"My brother is at S&D Senior Living Home right now. He's getting physical therapy and occupational therapy there, and he has a visiting nurse two or three days a week. I get to visit him every week. The facility is relatively new and the lady who runs the home used to work in mental health, so she has a vast knowledge of the types of people who need assistance in living. There are five other men in the community and one woman. My brother's bedroom is almost like a private area. He has a living room, a dining room, a bedroom, and a bathroom. He is on the south end of the building, so as far as I'm concerned, it's a good arrangement for him. They provide his meals, they help him with his bathing and showering, and somebody is there 24/7. The last time I was there -- I believe it was Black Friday -- at dinner time they had pasta salad and a beverage. They only serve home-cooked meals, rather than food from some type of food service. They prepare it all from scratch. The place is very clean. They don't allow the residents to eat in their bedrooms because they're all carpeted. They served my brother a snack too. The weather has been cold here so they couldn't be taken outside, but I have taken him out two times since he's been there."

Welcome to Satchell's Christian Retirement Adult Foster Care Home, our adult foster care facility and our home as well. The Owners Karen and Mike Yens have been lifelong Tuscola county residents. Along with our son, Chris and daughter-in-law Dana Yens; we have purchased Satchell's Christian Retirement Home from Bill and Peggy Satchell. Karen is a retired Registered Nurse with 35 years of caring for people. Karen's start came from Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. She loved her time there and hoped one day to get back to "true care" for her patients. She is excited that we have made it a family affair with Chris and Dana both helping in different areas of the home. You may see one of Chris and Dana's three children at the home. "Timberline Lodge Inc would have been a very nice place; however, they don't accept people in a wheelchair. We were not aware of that before the tour, so therefore we couldn't place my brother there, but I was very, very impressed with the place. The staff and the residents appeared to be happy and pleasant. The rooms were very comfortable. There's a bed and a dresser, and you can bring your own TV and a reclining chair if you wish to, or any other type of chair. When I was there, they were watching TV, some were reading, and some were just relaxing and meditating. It's a very nice assisted living home, and it appeared to be very clean."

"My husband is at Fisher Senior Care and Rehab Center. I like it there very much. The staff have been wonderful. It's a very clean place. There's no odor in the place. They call me when they have to make a major change and see what I think about it. I would very much recommend it. However, the only reason I'm requesting a change is because I don't drive. It's hard for me to get over to see him, and I would like to see him every day. My husband has been very limited in what he can say, and he can't walk. He is put in a wheelchair now once a day, and they are trying for more often. He just fell out of a wheelchair because he bent over, so they're trying to get another wheelchair. He's very limited right now. I have talked with the therapist, and they do things with him. They want him to do more, but he's very, very weak. I can't take care of him, and I'm grateful that there are places. I think this is a good place. I like the way they talk to him. I think the value for the money is good."

"I absolutely love this facility. It is privately owned and operated by some really great people. I have a friend that lives here. He is relatively independent however, he must have twenty four hour supervision due to a learning disability. My friend, Mike, has been in several different homes and this has been the best one for him. I do believe he is here to stay. He has been living in this particular place for three years and has done fabulous. Mike enjoys being independent and is allowed several options concerning his daily plans. When Mike first came to this facility he was a bit skinny. Not anymore, as the staff that are employed here are wonderful cooks and I do believe he has gained at least twenty pounds. Mike has his own room which is very important to him as he does like to have his alone time. He enjoys making jewelry then having staff take him to different craft shows and flea markets to sell his wares. Mike seems to have come such a long way since living in this facility and I am so proud of him and the staff that work here who are compassionate and caring. I couldn't imagine him anywhere else. "

"Northwood Meadows - A Senior Living Community was a well-managed very clean facility. It's very spacious. The rooms were very well organized and set out. It looked like they had a very active community there and activities for the seniors. It seemed reasonable for the price; it just was not part of our price range. They have small studio apartments. They have a variety of rooms. The staff who accommodated me was very kind and very knowledgeable about the situation there and the situation with the residents. It looked like they were just under a remodel, so things were looking good and updated with the electrical and everything. It was very attractive. I saw that they were having some games in the community room."

"Pinecrest owned by Fred allows hospice clients. The meals are excellent and he has excellent caregivers working with the clients. Fred treats the clients like he would his own parents. It is a small house so the clients feel right at home. My mother gets very good care with lots of attention. I can visit anytime. "

"My sister-in-law moved to The Heartlands. What I like best is they really worked with me. I had them over from Ohio to Michigan, and they were really very helpful in helping me understand what needs to happen, and how it needs to go. They were very upfront and direct about what they needed and it was really good. Usually, they do an initial assessment in person, but because she was in assisted living in Ohio, they did a Zoom call with her. I was impressed by their customer service. Her apartment is fairly new. The whole place is only two years old. It's great. I would call it about a room and a half. They have all kinds of things that they work with, what they need, and what they can do. They have a cook on site and she's the head of the kitchen. My sister-in-law has been very impressed with the food. They try to get you moving as much as you can. They're trying to get her as capable as she can be without pushing her too hard, so that's been good, too. She could eat all the food some days. So it's good food inside. They have an activity director there that is really active."

"We have found Covenant Glen of Frankenmuth for my mom. It has been fantastic. It is terrific. They're all great. My dad eats there quite a bit, and he said the food is fantastic and they have really good cook there. There is a huge variety of food. It is like going into a nice restaurant. The facility is really nice. There is place for privacy. They have their own private rooms. The price is acceptable. My mother has her own room that has a little refrigerator and a sink. She has a big bathroom with walk-in shower, and it has nice windows that look outside the place. Overall, Covenant Glen reminds me of walking into a nice hotel. "

"During my grandmother's failing health, it became apparent she was no longer able to spend long hours alone. My family and I searched out assisted living homes near our area. The Lutheran Home, located in Frankenmuth, Michigan, was the best rated care home in the area. I and my father, went to the Facility to inspect the level of cleanliness, care and overall functionality their home. We found that it was a rather large home, with the capability to hold over 150 residents. There was ample, experienced staff and the home seemed t be very clean and smelled like it had just been cleaned. There was a large dining hall where 3 meals and snacks were served daily. It was lunch time when we arrived and it seemed to be very much in order with two nursing attendants at every table to watch the residents as they ate. The rooms were either individual rooms, or shared bedrooms. The shared rooms had two bathrooms for the shared rooms and a heavy curtain to divide each residents personal space. The staff seemed friendly experienced and the facility had a very calming overall feel. It didn't seem chaotic, dirty or cramped. It felt more like a resort though it most definitely was an assisted living home. There were gardens, a yard, parties for holidays and we were pleased with the place in general. They do take both medicare and medicaid, as the price ranges anywhere from $5,000.00 to $7,000.00 a month. If you live in Michigan, and are looking for a good caring, assisted living facility, I recommend the Lutheran Home in Frankenmuth, Michigan. That's where we decided to place our Grandmother and have been very happy with our decision. "

"I looked at several communities in the area and found New Hope Bay the place that offered all of the services and amenities I was looking for. Spacious apartment, convenience of having a salon, movie theater and activities room always available to us and there is always something going on! "Home Sweet Home Manor I is absolutely adorable! I had a walk through shortly after the new renovations and upgrades were completed, and I must say that this is not only a beautiful home to place my loved one, but even a place I would love to live in! The kitchen is spacious, bright and inviting with brand new appliances. The dining area is also large and has a large window allowing plenty of natural light to shine through. The living room is open, spacious, bright and inviting. There’s 4 power recliners, and the bedrooms are also located off of this room. There is a wall mounted, brand new flat screen tv with premium channels as well as local channels. The bedrooms are bright with updated electrical and lighting, all new blinds and window curtains. I just can’t say enough about this home! I’ve walked through many homes in the past few weeks and they have all been very similar; out dated, small, offers no perks...all very “cookie cutter”. I love that this home sets itself apart from the rest. It really feels like a lot of thought and compassion went into the overall design and flow of this home. I recommend anyone looking to place their loved one to check out this home. You won’t be disappointed! I was able to meet a few staff members as well as the owners, and they were all very friendly and upbeat individuals. It seems as though this home is very well Taken care of around the clock. "

"My mom lived at Country Gardens for two months. The experience has been wonderful. The staff was friendly. The place was very clean. She loves the food. She couldn't have had a better experience. We chose a one-room apartment with a handicapped bathroom. We didn't choose a separate bedroom this time because it was easier for her to get around. They have daily activities, which range from ice cream socials, to bingo, dice, and music. Every day is a different activity. They have a courtyard and they have a private dining room for families. They have two activity rooms. They have a library. They have a room with a fireplace you can enjoy. They have a nutrition station where you can help yourself with snacks and beverages."
