"We toured The Residence at Whitehall. They were very nice, but they were above what we could afford. They showed us the studio apartment, which would have been too small for us. We saw the common areas like the lobby, the dining areas, and the craft rooms. They were well-maintained."

"I like how clean it was, how everything was open and available to all the people who live there, and the staff was great. I looked at both assisted living and independent living. The staff who gave me the tour was very knowledgeable. She gave me a tour of the whole place, and it seemed like she didn't hide anything. It's a great place. They got in-house physical therapy; it looked great. They have a gym, a salon, and an in-house doctor. It was close to where she's living now. It's near all the hospitals, too."

"We looked at Brookdale Mt. Lebanon was very recently renovated. It's very pretty. That was the one we saw first. My mom thought it was beautiful. She loved it. It's just she went to the other community because in each apartment, they have a push button and they want every resident to push it by 10 a.m. each morning. It's just making sure everyone's healthy, to check in on everyone. My mom doesn't want to do that, she has her own schedule. There are days that she's a night owl and there are days she doesn't get up until 11 a.m. so she doesn't want to push the button. It's hysterical because they are a beautiful facility, they have everything else that the residents at the other place have. They had a special and were less expensive."

"They exceed our expectations! 3-11 shift was the best! The staff couldn't have been kinder to our mother. "

"My mother has been a resident of Mt. Vernon for 4 months. This facility provides a very homelike, secure environment for her and has met ,and in some instances ,exceeded my expectations. The nursing staff has been exceptional in evalutating and implementing a care program that has worked well for her transition. When I have any suggestions or concerns regarding my mother's care, the administration is readily accessable and willing to offer suggestions and/or implement positive changes. I am very happy with many of the on-site services at Mt. Vernon. Genesis Rehab has been exceptional in helping my mother be as independent and safe as possible for her age. The staff at Mt. Vernon has treated my mother with kindness and love. Being an RN myself, I can truly appreciate the hard work and devotion of the workers here. "

"It was very large and nice. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. There was a garden area where they could do with flowers. I haven’t tried the food, but they gave me cookies to take home. They had multiple activities. "

"It was wonderful. They're smaller than other facilities and the rooms seemed a little small to me, but everybody seems happy and well taken care of since there's a little more one-on-one care there. The food situation and entertainment are excellent. There's a more intimate relationship between the staff and the people because there are less people. The staff was great and it's a very nice place. They have lots of entertainment and they have a very good chef."

"My mother-in-law was at Paramount Senior Living at Peters Township for a short-term stay. The staff were very wonderful. I don't have anything that I didn't like. It was a good experience. Her room was very nice. It was very spacious. There was a deck, like a common area, with picnic tables and umbrellas. Of course, they'd have to have adults with her because she was in memory care, but she was able to sit outside. It was very nice and the bathroom was very spacious. One day I had lunch with her and the food was good. She enjoyed the food, too. The facility was very clean and welcoming. There was always somebody at the desk to welcome you when you came in."

"My mom is there the last couple months and this place is amazing they have a ha dedicated team of personal Aides , the food is amazing and the management keeps the place clean and nice now it with the new management in place things got even batter thanks Toni (she is the administrator) I would recommend this place for anyone that is looking for a place for a close one a place that they could feel at home and bean taking care of Thanks Peter"

"We chose Sycamore Estate for Mom because they had better staffing and their price was better than most places. The food Mom was eating looked fine, but I have not tried it myself. The one drawback I have is they don’t have wide hallways for the wheelchair. Other than that, I don't have any complaints at this point. They have arts and crafts and bingo. They were decorating shamrocks for St. Patrick's Day the other day. I like the fact that I would not have to move my mother again if her condition worsens. "

"I went for a tour at Mount Vernon, and the staff was very informative. The place looked nice. Unfortunately, they were a lot older, and my brother-in-law was only 56. Most of these places had elderly people in there, and I was hoping to find something that might have a various age levels. The apartment was fine. We went on the day they had an Easter breakfast with the bunny. It was nice that the head nurse or whatever brought her dogs in every day. They had activities planned, and she showed me the calendar. "

"We went to look at Juniper Village at Forest Hills, and it was lovely. I would like to stay there myself. In the first place, it took my breath away. It looked like a gorgeous, gorgeous place to be. Everything was beautiful. It is ideal, and it's everything that anyone could want. It was like stepping into a mirror and coming out on the other side in this beautiful mansion is what it reminded me of. The furniture was gorgeous. Everything was clean. It was decorated beautifully. It just felt so good. It was small, but it was elegant. Everybody should be offered a place like that, really. I'm happy for the people that are there and get to appreciate it. If anyone sees it, they would want to be there, that's for sure. They didn't serve us a meal, but they had a really beautiful dining room. There was a little snack bar kind of thing that you could go and have a milkshake or ice cream or something like that. It's set up like you're going into a wedding reception. It's so nice, really. The people that work there were almost invisible, and they don't tower over you, but they're there. You see them, you hear them, and they communicate. It's just so pleasant, calming, and wonderful. I just keep bringing this mental picture up in my mind, and it's so soothing."

"My mother-in-law moved into Harmony at Diamond Ridge. Nicole, the one who gave us the tour several times, had the biggest impact on my mother. She was very thorough, showing us the entire facility several times, answering all of the questions, providing and explaining the care my mother would be receiving, which met all of the criteria I needed for her. And so far, so good. They're wonderful, very helpful, get her down to her meals, bring her back, take her to activities, introduce her to other residents, and make her feel comfortable and at home. She loves the food. We can also eat with her if we'd like, and we have several times. The food is wonderful. They have a special every day, but there is also a completely different menu, so if it's something she doesn't like, she can order it from there. It's the cleanest facility I have been in. They have a ton of activities. They have art class, cards, and bingo. They have a coffee chat every morning, where residents can get together. They go down to the bistro and have coffee, get to know the other residents, have a snack or something, and talk, which she did, and she likes that really well. They have a lot of different activities. You get a schedule, and it's the whole day. If you want to be doing something every minute of the day, you can be. They go on outings and take them to restaurants and stores. I chose this facility because it seemed the best fit for her. The size of the facility, the staff, the director, and everyone that we have met. It just seemed like a perfect fit for her. All the facilities that I took her to, her exact words were that they felt like home to her."

"The rooms that they showed us at Graceful Care Living just had a bed in them, and that's it. We knew immediately when we got there that that wasn't what we were looking for. The staff mentioned that they have another section for people who are more independent. However, it was still somewhat the same concept. Instead of being in a room, like a small, single room, there were two beds. There was no television in those independent rooms. You have to go out of the room to watch television. It was that type of atmosphere, and my mother doesn't want that. She wants something that's like a small apartment, where she can live in that small space and be able to care for herself. I liked the atmosphere. I liked the staff. They're very nice and very accommodating as we went through the tour. My mom asked questions, although she didn't ask very many because she knew, and I could tell just from how she was withdrawn that she was like, "No, this is not going to work for me." I said it to the guy. I said, she's a lot more independent. She can get around fairly well, but this is not for her. She still needs to be in her own place where she can take care of herself. The only thing that she needed was somebody to help her, like to come in and help her to make sure that she's taking her meds. I didn't smell anything. It was very clean."
