The staff from Sam in admissions to "all" the Nurses, and aides, therapists that took the time to add their personal touch in their care for Marc. Such compassion and kindness from them all. "My uncle is in Sunnyview Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. It is wintertime, but the landscaping was well done and nothing was overgrown, so they maintain it. The lobby was very bright. The activity center is right off the lobby. There is lots going on. I witnessed balloon volleyball and that looked like fun. They have bingo. My uncle goes to all the activities, and he likes bingo. They have arts and crafts. The staff was very helpful when we moved in. He didn't even have any issues at all. It was a very smooth transition. I only witnessed him eating a couple meals, and he cleaned his plate both times, so I think he loves the food. Everybody was around big tables and they're all in their places with bright, shiny faces. He's only been there a short time, so the three or four days I was there when I moved him in, it was wonderful. The staff was very helpful, courteous, and efficient. The menu looked good. The floors are clean."

"(Scenery Hill Manor) When I first entered the building, I noticed it was dirty & outdated. My dad was there for weeks & they did zero rehab on his hip. They used a lift belt & a bunch of excuses. They lost his bottom dentures. Put him in a room with a 300 LB guy that had the A/C on 24 hours a day & my dad is generally cold. They had no concerns for my dad's well-being just dollar signs. His current senior facility went to visit him after my complaints, and they saw I was right & that he needed removed from here & they found a way for him to get rehab. "

"Cheswick Rehabilitation and Wellness Center, LLC is OK, but I don't see a lot going on there for the residents. I would hate to think of myself as having to live there. It's just not acceptable to me as far as the atmosphere. My sister is in skilled nursing there. She had a stroke and she's wheelchair-bound. Her whole dominant side is paralyzed. The facility looks fine. The staff is really good. They take good care of her physically, but as far as anything to do, it's boring and depressing. Every time I go to visit, she takes one bite of her meal and leaves the rest, and makes faces like it's not too good. It is very clean. They only have one elevator though, which bothers me because she's on the third floor and she's in a wheelchair. If there was a fire, how are they going to get everybody from the third floor and the second floor out with one elevator? That concerned me. With one elevator in the whole place and if it's out of service, they're stuck. I didn't like that at all. If you can do the steps, that's fine, but if you're in a wheelchair or have mobility problems, you're gonna die. The rest of it is fine. They have one big dayroom as soon as you go in with TVs and all. They also have a TV in their room. They had a few activities. I've been there once on the holidays when they had Christmas carols and a guy playing the guitar and playing Christmas carols, but I don't think there's much to do."

"Harmar Village seems to have caring workers. It’s clean and offers a wide range of services. There is rehab on-site, transportation available if needed, and a beauty shop that my aunt would enjoy. "

"My dad was first in the skilled nursing unit at Concordia at Rebecca Residence, then moved into personal care about a week ago. Everybody seems to be professional and very kind. The place is well maintained, clean, and light. My dad is mixed up a little bit at times as to why he is there, but the people have been very patient with him. The food is good. He is not wild about the rehab services on the skilled nursing side, but they seem to be different in the personal care side, so he is happier with that. We got him a suite so that Mom can move in with him to be together. He is 93½ and mom is going to be 90 in a couple of months. Having them back together is good because she is having difficulty on her own. We are hopeful that this works well and have great confidence in the staff. They have activities like movie nights, crafts, music, movement, and yoga. I am hopeful that both of my parents will take full advantage of the activities. My dad seems to be happy with the food, and it is easy to go to the cafeteria for his meals. The place is really good. "

"We had a very nice visit at Longwood at Oakmont. We were actually in a one-bedroom apartment, and we had a very nice, long visit with a lady who gave us a bunch of information. We walked through the common area and saw the restaurant and the foyer. What I liked about it was the openness and the condition of the facility. It was in excellent shape. The oldest wing is only like 30 years old, so it's not that old. The setup at Longwood for independent living sounded perfect for my mother-in-law. They have a dining room and there's an allocated budget amount that a resident can use to eat in the restaurant for as often as they wish, up to the allotted monthly amount. They have all kinds of facilities, a gym, a swimming pool, and a sauna. They have housekeeping that comes in once a week, and laundry. In the apartments you can have a washer/dryer and a full kitchen. The one-bedroom apartment we were in had a little patio out the back where you could go and sit. They had all kinds of financing options. You have to be able to walk in there and basically start in independent living, and then if your condition deteriorates, you can transfer into assisted living or the nursing home. My mother-in-law can get around on a walker, so she would be eligible for that facility. I like that it provides independent living and you can just simply move into the assisted living or the nursing home as your condition may change. The information handouts were very detailed about apartment layouts and various facilities they have available. The lady answered all our questions and took up almost two hours of her time, and she didn't bat an eyelash. She was topnotch professional. From what we saw both outside and inside, walking through part of the facility to get to the wing where the apartments were at, I would give them a five-star rating."

"I really like the community there. The staff are friendly, plan fun activities for the residents and my great aunt seems to enjoy it there. She is well taken care of and we are happy that she is there. She has been there for 5 years now. I have spoken with a few of the nurses there and they seem to really like caring for my great aunt. The facility is new and she even gets a little apartment. This makes her feel more independent. We are happy that she can still cook and care for herself, but enjoy the feeling of security with having people check in on her. She wasn't thrilled to go in the first place, but after she got used to it and make some friends she changed her opinion. A college is nearby and then send a ton of volunteers to do activities with the residents. She's always going to see students sing or play instruments. I didn't rank this facility as the best because I am aware of many more expensive and fancier facilities. St. Andrew's fits our budget and provides a great level of care for my great aunt. I don't think she would be comfortable in a very fancy and expensive facility. I definitely recommend this one to my friends. There are several facilities in the Indiana area and I have heard some bad stories about them. I didn't hear anything bad about St. Andrew's so we decided to learn more. After meeting with their staff a few times and touring the facility, my family decided that this was the best place for our great aunt. I am very happy that we put her in this facility and I am confident that she is happy too. "

"The Willows did not accept my grandmother because she did not have enough money under her name. We were willing to pay the bill there like we had paid the bill at her previous assisted living facility, but they were not even willing to discuss it. I don't think that was fair because the family was willing to pay the bill and sign a contract. The facility itself was nice and clean. The activities seemed plentiful. I did not see very many residents socializing. "

"My mother is in rehab now at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Harmarville. The people have been very nice, so far. They seem to know what they're doing. She's been eating the food and getting what she ordered. The nurses are very calm. My mom is deaf, so they are writing stuff down on the whiteboard that we have. The therapy is the only thing that we're not thrilled with because me and my sister are not allowed in the therapy room with her when she does it. The facility is nice, but it's very, very big. You have to walk pretty far to get to the rooms. It's a great place, but it's way too expensive."

"My mother is currently in skilled nursing at St. Barnabas, and she is number one on the waiting list for a bed in the memory care unit. I am not crazy about the skilled nursing, but she's got to stay there because of her Alzheimer's. Every move she makes has a traumatic effect on her. She fell and broke her hips, so she had to have a hip replacement and stay in the hospital for just 4 days, but it was unbelievable what it did to her. And then she sprained her back in the skilled nursing, so I brought her back to the skilled nursing in the same place where she was living. I didn't want to put her in a facility where she doesn't know anybody all over again, and that is why I did skilled nursing. Their staff is very attentive and works with them regardless of what their needs are. My father was very bad towards the end before he passed, and they were actually great with him, very sympathetic, and they took care of him. "

"My father was a resident here 3 years. He recently passed. The facility is small but that is a good thing. His care was great. The staff was like his extended family. I can't say enough good things about the Activity director and her staff. They keep the residents busy and engaged with many varied activities. The nursing and aide staff were great"

"It's a nursing home, and it's beautiful. The caregivers take excellent care of her. Her room is private, fully furnished, spacious, and cheerful. The location is very convenient, and the grounds are well-kept."
