I find the staff to be very friendly & caring, and willing to answer any questions. It’s clean, safe, and very comfortable. I would like to give a BIG SHOUT OUT to Miss Penny, the Director of Activities, who goes above and beyond (110%) to provide the residents, with fun projects, movies, social gatherings, games of all kinds, treats, (to name a few), and interacts with the residents so patiently & kind, she even has a regular manicure session with the residents! She provides each resident with a monthly calendar of daily events which I love, (then I know the activities happening as well!). As you walk into the main lobby, scrolling on the large TV, Penny does a “newsletter” of all the events the residents participated in, with snapshots, and upcoming events, even the weather forecast for the week for all to enjoy! Miss Penny is loved by many! I’m very happy with the care and compassion my loved one is receiving.

Downriver Estates Senior Living seemed really nice and very clean looking. I had a good tour, and I liked it a lot. The staff was great to me. They all just treated me nice and they seemed to have caring people over there. The room looked like a regular type of bedroom you'd have in your own house. It was set up nicely. They had 1-bedroom units and then some with two beds in it. They showed me common rooms that the residents could go in and meet and do different things with other people. Those rooms seemed nice and big. I saw residents sitting there and they seemed to be liking it and having a good time. I didn't see anything I didn't like in that facility at all. The cafeteria was all clean and very nice.

My mother is a resident of Downriver Estates. It's a one-floor building. It's not very large. The building is older. They are currently renovating and giving it a refurbished look. The staff and employees are absolutely incredible. She's been there for three years and through COVID. I have not one complaint. They did everything they possibly could do to make the residents comfortable and for the families during COVID. They went way above and beyond. They have occupational and physical therapists there in the building, so you don't have to take people out offsite. They have a community room, and they do activities. They also have a lovely outdoor secured patio area. My mother always says the food is good, and the variety is pretty impressive.

We've taken a tour and I only met two of the staff, and they were very, very friendly and very knowledgeable about the services that were available (even outside of their own facility). They were very helpful. The place looked very clean, modern, and very inviting to anybody who would consider living there. It was just someplace that you would feel at home.

It looked too much like a nursing home. They had limited activities, and they didn't have transportation if you wanted to go to the bank or to the store. They also didn't have regularly scheduled outings and activities. It was much more of a traditional nursing home type setting. The apartments were okay, they had a modified kitchen with a microwave, and a dorm-sized refrigerator. They weren't expecting us during the visit. They said they didn't know we were coming. Their facilities didn't meet my father's needs.

It was very neat and clean. The staff was extremely friendly, and they always say hello if you pass them in the hallways. The dining room looked very nice and they showed me three different styles of apartments which were all nice, clean, well laid out and handicap-accessible. The nice thing is that if their memory declines, they won't have to move out because it's also a memory care facility. They have a salon, physicians who go to the facility, and a podiatrist for foot care. They would also arrange for any kind of physical or occupational therapy that the residents might need.

My parents are here. We chose them because not a lot of facilities in the area have memory care and we needed that for my mom. The biggest complain my dad has is the food is not always the greatest, but as far as the staff they are all very friendly and accommodating. He has no issues with his room.

The rooms were nice. They did look pretty except for the fact that there were mostly Alzheimer's patients. My dad is not that advanced yet. For us, it was not going to be as inviting for my dad because he is still very cognitive of his surroundings, but it would be a wonderful place if you have a patient with Alzheimer's. They did say they offer community time and shopping, but at the same time, we saw the residents in the cafeteria, and they looked like they were sitting at their tables within their own little world. They were not conversing with one another because of the Alzheimer's. It was very sad to know people get to that point in life. Based on my experience, they needed to let us know that they were truly an Alzheimer's facility. We were really excited because they would take my father's long-term care insurance with no hassle, but at the same time, it was because they were an Alzheimer's facility, and his long-term care insurance is geared towards Alzheimer's. If you have that need, this would be a good place. It was beautiful inside, the building was nice, and the apartments were OK, but the atmosphere was so different because of the patients not being interactive with one another. You really could tell that they were Alzheimer's patients. However, they were very nice, the staff was wonderful, and the home itself was beautiful. They had beautiful woodwork on their doors, and they had French doors on a lot of the different offices, but it was just the level of patients' awareness that turned us off. The patients were to the point where they really needed to have the Alzheimer's type care, whereas my dad would not have fit in. My dad is still very alert, talkative, and very busy, and those people were not, just because of their disease.

It really looks pretty and nice. There's only one lady who showed us around. She seemed very pleasant. They have a little bus that I'm sure would take the people here and there.
