"My mother had stayed at Jefferson Hills Manor. Everything was really good. The physical therapy was the biggest reason she was there. She got in and out in a timely manner, and she had great walking improvement from what she was when she first went in. She was only there for almost a month, and she went from not walking to being able to walk pretty good. She ate in her room most of the time. "

"The rooms could use a paint job to brighten them up. The staff is always kind and accommodating when I need assistance with my family member. It is always festive looking during all the holidays for the resistant's and they definitely make an effort to try to improve the place."

"Overall, I was impressed with the level of care provided by Kane, considering they are a county nursing home. Everything the residents could possibly need was on-site, including medical facilities, gym, physical and occupational therapy, even a beauty salon. Residents were grouped on different floors by need (such as dementia, or behavioral, etc). Each unit had a variety of activities every day for the residents to stay active. Additionally, there were several recreational areas on the ground floor for the residents to use, including a library, computer lab, TV rooms, visiting areas, and an outdoor deck where residents can sit or smoke. I was also impressed that for how many residents they have (hundreds), each person could receive their meals customized to their likes and dislikes.However, what I did not like was how sterile and small the bedrooms were. Unless the individial required a private room, each person had a roommate. The bedrooms were identical to standard hospital rooms, with a curtain separating each bed, and a small closet for personal effects. This was a good setup for short-term care, but not ideal for the long-term care that Kane provides. "

"my wife of 83 years has been there once in the past and presently there for at least 8 weeks, I have visited her often when she is there and have found that the nurses and other personnel there to be caring and professional there is always someone within calling distance away and are extremely helpful to her . "The staff was very caring. My relative who lives there can be a handful, and other nursing homes have rejected her. But the staff at Heritage was very helpful and never had anything negative to show to the visitors and were always very nice to both the patients and their visitors. The facilities were well kept. Especially the common areas. They were very modern and did not give the impression of a hospital environment at all (in a good way). The commons rooms were well lit and beautifully painted. The parts of Heritage that were devoted to hospital care were state of the art. The location is one of the best parts of Heritage. It is centrally located in the city so relatives of the patients are always close by. All in all, I would recommend Heritage Nursing Home for all of the reasons listed above. My Grandmother absolutely loves it and so does her family. "

"The facility is very clean and the workers are very attentive. They are very good at keeping the family involved and aware of problems. I would recommend them. "

"My mom is at The Commons at Squirrel Hill and I am not happy with this facility. They are not attentive at all. They are set on their schedule and not on mom's schedule in regards to bowel movement and water. There is no interaction or whatsoever. They give meds to my mom even if she hasn’t eaten her breakfast. They are saying she has a good appetite, but no one knows whether or not she ate her breakfast. Her breakfast may consist of a bowl of Rice Krispies, a doughnut and a fourth of a cup of juice. I think their staff needs to be skilled with dementia or Alzheimer's because they are not. When we first got there, they were very cordial and the care was right on, but there is no follow up on it. "

"I visited Manor Care. They did very well. I saw their rooms. They were adequate. They offered activities every day. They had people in that would entertain them. They had an activity with coffee in the morning for the residents. They had card-playing days. The residents could always find something, if not every day, close to it, to whatever they wanted. If they would ask, they would try to get something that they were looking for. I liked the location and what they provided for the residents. They were just cooperative in every way. "

"Mom went to Golden Living Center and it was a beautiful facility. The staff was marvelous. They are very concerned and very well trained. They know how to redirect my mom and they were right on the care. They focused on the need on that particular person needed. They called her by her name and interact with her. They also have staff and social workers that interact with me. They call me and give me updates. They also have very nice meals and nutritious too. "

"My wife and I visited this facility in October and found it to be clean no urine smell at all in any part of the building. My sister is a nurse and a former director of admissions for a large nursing home complex and my niece is a social worker. The activities director and especially the admissions director were both very helpful and knowledgeable and answered all and any of our questions. they were candid in telling us there were problems in the past but they are under new leadership and have seen many positive changes. "

"My mom was at Manorcare, and they took very good care of her. She seemed content there. There were people taking care of her all the time, so she did well there. She liked the food; she ate the food. It looked clean to me, and she was always clean. Whenever I went there, my mom was clean, and that's what matters to me. There was an incident where my mom could have died. I am sure it was just an incident. It just occurred and was an accident. I don't know what she did, but she ended up on the floor. I wasn't there, and I don't know what happened, but my sister was pretty upset about it because she came in to visit my mom and found her on the floor, so she wasn't happy about that. But everything else was OK. "

"Concordia of Monroeville was clean, the staff was nice, the bedrooms weren't as large, and the place had more of an institutionalized feel. The maintenance was fine, and it looked good. "
