The Best Nursing Home Communities in Westmoreland County, PA

"My mother has moved into Westmoreland Manor. Exceptional service, exceptional help from the staff. We had a lot of help with the placement. We also had a lot of help with finances in terms of being educated about different avenues that we can pursue. As far as the staff on her floor, (like the nurses and nurses' aides, the staff, and the cafeteria staff), they have all been just really, really nice. I've gotten to know quite a few of them on a first-name basis, and I would give them my top recommendation. I would cut Mom's dinner up for her, and so I took an occasional bite to see what the food tasted like, and it was very good. My mom is gaining weight, too. I have no complaints. She eats everything on the plate, and I've never seen her do that before, so I'm sure she would evaluate it highly, too. My mom is not very mobile, so she doesn't go anywhere, but her room is adequate. I can get in there, sit down on a chair, and so on. The maintenance of the place is excellent, too. My mom refuses to go to any activities. She just wants to stay in her room. However, they're always having activities, and they're always inviting her. In that respect, I would give their activities a five. I also know a lot of people on the floor go to the activities. They have a patio. I haven't seen it yet, but I'll be taking my mom out there as the weather continues to warm up. There is also a library. I've seen the chapel, and that's very nice. Some of the activity rooms on the floor are large."

"Greensburg Care Center was nice. There was a long walk to get to the memory care area, but it was all clean. The rooms were small and I don't think they had too many single rooms. Most of them were double. I've only seen two of the staff and they didn't speak as we were going through. The lady that was showing me around didn't speak to them. She didn't talk to any of them or any of the residents on our way down or back. The atmosphere was very nice. It was open and you had views of the courtyard."

"The rooms at Oak Hill were nice. They were sufficient for the needs and were neat and clean. The staff people were all very pleasant. Their dining area looked very nice, it was neat and clean, and they were assisting residents, who needed help with feeding. They were also expensive. They had a lovely garden area where patients could go out. They do gym and physical therapy, or if the residents just want to do a little workout or get some exercise. They had a lot of activities on their activity board. They have things to keep people busy, and all the residents seemed to be having a good time. "

"Transitions Healthcare North Huntingdon was fine. It seemed friendly, clean, and well organized. My dad talks very highly of the staff and say he likes the food. When I was there one day, they came in and asked him what he liked and what he didn’t like; he liked that because he’s a very picky eater. My mother is in and out of nursing homes and I would say Transitions Healthcare North Huntingdon is probably the best one I’ve ever been in. "

"This is the first nursing home I have been in that didn't have "that" smell. So clean, open, and friendly. The care our mom got was excellent. The staff, awesome. Over the years we have had more than our fair share of relatives needing the care of Twin Lakes. They treat the residences as family and do everything they can to make them feel "at home." Lots of hugs and love in this facility. And they are also good with family and visitors. "

"My mother has stayed there twice after hip surgery and after knee surgery. After a hip replacement now my wife is there and the people are friendly and very helpful and the Rehab Services are excellent. If I needed to rehab I would go there"

"The rooms could use a paint job to brighten them up. The staff is always kind and accommodating when I need assistance with my family member. It is always festive looking during all the holidays for the resistant's and they definitely make an effort to try to improve the place."

"Briarcliff Pavilion is a lot better than the other places we went to or had my father in. I think the rooms are nice and comfortable. I didn't get to sample the food, but it smelled good. The staff members are all very nice and polite. It is nice and clean, and the staff is on it. "

"Golden Living Center is good. The apartments are good. They had activities like games, barbeques, different skills, and crafts that they learn. A doctor from the hospital refers my mother there. "

"My father was in Woodhaven Care Center before for rehab. It was OK, but they're understaffed, and there's just not enough people. There's only one lady, and there are 40 patients, but the staff was knowledgeable. I liked the rooms; they have big windows, and the rooms get a lot of light."

"Concordia provides excellent care for residents. The staff is caring, compassionate, and responsive to resident and family needs. The daily activities are meaningful and enjoyable. Periodically outside entertainment is provided, the performers are very entertaining. Thanks to all staff. "

"I was a rehab resident for 10 days and the Ot, Pt and rehab staff were wonderful. They go above and beyond for me to meet my goals. The medical Nursing stall were very professional and met all of my medical needs "

"After surgery, my father's wife was sent to Golden Livingcenter for rehab. They were good. She was there for 40 days. She was in a room with somebody who lives there, so it was definitely shared. The food was good. The staff was great. I would recommend them. However, it was really hard for my father to spend time with her there because the room was so small. Also I wasn't totally satisfied with the cleanliness. Every once in awhile, I would catch a whiff of a smell or two there. "

"I ended up in Latrobe for a leg injury for four weeks. They had Alzheimer's/dementia care there. There were very few nights where I was uncomfortable at all. It was OK, and that is why I would consider it for my mom. It’s just a little bit too restrictive and older but clean. "
