Nursing Home Communities in Irwin, PA

"We were required to put my grandmother in the Hempfield Manor because her care became too difficult for our own family to undertake. Initially we were quite pleased when we met with the individuals who run the facility. The Hempfield Manor is quite clean and the staff are all friendly and very accommodating. My grandmother seems to be quite pleased with her stay at this facility and I would recommend it to others who are in similar situations. It costs somewhere around $2,000 a month for my grandmother to live in her assisted living facility at the Hempfield Manor which is quite reasonable and on par with other facilities in the region. We looked at other assisted living facilities in the region but this one proved to be the most bang for the buck so to speak. Nobody wants to put a loved one in a facility and take them out of their own home and their own care, but it really was the best solution to giving my grandmother the best care possible. I still get to visit her quite often and I feel comfortable knowing that she is getting such great care. "

"I visited Manor Care. They did very well. I saw their rooms. They were adequate. They offered activities every day. They had people in that would entertain them. They had an activity with coffee in the morning for the residents. They had card-playing days. The residents could always find something, if not every day, close to it, to whatever they wanted. If they would ask, they would try to get something that they were looking for. I liked the location and what they provided for the residents. They were just cooperative in every way. "

"My dad was in Concordia of Monroeville. The place was laid out very nicely. It was very clean. It was over a weekend, but it just seemed like they were very understaffed. The staff that was there was very helpful. My dad didn't say anything negative about the food, so I assumed what he had there, he liked. They did have a therapy room, but because we were there in the middle of COVID, we weren't allowed to go through and take much of a tour of the place. They kind of bent the rules for us and allowed us to go back to my dad's room and be there pretty much all day with him, even though their policy was one person for an hour at a time. But it just helped them out because of their staffing issues I believed, to have someone back there with my father. I know they did have a rehab center there, but beyond that, I don't know what else they had because we couldn't walk around to see the place. His room was big. It was nice. The people that we met were very nice. I think we liked that. My dad was very appreciative of the care that he got there."

"I was so upset at first sight of this "highly rated" facility as we brought my loved one in. There is not enough staffing, and the aides are worked too hard. There are caring individuals, but almost 95% of the time your loved one is left to wander alone. No one can be taken to the bathroom while dinner is being served, while they take them to dinner, or bring them back. Elderly people must WAIT till staff is ready for them to go. Not the cleanest place either. Not enough liquids given for proper hydration. WAY too many people in the building- no personal care for anyone! Anyone who has made progress on recovery from a stroke or heart attack or injury will backslide rather than progress with healing. There is NO future in this place! Very Depressing and truly difficult to remove a loved one from once they are there. "

"Mom went to Golden Living Center and it was a beautiful facility. The staff was marvelous. They are very concerned and very well trained. They know how to redirect my mom and they were right on the care. They focused on the need on that particular person needed. They called her by her name and interact with her. They also have staff and social workers that interact with me. They call me and give me updates. They also have very nice meals and nutritious too. "

"Redstone Highlands is very clean. The staff is caring and took excellent care of my aunt. She was able to return to her assisted living apartment after her stay there. She's 94. They have a gym and offer PT and OT. They have three different levels: apartment level, one-bedroom with a kitchenette, and skilled. They have it all covered. They have a full calendar of activities, like church, bingo, and a transportation bus to take them to the Dollar Store. The place is very neat and clean, pretty modern, and light and airy. They have an outside porch and green space. My aunt was pleased with the value for what she got. The only thing is that they could use some computer updates because a lot of the elderly now are computer-savvy. They need some work stations for the elderly. "

"My grandmother is stay here as she recovers from a stroke. From the outside it is a very beautiful place though i do worry because it is located close to the county prison. The staff are very kind though very busy at times it seems but they always get to any questions i may have or any favors such as making sure the local football game is on for her.The facilities themselves seem clean and well maintained and the elderly i see on the way to my grandmothers room seem well. If i was to have any complaints it would only be that as i stated before they seem a little understaffed at times. As i would like to finish with a positive since i would rate this facility very good would be that even if visiting hours arent at the time they always try to fit family in when it is good for us if its after hours visiting or moving therapy around. "

"My mother was at Lgar Health and Rehabilitation. What I liked the most was that it was a clean and well-maintained place. What I liked the least was how they did her laundry. The physical appearance was very nice. It seemed pretty clean. Their care and services were fine. They were good. However, the dining area could be a little bit cleaner. They had a beauty shop. They had several different outdoor areas for you to take your loved one or for them to go to themselves. They had different activities during the day. They had local entertainment come in."

"Saint Anne Home was very nice, but VA would not pay for it. It was expensive. The rooms were very nice, and they had a new wing. I liked their bathing facility. It had a nice tub where they place the person in easily. We just couldn't afford it. The facility was wonderful. They also had green spaces where you could take your loved one."

"Rehabilitation and Nursing Center was a very clean community and they did their best to take care of all their patients. They're just understaffed and overwhelmed. The grounds and location are very nice. My mother's room was nice and big enough. They have activities for the seniors as well."

"My husband is doing very well in John J Kane Regional Center. It seems to be very well maintained. The staff are very professional and very knowledgeable. The people that live there are nice. The rooms are not fancy. He has a bed, a television, a dresser, a little nightstand, a nice large window, and his own bathroom. They have a huge dining room -- which is nicely decorated -- and the food is very tasty. They do bingo and pirate games, and they go shopping and to restaurants. He is allowed to leave whenever he wants with the doctor's note, and one of us can go pick him up. They have a bird aviary, a computer area, and a snack area. "

"We chose Riverside Health and Rehab Center because we ran out of options. I liked the nurses. They are very nice to the patients and they're there for them. From the meals that my mother has had over the last 60 days or so, they looked very, very tasty and smelled very good. She was having a movie night one time. Another time they were having dinner in this big dining room. The activities for them are very good. They interact with each other. Their facilities and amenities are plentiful compared to other places that I've seen. You're getting what you're paying for."

"The thing that my family and I like most about Riverside Nursing is the variety of activities that are offered, especially bingo, because my grandmother loves bingo. The staff here also explained about the entertainment and the activities available here, such as Kennywood trips as well as luncheons. We really comfortable with the staff as they are very polite and are willing to help no matter what at the drop of a hat and we really feel that my grandmother will get the good care that she needs at this facility. "

"My great aunt was recently put in this nursing home, and needless to say; it is GREAT! She is always taken care of and always has ways to entertain herself there. My great aunt enjoys the food and has not lost any belongings so far (in which is what happened to other relatives in other nursing homes). There is always some kind of nightly activity for the residents to do (such as bingo). She also enjoys the atmosphere and being able to socialize with other people. The staff is as friendly as ever; they're never the slightest bit harsh; even with the younger children we sometimes bring along. The only minor issue we experienced here was when my aunt's coffee mug went missing, but that issue was easily resolved. The gardens in the back behind the building and all-around scenery are gorgeous as well. Even the residents here are friendly and are always greeting younger people who pass by. If anybody were to have a friend or family member in urgent need of a nursing home, then this would be a very good choice for anybody in the area. "
