"I toured Paramount Senior Living at Chambersburg. It's an absolutely beautiful setting. It's in the mountains. The grounds were spacious, wooded, and well-kept. The independent living area was very nice. The apartments there are large and all one-bedroom. They're very spacious. The staff who accommodated us was the manager of the facility, and she was informative, positive, and very helpful. The dining area for independent living was small but very clean. They were in the process of cooking dinner, which smelled very good. They had bingo activities. They had trips to the local theaters. I can't remember everything that was on the activity list, but it was a very full activity from what I remember. If I could convince my mother to move in there today, I would."

"I have been a resident here at the Lorien in Taneytown for over a year now. I can't get over how friendly and willing to help the staff is, every department and every shift. I moved here with my dog, who is the Queen of the facility. Every one knows her: staff, residents & regular visitor alike are all greeted by the white dog who lives with me. We both enjoy the activities especially the music. I fell in love with the courtyard on my first visit, it reminds me of the gardens I visited in Paris."

"Celebration Villa of Shippensburg was awesome. The fee pretty much covers a lot of things. I loved it. It's clean and the rooms were very nice. They supply you a bedroom and a dresser. So, everything was there. They were playing bingo and the residents seemed content. Nicole toured me around, and while we were touring a resident came up and thought she was the nurse, but she got with the nurse when we passed her office, and that all got taken care of pretty quickly. So, they really check on their residents."

"The Terraces at Westminster appear to be wonderful. They were quick to respond and they were quick to set up an appointment. They came in on the weekend to show us the room. So, the facility itself is beautiful, clean, and luxurious. Everyone we met has been super kind and willing to work with us. It's clean and it's just a great location."

"I toured Celebration Villa of Dillsburg. I was very impressed with the friendliness, the cleanliness, and just the overall appearance of the place. They seemed like they had a really nice program. They had six levels of care. I felt that if my husband worked out there, that might be a place where he could progress if needed. He needs help with feeding, toileting, and bathing, and they seemed to be fine with that. The single rooms were very lovely. I think I can live in one if I had to. Everybody looked very happy. I had a very good feeling about it. They seemed very comfortable. It had a club-like feeling. It didn't have that nursing home feel or smell. Everybody has their own rooms and they do two-hour checks on them at night. No matter what their needs are, they do that. I just felt like he would be very safe there, and very cared for. They've actually reached out to me twice and offered meals or anything else we might need in the meantime. I just got a really good feeling for the place. The one thing I really liked about this place is I asked the staff how much time I would need to give them when I would need a respite, and he said 48 hours. There were people sitting outside, and I even met some of the people that work there, and they were very friendly and nice."

"I visited Autumn House West in York to see their assisted living. I'm already very familiar with the facility. A few years ago, I used to be there every week doing communions for the residents. I talked with a lady in the office who also interviewed me and was impressed with the facility and its offerings. The staff is very nice and always right on top of everything. I find the facility very clean."

"We selected Inspirations Memory Care of Westminster because it's not institutional looking. It's a smaller facility and more like living at home, at least for our family. The staff members were very welcoming. The grounds were perfect. It's out in farmland, so there are a lot of cornfields around. I would recommend them."

"I toured Nova Springs. The rooms were nice and big. It was all neat, orderly, and clean. The staff who toured me was a lady that was the manager also. The building was very clean. It had a very welcoming atmosphere. It was like walking into a motel or hotel where somebody was greeting you. The dining area was spacious. It had tables and tablecloths on them. It had decorations making it look homey. I only saw one room and the staff said they were all practically alike. They were very spacious. They had a TV, a bathroom, and a nice-sized bathroom. You didn't have to come out of the tub or the shower and hit the commode. There's plenty of room in the bathroom."

"My mother-in-law moved into Senior Commons at Powder Mill. We chose it for a couple of factors, the first is proximity to her home, it's within five miles of her house, and the second one is the amenities, the staff, and how caring they seem to be and how friendly they were. Everybody that I've met has been great. They've been very helpful to us. They've been very helpful to my mother-in-law. They're attentive. I have nothing but good things to say about the staff. They've got an activity room where there are things like puzzles, and cards with the other residents. There's one room that has a little shuffleboard game, a basketball game, and things like that. But then they also do outings. So today my mother-in-law is going on a nature outing that the facility is doing."

"Seaton Hagerstown was nice. The lady was nice. It was above average looking at it. The accommodation was like an apartment. They had efficiency apartments and shared ones, too. Actually, it's pretty shaded there. There are a lot of trees around, and it isn't that far from where I live."

"I toured Celebration Villa of York. I like that it's smaller. It's probably like a one-on-one or two-to-one ratio, I like that it's nice and small. Jennifer was excellent. I thought it was clean. It was nice. For me and my mom, it's a thing of money, to get a studio it was like $5500, so that's kind of a little expensive. The staff was very knowledgeable, very nice, and answered all of our questions."

"My sister was at Transitions Healthcare Gettysburg. She passed away, but she had to be on short-term care and live in a nursing home a little bit. She had lung and bone cancer. She was there for physical therapy, but she couldn't do it because she was in so much pain. I think they did what they could, but I know my sister was hard to deal with. They called me often because she was not wanting to do what she was supposed to do. She didn't want to do the physical therapy, so I know it wasn't easy on them either. The whole experience was not good because I came into it late in the game and my mom was dealing with it. It was not a good thing in the end. My mom holds a grudge against Transitions because she didn't think they did enough. However, they weren't there to take care of her cancer. They were there to take care of her broken femur. It was not a good experience overall. I don't think it was because of Transitions, I think it was because of the situation that my sister was in, and I was brought into it so late in the game when she was already there past her time. They only gave her so much time to start walking and she didn't even want to try, and she gave them a hard time. They would call me because she was giving them a hard time. It was not a good process, but I don't hold it against Transitions, but my parents both do. My mom thought they should've forced my sister to do stuff, but they couldn't, according to what I was told. Everything was clean, and they tried to do what they could and the connection was there, but I was brought in at the end, so it was already a mess. The staff was very accommodating. I know my sister didn't want to eat anything either, so they had issues with her eating, but they allowed her to bring in stuff from outside until the COVID took over, and then they said no more stuff from outside because of COVID. I didn't see anything that was disturbing to me. I thought it was a good facility."

"I went to tour for possible placement of a family member. I work in the healthcare industry and am very familiar with skilled nursing facilities. Don't let the "oldness" of the building scare you. I would rather know my loved one is being cared for like a family member then to see fancy a chandelier. Staff were very friendly and helpful and residents seemed content. Very pleased with my experience and would recommend to family and friends. "

"My dad will be moving into Morning Glory Assisted Living. The staff was very personable. The whole thing puts you in mind of an old boarding house. There are only 12 residents in total, and it's run by a family. I met both owners and two of the staff. They interact with the residents. It gives you that homey feeling. Everything looks clean and up-to-date. It's all home-cooked food, and it looks pretty good to me. They have a nice big front porch that they have chairs set up. They can go out and sit on the porch. It looks like a house. It's in town, so you are kind of limited as to the space you have, but I think they do well with what they have. The staff members were really cordial and very open about everything."

"The facility is clean and beautiful and the nurses are caring and excellent! All procedures for medical issues and needs are followed perfectly. The nurses really take the time and sometimes their own personal money to spoil the residents. All the people there are clean, happy, friendly and classy. It really is more of a hotel stay than an assisted living facility. There are concerts, bus trips, community sales and shopping, which keep everyone on campus happy. It really is a first class experience all the way. My grandmother and my poppop gave all of their money to the independent apartments first, so it is a comfort that the Brethren Home's policy is to never kick a resident out for lack of funds. There are wonderful events and activities for her. We really like the doctors and services for rehab. I will say that they continually move her around and switch rooms, which I feel is very detrimental to her dementia, although they disagree. I even got the department of aging involved in order to see what her legal rights are, as far as the marketing people shifting residents around to make room for paying customers. That experience was extremely frustrating and wrong on their part. "
