Assisted Living Communities in Oil City, PA

"Overall, this is a nice facility. Rooms are nice and I hear the food isn't too bad for this type of facility. The best part is that the employees engage residents in games and fun things in the evenings to keep them occupied. For example, a bingo game among residents is always a blast. The negative part has to do with the employees' qualifications. They seem to not be very knowledgeable and one time my great grandpa left the facility (he was very forgetful) and none of the members of the staff even knew he was gone. We drove by and saw him walking on a bridge saying he was going to climb a mountain. That's completely uncalled for. Other than that incident, it seems like a nice place for the elderly who can't take care of themselves. It's also at a great location with a beautiful view of the river and trees. One additional negative, I suppose is the smell but that comes with assisted living facilities. "

"A great homey environment, very clean inviting! The staff has done a very good job of making Juniper a safe but fun place for your loved ones! "

"I was at Oakwood Heights before, and it was very clean, and everything was updated. The food was good, and if you didn't like what they were having, you just tell them and they make whatever you want. The living atmosphere was also very nice. They took me outside and we made flower boxes. They had a beauty shop, and good recreation. They have people from other places that come there to play cards and that kind of stuff. The rooms were very nice too. They just remodeled it. The paint was fresh, the beds and everything were clean, and you had your own bathroom. If you don't want to stay in your room, you could go out to a sitting area where they have tables, chairs, and a big TV. They have a refrigerator where you put your snack in, and the staff was very nice. They made sure that you had the right medicine. It's all worth your money."

"Well as I stated above I was not in the facility but my Uncle George was. This was the first time I have ever had any experience with this type of facility and I was about 25 years old at the time. Never having any familiarity with a nursing home I did not know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised! I found the facility extremely clean and it didn't have that "institutional" smell so associated with medical places! I found that the staff, tho somewhat appearing to be overworked, were very kind to the patients under their care and quite happy to answer the mundane questions that the visitors or relatives of the patients. The food did not smell bad to me and I was informed by several patients that it was quite tasty, I am assuming that it did have nutritional value as I had no way of disproving or proving this statement. All in all I believe that Golden Living Center is a nice, well cared for, competent place to put your loved ones in the event that they need this type of institutional care. "

"We chose The Caring Place for my grandmother. Location-wise, we were trying to bring my grandmother closer to us. My husband and I went over, and upon first walking into the building, the staff was very, very friendly and very nice. All the residents there allowed us to view their rooms and how they have been set up to give us some different ideas of what we could do. It is extremely clean and very, very quiet. The staff explained the different activities and services available to the residents."
