"My mother has moved into American House Southland. It's been great. They have everything that she was looking for. She has a good-sized living room, a small kitchen, a nice bathroom, and a bedroom. She's got a sliding glass door. The staff is great. Any problems we've had, they've got them taken care of. The food according to her is good. I'd give them a 10 with the way they've treated her so far. The staff members are nice. If they know that she hasn't come down for a meal, they're down to check on her. Value for money is excellent. They have a ton of activities. They've got people come in and sing once in a while, there's a library that's got over 500 books, they've got over 200 puzzles, a built-in little movie theater, popcorn, bingo, and once a week if you sign up, they'll take you shopping for a day. They have everything you could ask for."

"My mother is at Maple Heights Senior Living. They have reasonably priced rent inclusive of three meals a day, and all of the utilities are included with the exception of phone and cable. It's a clean safe environment, and the staff seems to be very friendly. They can have additional services as needed for your loved ones for assistance with daily care, medication assistance, and things like that. Also included in the rent is weekly housekeeping and weekly cleaning of your bathroom. So they have a lot to offer and additional services that are included. It's independent living, but they also have a component where if you need assistance, you can pay extra for that. The staff are nice, personable, and helpful. So, no complaints there. I have not tried their food, but other family members have, and they say the food is pretty good. My mother seems to be satisfied with the food. They have done a little bit of renovation recently. But the living space that my mother is in, everything is functional and clean. They have various activities for the residents. During holidays they have special functions. Throughout the year they have things to do. They also have transportation to take the residents off-site to various locations and appointments and things like that. So that's another plus. "

"I liked that Trenton Towers Co-op was near the river, so it gives you a beautiful view, like in the river room or even outside, where the gazebo is. The community room was spacious. The apartments themselves were a little bit too small. The staff was very cordial. They have a chef who comes every day. They post a menu, and you can either purchase a meal and eat it in the community room or take it up to your apartment. It's a nice, spacious dining area. It's in the community room downstairs, where they host things like ice cream socials and have meetings. They have a treadmill and vending machines, and stuff like that. Upkeep and maintenance seemed to be OK. They offer a small bus service to shopping centers and grocery stores a couple of times a week. It was well taken care of. It was landscaped nicely out in the front. The lobbies are decorated nicely each season."

"Moving my parents into Hampton Manor of Woodhaven was the best decision we ever made. The staff truly care about the residents and treat them like family. The building is always clean, warm, and welcoming, and my parents have settled in so well. They’re happy, comfortable, and well cared for — and that gives our whole family peace of mind. I’m so thankful for everyone there who makes this place feel like home."

"Hampton Manor of Trenton is beautiful. I wanted to go there. I didn't see the meals, but the dining rooms were nice. The rooms needed a little more friendliness to them. They were kind of cold and sterile. The only thing I didn't like about them is that it costs $1500 just to walk through the door with a patient, like for them to do the paperwork on it or something. It's above and beyond what you would pay a month. I like that they give the patient's family a code to put in the door. That was a good deal. They have a courtyard, and during nice weather, the patients can get outside and enjoy the fresh air. They can't get to the road or anything like that. It's a really nice courtyard they could go to. The lady who toured us was very informative and very nice. She also straight-out told you what all the expenses were."

"HFV is an active senior community full of people who are happy to contribute their talents to make this our home. If you are a loner and not interested in socializing then this is NOT the place for you. We are a social bunch and I’m enjoying my senior years meeting new friends and neighbors but also saying goodbye as residents leave here going to their final rest. "

"We toured Flat Rock Towers Co-op. The rooms are very large and have a lot of closet space and good safety features. All the amenities that I like are there. It's got everything you need. In the outside sitting area, there's a river right outside where you can sit by the river if you want. It's just very nice and relaxing-looking. The staff was so nice to me and my daughter. She just showed me everything and tried to explain everything, and as we went along with people that we kind of ran into, she would introduce us, and those people would tell us that it's a nice place to live. She was very knowledgeable about what was happening there, the bulletin boards, and how you keep up on what's happening outside like in the area, the churches, and stuff where they would have their bazaars. It was just lovely. I liked her. She made me feel so comfortable and welcome. It was an older establishment, but it was very clean."

"I visited American House Westland Venoy and was very pleased with them because they do memory care there. The staff and the place were very clean and nice. It was all on one level. The courtyard was beautiful. They decorated it really nicely for Halloween. It was a really nice place. This was the most impressive one I've seen. For as big as it was, it was just a small place. The staff was very impressive and very helpful. We fell in love with it. My decision would have been the American House Westland Venoy overall alone because it's just bigger staff, because of the activities that they were offering, and the security of the rooms and everything, so we were really impressed with that. As far as funds, it was reasonable and in our budget."

"It looked great. It was also clean. Everything was perfect. The staff was very friendly. No problem there. The rooms were also clean. However, it was the cost that makes my mother not able to go there. "

"I recently moved into Westhaven Manor. I have not really had anything come up or something I needed, I just come and go to work and do what I can. I have not really interacted with anybody except my leasing agent, and they've always answered my question. But the one thing that discouraged me is that a lot of the amenities they offer are closed because of COVID. They have what looks like a little library and I wanted to go there and look at what kind of books they have, but it was closed. There is nobody around anywhere and everybody deals with COVID with the masks and everything else. I was kind of discouraged about that. Can't somebody open it? I am the only one here. Some of the amenities that got me checked in are not available. I am independent and I do my own cooking and provide my own meals. I have not gone to their cafeteria or ordered any of their food or gotten anything because I cook my own meals. The room is like a hotel efficiency apartment. It is fine. I have only been here for a little bit and I have not had an interaction with anybody. The staff that got me checked in and the lease agreement, they were a five-star staff. This is my first time in a retirement community and there's a lot of old people, but I think everybody is friendly and cordial and I have no bad experiences to report on. I have not been here long enough to be impressed or disappointed. The grass is cut, what little snow we had was cleared and plowed, and grounds are kept well. I think it is overpriced, but I did not have a choice."

"American House Westland Hunter is very clean and there are lots of activities. They offered a lot of services, including the meals. They have bingo. They drive their people to the grocery store, to movies, and to different locations like that. They have a room for playing games and stuff. They have the kitchen area that is open all the time where you could get drinks and stuff. They have a TV room. There are in-house doctors and nurses on the top floor. There's an elevator, which makes a big difference."

"American House was very clean and nice. The staff was friendly, very accommodating, and answered all of our questions. We were pleased, and we’re trying now to convince my mother that she needs to sell our house and move. They had all kinds of activities like bingo and buses that took them to ball games and other places. "
