"We visited Sunrise of Granite Run. I loved it. The residents were very engaged and happy. The staff looked very passionate and happy to work there. For us, it was very convenient. Their rooms were smaller, but that was part of their philosophy because they did not want the people to stay in their rooms all the time. They wanted them to come out and be part of the community. Their common areas were bigger than the rooms. We thought that was great. We watched them play games. They had chocolate chip cookies always on a tray, and it smelled like popcorn or chocolate chip cookies. Your apartment had a window that you could decorate, so it looked like a window, a front door and a mailbox. "

"My sister-in-law is at Sunrise of Haverford. It is really beautiful. It's easy to access, like the parking, and we liked the cleanliness, the food, and the people. They are very, very cordial and very helpful. The memory care facility is very clean, very nice, very open, and spacious. They have a bistro right there when you come in the door. The food is cooked right on my sister-in-law's floor, and she eats well."

"Symphony Square was a nice place. Lani was excellent and knew her stuff. The residents were doing baking and crafts projects while I was there. The dining area was beautiful, but I did not taste the food. The place was beautiful and brand new. They would only allow a maximum of 12 residents for the memory care unit which was a very nice thing."

"I toured Fountain View at Logan Square. The community was beautiful. My brother loved it. We loved the atmosphere, the restaurants, the library, the entrance, and how well they treated us when we came there. Even the guy that gave us the tour guide was wonderful. The nurse who came and did his assessment was very pleasant and very kind. However, we were not able to afford it. I thought that we would be able to get the room because I was going to financially help him. However, the money had to be in his account, so he was denied because he didn't have enough income coming in. The staff was wonderful with the tour, but when he set us up for the medical doctor, he gave the impression that my brother could get the studio because it was cheaper, and then by the time we came back, he told me the studio was $4,600. The upkeep was very nice, except they were still under construction, so it was a little messy. However, the rooms I saw that were already ready were very nice."

"Daylesford Crossing seemed new and clean. The rooms were nice. They had an activity room and a library. The dining area was very nice and looked like a restaurant. I did not have a meal, but they showed us the menu, and there was a lot of variety. The staff was very nice."

"After 4 months of in-home care for our Mom, we decided to look at some assisted living facilities in our area. Although very nice, the ones we visited seemed a little overwhelming to Mom. A friend told us about a newly renovated facility in Arden that had just re-opened. We decided to check it out. Thus began our love affair with Ivy Gables, a beautifully appointed 24 room senior living facility nestled in the community of Ardentown which just happens to be 5 minutes from our home. We particularly liked that it was a small facility, knowing that it would be more comforting to Mom. Of course, what’s a beautiful facility without warm and friendly people to bring it to life!! The staff at Ivy Gables outshines all of its beautiful appointments! They are top notch, professional folks who welcomed us and have went the extra mile to make our Mom (and us) feel at home! Knowing that our Mom is safe and in the hands of such kind and loving folks, has given us such peace of mind!” "

"The one I liked the most was the Bellingham. It was in a rural, country setting, which was appealing to me. When you walk in, the place was bright, pleasant, and cheery. There was a beautiful dining room off to the left, a little country store in the reception area, and a receptionist waiting there. I didn’t see people just sitting around and doing nothing. There were a couple of people in the little coffee shop, which is in addition to the dining room, getting breakfast and coffee. I’ve been there twice; it was fairly quiet the first time I was there. They said that a lot of the residents were out on a shopping trip. I saw several of the apartments, and they were all pleasant and a good size. Of the six places I visited, they were probably the largest apartments. It was particularly appealing for me because the apartments on the 2nd and 3rd floors all had private outdoor balconies, so you could sit out and read, watch the birds, etc. The 1st floor apartments had patios, which I didn’t like since they overlooked the parking lot. I was impressed by the setup of the apartments. It was clean and in a nice setting. I went to the rehab facility, which was very lovely; the independent living facility, which was very nice; and the assisted living facility, which I did not like at all because it smelled awful, like people had urinated on the rug and it had never been cleaned, and there were a bunch of people sitting around in wheelchairs. Since I am looking at its independent living, I would give it a 5. "

"My sister is at McCallum LLC. It is near our home. The room is fine. My sister likes it too. She has her own bathroom. So far, since she has been there, she has been in the room by herself, but there is a room for one other person. I absolutely recommend this facility. It is a nice community. It is quiet. My sister likes it. "

"We toured Woodbury Mews. Jerry was very courteous. We had lunch there. The food was excellent. The food was outstanding if that was something that you were looking for. The facilities were a little bit older, but everything had been upgraded in the unit. One thing that we didn't like was that they didn't have any balconies, verandas or patios, so that was negative for us. The units were smaller, with no kitchen, just a kitchenette. But they had a theatre, a huge craft area, and a very active activities program. The staff we met were all very friendly and accommodating."
