Celebration Villa of South Hills

I have friends who live down at Celebration Villa of South Hills. They are both very happy there. They have a lot of activities. It's very well kept. They both seem to be very well taken care of. Both of them tell me the same thing. They're very content and satisfied with the care they get there. They have a beautiful dining room. They have bingo. They bring a priest into those who are Catholic who want communion. They have a couple of other activities, but I'm not aware of all of them. The people who work there are all very, very nice. Neither one of my friends have ever complained about the food. My one friend told me she's very happy with the care that they give her. Anyone I've talked to there was also very, very helpful. The community is very clean and very well kept. In terms of value for money, for the price they charged, I think their facility is very good.

We toured the assisted living facility of Celebration Villa of South Hills. The lobby was okay, but it's an old Howard Johnson's hotel that they converted into an assisted living facility. It's not fancy, but it looked okay. The place was claustrophobic, and the hallways were dark. The staff seemed friendly enough, but the place wasn't as hygienic as I would have liked to see. The nurse's stations were a mess, and there was some trash on the floor, like spoons and straws. Everything was very tight, and the rooms were marginal and weren't nice. The whole place was depressing. The lady who was giving us the tour kept looking out the window at people who were behind us, and was distracted. Every time we asked her something, she had to go ask somebody else. She was sort of irritating. We didn't get a good feel at all for this place. We dismissed it pretty quickly and got out of there as fast as we could because we just kind of knew. The cost of the place is much cheaper than the other places, understandably. The common areas were tight, small, and not very nice. They weren't terrible, and it wasn't a pit, but it was average on its best day. It was like a last resort if you just couldn't afford any other place.

I like how clean it was, how everything was open and available to all the people who live there, and the staff was great. I looked at both assisted living and independent living. The staff who gave me the tour was very knowledgeable. She gave me a tour of the whole place, and it seemed like she didn't hide anything. It's a great place. They got in-house physical therapy; it looked great. They have a gym, a salon, and an in-house doctor. It was close to where she's living now. It's near all the hospitals, too.

My mom moved in. So far, so good. We had a couple of glitches, but other than that, it was fine. It's hard during the quarantine because she can't meet anybody, but the staff has been great. They've been wonderful helping around. She loves the food, and it's much more than what she normally eats. She's not used to eating three or four meals a day, so she picks at what she can, but she says it's very good. It's a beautiful place, clean, and well kept. She got a studio, which is quite large, it has a big window, a small refrigerator, and a microwave. There's plenty of room, a nice closet, and a big bathroom. It's bigger than I thought it was going to be, and she has everything she needs.

My mother moved in. It's beautiful, she receives great attention, and she finds the food to be delicious. Her room is beautiful, she engages in spiritual activities where they have mass and communions for her, they have volunteer activities which she enjoys, and physical activities like chair yoga. They have Wii bowling, Bingo, cocktail parties, and entertainment. The staff has been very kind and attentive to her, they check in with her to make sure she's OK, they keep her room immaculate, and they're helpful with her needs. They deliver her medications and arrange her doctors' appointments.

My Dad was there for 6 weeks. The staff and care were incredible!!! Oh and the food was great! Jay
