"The Residence at Whitehall was nice. The staff seemed very nice. Their independent living area was what we were looking for with 1 and/or 2 bedrooms. It was very spacious and seemed very safe. They allowed pets, too."

"I visited Paramount Senior Living and it was a very nice facility. However, it was also very expensive. We just saw one person who answered the questions. It was a bigger facility and there were different kinds of rooms. There was a multitude of sections and types of living. I would recommend this facility if you could afford it. "

"We wanted my great grandmother to be as comfortable as possible, and it was not very easy to find at first. Then we found Grand Residence in Upper St. Clair near Pittsburgh, PA. It was by far one of the nicest places we visited. The staff was friendly, but not too overbearing. My great grandmother did not want to feel like a burden, and they made her feel comfortable. Despite the nice staff, the cleanliness, the nice decor my grandmother really enjoyed making friends and going places. The only 'con' we could possibly find with this place was the reason my great grandmother had to leave, it was the expense. I highly recommend this assistant living facility, but only if finances are not much of an issue. "

"My husband is here. I was scrambling to find a new place and Whitetail Springs has only been around for about a year. It's a new facility, so they were able to take him. The hospital was kind of like, 'we can't keep him, you gotta get him out of here,' so I was really put on the spot. It's a beautiful facility and has caring staff. They are also very kind, helpful, and particularly accommodating. With the pandemic, I really can't see him, and it's just been incredibly difficult. One of the things that concerns me is the distance from home; I am 45 minutes away from him. I've had some housekeeping issues with him, too. I was able to see him for one hour last week and I wasn't pleased with how clean his room was and some other issues. It is extremely pricey, but I believe he is being well cared for. "

"My mom moved into Woodcrest Senior Living Community last Monday. I love the community. It's safe. The employees are completely wonderful. They're all polite and accommodating. I've never seen a high level of care. The place is clean as clean can be. They have a chapel. They have a lot of Christian-based things going on there, like Bible studies, which I like. It's great. There's nothing I don't like about it. It's beautiful. And they do everything for my mom. The staff is great. I've never seen people like that. They're polite and well-groomed. They do their job, and it's amazing. I've never really seen anything like this because I've gone to some places and been in places where people are taken care of, and it's way above the rest. They have all kinds of activities. They have bingo and games. They have a puzzle room. They have a chapel. They have church on Sundays for the people. They have music. Sometimes people come in and play. They had a chalk artist there last week. There's always something going on. They post activities every day, what's going on, what time and where, so people can go to what they want to be a part of. It's nice. We compared it with other homes out in the area. This place is way above the rest. It's an amazing place."

"My aunt is at Sycamore Estate Inc. I was very impressed with it. It was very bright, very clean, comfortable, and very welcoming to my aunt, which was very reassuring for us. They helped her settle in very well. They provided all of the services that we were looking for at a very good price, and she is happy there. She says that the food is quite good. She has a shared room, and it was very neat and comfortable. It looked very nice to me, but they were doing renovations to put in a lot of improvements, which I thought was really impressive. It's a very well-kept and well-run facility. The staff is very professional, very knowledgeable, very friendly, accessible, and responsive. She is such a picky eater, and she has not offered any complaints."

"I ended up choosing Celebration Villa of Lakemont Farms for a 15-day respite care for my mom in March. The memory care unit was all on one floor. It was all one hall. The rooms, the dining area, and the recreational things were all in one area. You didn't have to worry about going and getting lost. There was no confusion about where you were going. The rooms were nice and spacious. The lady who gave me the tour was very, very good. She was very dedicated to her job and very informative."

"Brookdale Mt. Lebanon was a lovely place, but they only serve two meals a day and clean every other week. "

"We toured Beechwood Court at Lafayette Manor and we were looking for assisted living, but they have dementia care and different levels in assisted living. It was bigger and had more clients than the other ones we visited. The staff doesn't have a high turnover and they seemed very happy there. They had a beautiful dining room, and the facility was very nice looking. They have outdoor space and indoor activities. The only complaint I had about it was that the common areas on the floor we toured were small compared to the number of people on the floor. It reminded me very much of a sort of hospital kind of setup. But they still had the personalized things around their door and all that you could do. I saw that clients were hanging out in the hallway. which is kind of strange to me. The staff gave us her personal story, too, about why she likes it so much there. And you could tell there was a very good rapport between the clients and the staff and that they seemed to care, which was nice. So, from that perspective, it was very good. My mother liked the place, but I didn't because of its institutional feel. It was very clean. Some of the rooms appeared to be older than others, I don't know if they did some redecorating or what. The staff ratio was good, and their pricing was in a good ballpark for the care and the different levels they had. It was also convenient for shopping and to the hospital. We asked some of the people living there and they said that some days the food is good and some days not."

"It is just a great place. It's small, but very clean. The people are very caring, loving, and compassionate; couldn't be nicer. Her room has a bed and a chair. They have two activity coordinators. They showed movies to the residents, and they have arts and crafts. Sunday was my mother's 101st birthday, and we had a party for her. I'm very lucky I found them, and they take excellent care of her. It's better for her there than here at home."

"The rooms that they showed us at Graceful Care Living just had a bed in them, and that's it. We knew immediately when we got there that that wasn't what we were looking for. The staff mentioned that they have another section for people who are more independent. However, it was still somewhat the same concept. Instead of being in a room, like a small, single room, there were two beds. There was no television in those independent rooms. You have to go out of the room to watch television. It was that type of atmosphere, and my mother doesn't want that. She wants something that's like a small apartment, where she can live in that small space and be able to care for herself. I liked the atmosphere. I liked the staff. They're very nice and very accommodating as we went through the tour. My mom asked questions, although she didn't ask very many because she knew, and I could tell just from how she was withdrawn that she was like, "No, this is not going to work for me." I said it to the guy. I said, she's a lot more independent. She can get around fairly well, but this is not for her. She still needs to be in her own place where she can take care of herself. The only thing that she needed was somebody to help her, like to come in and help her to make sure that she's taking her meds. I didn't smell anything. It was very clean."

"My mother-in-law has been in The Haven at North Hills for a week now. We chose them for the price. It seems like you're getting a lot for your dollar. They seem to keep everything clean. The staff may not be the friendliest at times, but that seems to be on and off. Food is OK. It's nothing great. They have large rooms that are clean. They're currently updating, and they're making the place very convenient. We haven't really tried their amenities except for the activities. They have a really great activities director, who is very friendly and fun. They have virtual yoga, game nights, and movies."
