"I toured Riverview Towers Co-op. It was very informative. I was worried about the space. The kitchen is small. The other stuff is fine. They have a community room on each floor. They show me where you get mail and all that kind of stuff. The staff was very informative and answered my questions. The facility was great. They have benches and places to sit outside, as well as tables and stuff. I like that a lot. It's a great location because I can go to church right next to it, and Meijer, Kroger, and Walgreens are all right there, and we can walk home."

"I visited and they were fabulous. My only problem with them is that they don't have memory care yet. The staff, Kate and Kristen, were both very good. The place was very nice, and that is actually where we were planning on putting my mom and her partner, but they have everything but memory care. The facility was beautiful; it was outstanding everywhere. The location would have been convenient for all of my family members. It would be easy to get to, and the parking was large enough if we visit."

"I spent a year and a half in Wyandotte at Bishop Co-op. I could not afford to live there anymore because my rent was going up by $400. Different insurance companies bring in traveling nurses and so on. While I was there, there were visiting nurses all the time. However, I didn't get involved with their bingo or their outings. I was not involved with activities. I brought in my own food, and I did my own cooking. The layout of the place was great. The problem was that they were having problems with the elevators. When I was moving out, they were in the middle of overhauling the elevators. Most of the residents could not walk up and down stairs, and they were very dependent on elevators. Before, it was run by HUD, and then it was switched over to the State of Michigan. The State of Michigan raised rates, so there were a lot of people who were independent living who could not live there anymore."

"We toured Flat Rock Towers Co-op. The rooms are very large and have a lot of closet space and good safety features. All the amenities that I like are there. It's got everything you need. In the outside sitting area, there's a river right outside where you can sit by the river if you want. It's just very nice and relaxing-looking. The staff was so nice to me and my daughter. She just showed me everything and tried to explain everything, and as we went along with people that we kind of ran into, she would introduce us, and those people would tell us that it's a nice place to live. She was very knowledgeable about what was happening there, the bulletin boards, and how you keep up on what's happening outside like in the area, the churches, and stuff where they would have their bazaars. It was just lovely. I liked her. She made me feel so comfortable and welcome. It was an older establishment, but it was very clean."

"My mother-in-law is at American House Southland. We like it. It's fine. She has been there for 13 months now. The staff are wonderful. They're very nice. They have been very helpful. My mother-in-law has a standard one-bedroom apartment with a kitchen and a handicapped-accessible bathroom. The meals are included. They have assisted living available onsite if you need it. They have daily activities. They have a movie theater, a church, and a library. There's always something going on."

"We have had 2 of our family members live at Maple Heights. It was very comforting to set up their apartments with their own furniture and decor-it made them feel like home. The rooms are good sized to be comfortable and we also enjoy the patio. The staff at Maple Heights are very warm and friendly. Always checking to see that the resident is comfortable as well as how the family is doing. We appreciate how they look out for new residents to make sure they are comfortable and help them feel a part of the community. They do have a large dining room for the residents to gather and enjoy their meals. They have a regular menu for the week (changes each week) but then offer a list of second choices if they would prefer. They have a recreation director that creates a calendar of events for the month. Activities are games such as bingo , trivia, puzzles, crafts etc. They also have movie nights and bring in entertainment. For residents who are interested, they have field trips to the store, restaurants, events, bowling, Christmas Lights etc which my family has enjoyed. We are very pleased with the services that are available at Maple Heights."

"I only met one of the staff members at Allegria Village, and she was pleasant. She was the Director of Admissions. The facility looked clean. It was well kept on the outside and the inside. It looked like they had good programming. The studio was a standard size. They had a large dining area. They had food that could be brought in the room as well. It was like banquet hall style. I have eaten there before, and the food was OK. They had outdoor activities and field trips. They had different programs that come inside. The grounds were well maintained. They had villas, pond areas, benches, and gazebo settings."

"I liked American House Westland Venoy the best. We enjoyed the tour because the facility was so nice and clean. It was a smaller place which is what we liked because she'd have a hard time getting around a bigger place. The dining room was pretty much central and not too far from any of the rooms, which was nice. They're doing a remodel of their studios with a walk-in shower, and that's what we'd like also. We liked the people that work there including Donna, the lady that showed us around. They were very helpful. It didn't look that terrific on the outside, but on the inside, it looked nice. They had a library, drawings, and paintings, a bus to take you to the store or the bank, and they had a medical team on site."
