parties. We have music every Friday in the afternoon. Today, they had carolers come in. On Fridays, they have what they call 'sip and dine' and we're allowed to have wine, beer and then there's usually a snack. They have people that come in and most of them usually play the guitar. Some have their own backup that reminds me more of a karaoke-type thing because it's got all your drums and stuff the music behind it. There's a lady that plays the harp, and she comes in and plays music. We have quite a few activities. We play, cards and games. There's usually something every day. They have cardio drumming and things that people want to do for exercise and things of that sort. They have church services for both Lutherans and Catholics. Each house has its own dining room. The house I'm in, Arlington, has a small dining room. I like most of the staff. Thanks to COVID, many people are switching jobs. They may still have some people that are here and have been here a long time, and then they have a lot of them that they come for short periods. On the whole, I can say I like the staff here. Each dining room has its own kitchen attached. There's the main kitchen where the meals are prepared and then they bring them to the other kitchen and then from there is where they're served from."

"Our Mom stayed at the Willows for 6 years until God said it was time for her to come home. The Willows really made us kids feel comfortable about putting Mom in assisted living. We were very happy with her care there. She was well loved there and was the Domino Queen! "

"Woodland Terrace of Longmeadow is a beautiful place. It has a beautiful setting. It’s all on one floor. It’s kind of out in the country. The windows look out a nice setting. From the main door, it’s a long walk to get to the individual apartments. But there are also doors very close to each of these individual apartments. The staff are very friendly, very accommodating. I didn’t hear any negative comments about them at all. The only negative comment I heard is the cost, but assisted living is really high cost. I would recommend this place to others. "

"I know quite a few people who work there and I know the area well as I lived close by for years and everyone is caring and comforting. The area surrounding New Carlisle is a very close nit family type of people. We have several in La Porte and Michigan City and you never hear anything good about them. "

"The facility itself is very nice and attached to a family home which the owners live in. The owners are courteous, friendly, and seem very competent. The residents were well cared for, and had a fairly strict daily routine. The atmosphere was very "homey", with relatives visiting often, including relatives of the owners. The owner's children are also involved in the family business, and together they seem to have created a unique environment for elderly care. There aren't a lot of amenities here, and I guess that keeps it from a perfect 5-star rating. Then again, the activity level of most of the residents seems pretty sedentary - these are elderly individuals with little independence or desire for interaction. "
