Nursing Home Communities in Allen Park, MI

"My father is currently at The Lodge at Taylor and he is getting pretty good care there. The place is old, but the care is good. He was in the COVID section first and it was much nicer there, the staff ratio was better, he got much better care, and they were more attentive. The rehab section is just old. The staff comes in and checks on him. I've never seen them do that at the other nursing home he was in. They ask him if he needs to use the bathroom, he's always got water on his table, and he's clean. The dining area is also nice and this is paid through Medicare."

"The rooms are spacious. They don’t go over 2 people per room. It’s a beautiful building. I definitely recommend touring the facility"

"I would definitely look elsewhere. The building is old and looks nasty needs repair. They are short staffed as people call off and then they require the on duty staff to stay who are already tired. Some of the staff is not very professional. Do not bring your loved ones here. "

"The people at Rivergate Terrace are phenomenal. My grandmother has Alzheimer's disease but is still relatively young to be in a hospital so she was very difficult to move into the facility. They helped make her transition so much easier. They are all extremely kind, but they're still all well equipped to deal with Alzheimer's patients. They make sure she has all 3 meals a day, and they even provide extra snacks in between if she wants them! The food looks amazing, I'm kind of jealous actually. They also keep her engaged with tons of activities. It's extremely clean and orderly, nothing to complain about in that department. Everyone was really helpful with billing, because my mom was clueless when it came to that. They helped straighten everything out and even assisted with getting my grandmother better benefits and insurance. I could not ask for better people to take care of my grandmother, and we're really happy with Rivergate Terrace! "

"My wife stayed in Rivergate Terrace for rehab. They're unorganized. You asked for someone to come in, my wife soiled herself and it would be a few hours before you could get somebody in to take care of the problem. They're understaffed. A lot of the staff is not courteous at all. The only place that I found of any value was the OT/PT area. They worked with her and they were very courteous. I had a fight with them about a bill which I don't think was justified but I ended up paying."

"Belle Fountain Nursing & Rehab was very nice. The staff was very good. The food was good. It was a nice facility. I don't know about activities because my friend couldn't get out of bed. She had fallen and broken her hip. I'm sure they had something because when you went in, it had a nice big family room or something. They had activities, but she wasn't capable to use them. The room was neat and clean. There was plenty of room, and it was nicely spaced."

"Heartland Health Care Center was referred by the hospital. Actually, this is the third time for my sister. They always treat her very nice. The place is very clean, the staff is professional, and they have a doctor on site. She get nice physical therapy and psychological counseling. She also get therapy with her memory because she has an early stage dementia. Her primary doctor prescribed a certain type of medicine. But all of a sudden they decided she didn't need it anymore and they want to do it their way. I didn't like that, because I thought my sister's primary doctor who she has been with for years knew more about her medical condition. But they are the professionals and I'm not. I can't override what they say. "

"The staff here is amazing! it is a big older facility with alot of heart and happiness!"

"My mother will be moving into Aerius Health Center. It was very clean and it was a newer place. It didn't have a foul smell. This place had a more homey atmosphere rather than a hospital feel. They had the people needed to take care of my mom's needs and they catered to what we were looking for. The staff was very nice and professional. They would serve dinner, give baths, do the laundry, and do the everyday chores. There would always be somebody close by to assist her. She wanted a private room where she didn't have a roommate, and they would have that available for her."

"Mom was at Westland Convalescent for three months. I liked that they were well-staffed. There's a nurse on call, they had doctors to look at her, a therapist to help her with her hands, and social workers who are on call. There is someone there that you can talk to at any time for anything. The rooms were nice, too. However, they need to address whatever it is that's causing the terrible odor. I mentioned the problem to them and I did notice by the third time I was there that they did get on it. "

"My mom moved to Wayne Health and Rehab at the 3rd week of November. Her stay here is good. It's always very clean, and you don't ever walk in and smell anything. I'm happy with it, and that is why she is still here. The staff is nice. My mom seems to like their food. They have all different stuff every day, but my mom goes to bible study. She likes to gets her hair done and stuff like that here. "

"I've been to Maple manor for rehab before, so I decided to go back there for respite care. I didn't have any complaints there. The place is very nice and very well run. It's got a really good rating in the community. I liked the personal care and attention from the staff. "

"My dad is in a long-term care facility, Pine Creek Manor. He has been there for three weeks now. The aides who work there are very companionable with the residents. The nurses are mean and short. There are three people to a room in a room that should only hold two people. So, it's overcrowded. You can't visit in the room; you have to visit in the lobby. Overall, I am not happy with the place. To get a day pass for him, it felt like we had to harass, harass, harass, harass, and then even when we got there, he wasn't ready to go. The residents are not a priority in that place. The place is very old, and it looks its age. It comes across as dirty. It may be clean, but it's so rundown that it just looks dirty. We're not allowed in the room. My dad is not eating while he's there; he's not eating well. Medicaid fully pays for it, so if Medicaid fully pays for it, I guess it's worth the money."
