"I toured American House Southland with a lady by the name of Colleen. She was very friendly and open to any questions I had. Compared to some of the other places, when you walk in, I feel like I'm home. The staff was very helpful. She took me around the place. I saw an apartment that was empty, and I got to see what the cafeteria looked like. The staff gave me a menu for the month of June to show me what they serve. It's different all the time, and you have a choice of two different entrees. At the other place, they just have one entree, but at American House Southland, they gave you a choice, which I thought was very nice. There is an area where they can go for movies. They have a library if you want to get books. She also mentioned that you can walk around the property, and they are going to have a small gazebo by the pond where the ducks swim. I just felt so much more comfortable there."

"My aunt will be moving into Hampton Manor of Trenton. When I went there, they had the rooms staged, like a bed and a table. Cable is free and all that stuff. They do everything for one price. It's all on one floor. It's more convenient than the other place. Everything was just nice. I would tell my kids to put me there if I had to go to a nursing home. They have a warm breakfast. You have more options for your loved one. It was very good, well-run and very clean. It's a newer place, so it's going to look a lot nicer. The staff was excellent. Their kitchen and their cafeterias are five. They do lots of activities for the elderly people. The doors lock automatically, so the dementia people can't get out."

"I toured Allegria Village, and it was fantastic. It was like walking into a country club. You walk in there, you look around, and you figure, "Where am I?" This is not like a senior citizen's home. It's beautiful. It was clean and bright. Everything was very nice. They have four restaurants. They have a TV studio if you want to make a video. They have a clubhouse, a pickleball court, a nine-hole golf course, and an activity room. They have an off-season swimming pool. They have a bank and a golf simulator. They have a salon, a game room, a craft room, a small chapel, a laundry area, and a library. My daughter was with me when I took this tour, and she said, "Gee whiz, Mom, I think I will move in here." It was just fantastic."

"My brother is in American House Westland Venoy. It is wonderful. The director there, Cindy, was awesome. She explained everything and showed us around. Everybody just seemed so nice there. So far, my brother likes it. The staff gave us options on what to expect and what different programs they have there. The size of his room is perfect. It has everything that he needs. It's got sliding glass doors to go out to his patio. I thought it was very nice. Everything looks clean and fresh. They have card games, bingo, arts and crafts, and entertainment."

"I visited the independent living community of American House Dearborn Heights. The community was friendly, and there was a lot to do. I liked the layout of the independent living, and I liked how they had a choice for a meal plan. I like the layout of the rooms, and I was happy to see a washer and dryer. They also have a full kitchen, which is good. The person who gave the tour was friendly and knowledgeable. I also saw their dining area, and it was spacious and lovely."

"My mother is at The Westland House. I like the fact that it catered to all the needs that I was looking for. They have a beautiful dining area and a nice seating area, and the residents engage with each other. They have a beauty salon. Everyone there has their own apartment and that's what I like about the facility. They just need to incorporate more activities, but I understand because of the pandemic and different things going on of that nature, it kind of slowed things down. A lot of places don't offer certain things because of that. The food was very appetizing. I ate some of the food and it was very good. They have a good menu and I met the cook and the nutritionist. It's a very nice setup. The staff is very caring and compassionate. I really can't speak about the activities because they were searching for an activities director. They did have one come in, but then they lost her as well. Hopefully, they'll catch up with that. It's a very clean facility."

"The rooms are spacious and you can personalize the room with familiar items to help your loved one feel more comfortable. Mom likes the food. The staff is personable, attentive, helpful and they get to know the residents. There are plenty of activities so you can do as much or as little as you wish."

"American House Livonia was very nice and clean. The only thing was it was not secure. I didn't get to see the rooms. I saw the outside, the living room, and I had a meeting with the coordinator. Once we got to talking and he realized what I needed, that I needed more of a secure place because father wandered off, he referred me to see some other places. The living room was nice. There was a table there for them so I got to see some of the residents and some were on the porch. There was no odor. I like the place. The coordinator was very informative and helpful."
