"My husband is a resident of Atria Kinghaven for over a month now. It's very nice. He has a bedroom, bathroom, living room and a small kitchenette so it's functional. The staff are very pleasant. He has MI so every time he falls, they call me. They really keep in touch with the spouse, I think that's really important. Once in a while, I have dinner with him. The food is good. "

"My mother has moved into American House Southland. It's been great. They have everything that she was looking for. She has a good-sized living room, a small kitchen, a nice bathroom, and a bedroom. She's got a sliding glass door. The staff is great. Any problems we've had, they've got them taken care of. The food according to her is good. I'd give them a 10 with the way they've treated her so far. The staff members are nice. If they know that she hasn't come down for a meal, they're down to check on her. Value for money is excellent. They have a ton of activities. They've got people come in and sing once in a while, there's a library that's got over 500 books, they've got over 200 puzzles, a built-in little movie theater, popcorn, bingo, and once a week if you sign up, they'll take you shopping for a day. They have everything you could ask for."

"My mother is at Maple Heights Senior Living. They have reasonably priced rent inclusive of three meals a day, and all of the utilities are included with the exception of phone and cable. It's a clean safe environment, and the staff seems to be very friendly. They can have additional services as needed for your loved ones for assistance with daily care, medication assistance, and things like that. Also included in the rent is weekly housekeeping and weekly cleaning of your bathroom. So they have a lot to offer and additional services that are included. It's independent living, but they also have a component where if you need assistance, you can pay extra for that. The staff are nice, personable, and helpful. So, no complaints there. I have not tried their food, but other family members have, and they say the food is pretty good. My mother seems to be satisfied with the food. They have done a little bit of renovation recently. But the living space that my mother is in, everything is functional and clean. They have various activities for the residents. During holidays they have special functions. Throughout the year they have things to do. They also have transportation to take the residents off-site to various locations and appointments and things like that. So that's another plus. "

"I liked that Trenton Towers Co-op was near the river, so it gives you a beautiful view, like in the river room or even outside, where the gazebo is. The community room was spacious. The apartments themselves were a little bit too small. The staff was very cordial. They have a chef who comes every day. They post a menu, and you can either purchase a meal and eat it in the community room or take it up to your apartment. It's a nice, spacious dining area. It's in the community room downstairs, where they host things like ice cream socials and have meetings. They have a treadmill and vending machines, and stuff like that. Upkeep and maintenance seemed to be OK. They offer a small bus service to shopping centers and grocery stores a couple of times a week. It was well taken care of. It was landscaped nicely out in the front. The lobbies are decorated nicely each season."

"Moving my parents into Hampton Manor of Woodhaven was the best decision we ever made. The staff truly care about the residents and treat them like family. The building is always clean, warm, and welcoming, and my parents have settled in so well. They’re happy, comfortable, and well cared for — and that gives our whole family peace of mind. I’m so thankful for everyone there who makes this place feel like home."

"Hampton Manor of Trenton is beautiful. I wanted to go there. I didn't see the meals, but the dining rooms were nice. The rooms needed a little more friendliness to them. They were kind of cold and sterile. The only thing I didn't like about them is that it costs $1500 just to walk through the door with a patient, like for them to do the paperwork on it or something. It's above and beyond what you would pay a month. I like that they give the patient's family a code to put in the door. That was a good deal. They have a courtyard, and during nice weather, the patients can get outside and enjoy the fresh air. They can't get to the road or anything like that. It's a really nice courtyard they could go to. The lady who toured us was very informative and very nice. She also straight-out told you what all the expenses were."

"HFV is an active senior community full of people who are happy to contribute their talents to make this our home. If you are a loner and not interested in socializing then this is NOT the place for you. We are a social bunch and I’m enjoying my senior years meeting new friends and neighbors but also saying goodbye as residents leave here going to their final rest. "

"I moved into Flat Rock Towers Co-op. I like the location because for me, it's closer to my church, to my family, and to a lot of things. So far, everything's been great. The neighbors are good. The apartment is very nice. I have no complaints whatsoever. I was really impressed when I saw my apartment. It's all freshly painted. They put in new carpet. Everything looks brand new, practically. I'm very pleased with all that. The only thing I wish, and all the senior apartments seem to be the same, they don't have any dishwashers. I need a dishwasher, and I need some covered parking, and I'm on the list, but they told me I probably won't get one until about a year or so. The staff has been wonderful and very supportive. They have a weekly bingo and a weekly Bunco. I haven't participated in anything yet except for the Christmas party the other day. The food was very good. Value for money is pretty good. It's subsidized. They're only charging me 30% of my income. I can't find anything cheaper than that."

"I visited American House Westland Venoy and was very pleased with them because they do memory care there. The staff and the place were very clean and nice. It was all on one level. The courtyard was beautiful. They decorated it really nicely for Halloween. It was a really nice place. This was the most impressive one I've seen. For as big as it was, it was just a small place. The staff was very impressive and very helpful. We fell in love with it. My decision would have been the American House Westland Venoy overall alone because it's just bigger staff, because of the activities that they were offering, and the security of the rooms and everything, so we were really impressed with that. As far as funds, it was reasonable and in our budget."

"I visited American House Dearborn Heights and toured for independent living. I like that they have villas that are like separate houses for each family. They also have apartment-style ones inside the building. The villas were at $1,450, and that's without any of the services that they provide. If you want to get a studio apartment from inside the building with all the services that they provide, it starts at $2,600. It was pretty expensive, but it's a pretty nice place. The villas have a small lawn in the front that allows you to sit if you wanna enjoy the greenery. Inside the building, we were able to see a studio room. We also saw the dining area and the living room where everybody can gather around and watch TV. It looked like the place was very clean, and they took care of a lot of their facilities and the building. The people there were also nice. The kitchen and the dining areas were nice, too. It would have been perfect if the prices were a little bit cheaper."

"My mother moved into Westhaven Manor. They are great. They have lunch and dinner. It's three floors, and they have an exercise room, a laundry room. I couldn't have asked for more. The staff members are great. She has a one-bedroom apartment. The layout is perfect, a little tight for her, but we need to throw away some of the stuff that she has. She stays on the third floor, so actually there's a door that opens up to her patio, and she can like sit out there, and that's great as well. They have bingo. They just threw a party last week. They do like Target, they do Kroger, all types of stuff. The seniors are most nice there. I can't say anything bad about their seniors. They are so, so nice."

"I looked at many places before I chose the American House for my Grandmother. Their staff is amazing, they really care about the residents. They are reasonably priced, it's very well maintained, the menus are very well planned and offer choices to the residents. They have many activities and plan trips for the residents. If there is ever an issue they promptly take care of it. They offer good advice for residents families about programs that could help out for whatever type of situation you may come across with your family member. Over all I would highly recommend American House assisted Living facilities. "
