I would not recommend Kittanning Care Center. Since mid-February, I noticed my mom seemed off. They said it was a UTI. By March, she worsened. When I asked her to be sent to the hospital, they assured me they could handle everything there. Communication was poor, and they lost her teeth, always saying they were "working on it." By late March, she deteriorated further. During my visit on 4/1, her call bell went unanswered for 45 minutes. The next day, I insisted she be hospitalized. Hours later, they finally sent her out. At the hospital, she was found to be neglected, dehydrated, had bed sores, and lost 15 lbs a month since November 2024. She now has dementia and faces a long recovery. After hospital admission, the care center only called to inquire about her room, showing no concern for her well-being. They almost killed my mother and showed no remorse.

I am currently at Kittanning Care Center. They are helping me with bathing and medications. The food is excellent. The facility's physical condition is excellent, very good. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room is nice and common. It's pleasant.

My Mom had dementia and was no longer safe at home. We needed to place her in a safe place that was comfortable, safe and close by. We decided to place her in Kittanning Care Center, which is where my Dad wanted her to go. She had to be in the lock-down unit because she wandered. After more than two years the Lock-down Dementia Unit was awesome! Lisa, Rose, Bob, Crystal, all the other Nurses, CNA's, and all the support staff was exceptional! Sorry I do not have time to name everyone that was so important in my Mom's care! I would recommend the Lock-down Dementia Unit for anyone with a loved one that needs this kind of care. They were loving and caring. They were very friendly, listening to our stories and sharing what Mom had been doing. My Dad went every day for months and then had to drop to 3 times a week due to his own health, and they had coffee waiting for him and Mom so they could continue their lifetime habit of sitting together in the morning, having a cup of coffee together before starting their day. I feel that these people could only bless your loved one!! My parents are both gone now (they died 7 months apart) and I see Kittanning Care Center as one of the good things that really added to those last few years of Mom and Dad's decline.

Both of my biological Grandfathers have been residents in this personal care home. Overall, myself and my family found the staff to be easy to work with and very accomodating, the facility to be clean and easy to access, and the food to be good as well. During holidays, they have special events which family members can attend, and they offer church services on weekends. The only drawback to the facility was that the rooms on the third floor became very hot, even with the air conditioning running, and the residents on that floor often complained about the heat. But this is a facility that I would strongly suggest to anyone who has a family member in need of long-term care. Many of the staff are people whom I know personally, and they do a great job and genuinely care about the residents and their families.
