My aunt was in the dementia unit almost 3 years- they were absolutely amazing to her - she was always well taken care of , her room was always clean, the food was great, when she had a bad day they would sit and hold her - and they cried with us when she took her last breath - we are very grateful to everyone there -

This place used to be amazing but now since ownership and management changed this have gone so far downhill . Very recently i had a family member pass away there, the man who called to inform us was very rude. He told us that our family member had passed away and had a dnr then told us the body had to be removed tonight before just hanging up on us. i get you have a job to do and other people to call but really we just lost a close member of our family. I will NEVER wish this place on anyone

My grandfather was in therr and recently passed away. Autopsy said he passed away from massive infection from bed sores that the staff at West Haen did NIT take care of. I would NOT send my family members to this place EVER AGAIN nor should anyone else!

My mom is currently at West Haven. The facilities are just fair. They are slowly remodeling the rooms. Each of them is a double room and it's not very large. It is badly in need of remodeling like painting and patching holes in the walls. As in so many facilities, understaffing is definitely an issue. For example, one of the aides that takes care of my mother told me she has 14 people under her. Some of those patients, like my mother, have to be fed. I don't know what the ratio is, but 14 is just too many.
