"Eagleview Landing was new. They had all the amenities that you would ever expect and it looked immaculate. However, they're not amenable to higher levels of personal care. They led us to believe they would accept my mom, and when they did the assessment, we got another story, but it was the most impressive facility we saw."

"I went to The Watermark at Bellingham. It's beautiful. It's old. I think George Washington slept there, they have rebuilt and redecorated, but it's it's delightful. Walking in the front door felt warm and comfortable, and the grounds were quite lovely. The rooms were very nice, except they did not include a washer and dryer in each room. I had a tour guide, a lovely woman, who was wonderful, very helpful, and had some suggestions of her own about the way some of the units were laid out. Also, she was friendly with the residents as well as the other staff people. Everyone seemed to know everyone and called people by their first name. There were two very nice dining rooms, and they brought your food to the table. I think they had, one of the dining rooms for people who needed help, but the other dining room was for everyone. They also had a complimentary breakfast every morning and a snack bar that was open the whole day. If someone told me that I had to go somewhere tomorrow, I would pick Bellingham."

"The staff members that I worked with while I was volunteering were helpful and friendly. They seemed to actively participate and engage the members of the facility. The building was large and spacious, yet still easy to navigate. Many of the individuals living at the facility were lively and happy to greet new visitors. For the most part, all needs were met in a timely manner. Occasionally, however, staff member would avert attention from the community member in order to focus their attention on non-relevant tasks, such as talking on the phone or having a conversation with another staff member. This was uncommon, however, and did not seem to interfere too much with the general flow of work within the facility. Sunrise of Westtown is one of the more attentive and amiable assisted-living facilities I have volunteered at and I plan on doing more work with them in future. "

"We're moving my mother into Sunrise of Paoli. We were very happy with what we saw yesterday. My brother had seen another place with my mother a couple of years ago, and the first reaction was to stop looking. However, yesterday we had a completely different reaction to the place in a positive sense. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The sales manager was extremely competent and helpful. I haven't been looking a lot, but what I saw seemed to satisfy our needs as we now know them. I saw a salon. They have what we need for our mom."

"Echo Lake was the only one who took my stepmother. I went through some tours with the other places, but then at the last minute they just turned us down. She has a certain condition and Echo Lake had no problems taking her. They treat her like any other resident and the place is just absolutely beautiful. They are very attentive to all her needs because she has extra needs and the food's good. Just a very positive atmosphere and she's thriving there. It's a studio that we picked for her. They supply a bed, an end table, a lamp, a comfy chair, a pretty big bathroom with a shower that she can just wheel her wheelchair into, a kitchenette with a full size refrigerator, microwave, counter space, and upper and lower cabinets. The staff is extremely friendly. They are willing to do anything and they are not rushed. Like they're not trying to hurry you up to go do something else. They genuinely care about the individual and you can see it in everything they do. They seem very educated in what they're doing as well. She has three meals a day, but if she wanted to eat six times, she could. They've got a ton of activities throughout the day every day, including weekends. They do exercises twice a day, they play games, they do readings, puzzle time, bingo, and they have this big calendar in the assisted living and independent living, but you can go to either area. It doesn't matter if you're assisted living or not."

"My mom is in here since September and it's been great! For my mom's level, it is a perfect place for her. It is not overwhelming not like those huge complexes. The staff is very caring and nice. They know everybody by name and they are very attentive. Her apartment is very nice. She has a living area, a bedroom, a nice size bathroom and she's very comfortable there. It is really cozy and she really likes it a lot. She said the food is good. There is a lot for her to do. She likes doing crafts like making jewelry, she does painting, she plays bingo, bowling and participates in music. Singers like Frank Sinatra come in. She is socializing more and they do a good job in trying to involve the family too. They have brunches for the family to come out and visit. My mom has also been in a couple of dinners where they take them out to dinners. Overall, we are very happy with them."

"I had been to Friends Home in Kennett to tour it. It's convenient. It's right in the middle of town, it's not too far from the senior center, and it's not too far from my son. I haven't met any of the staff except for the lady that shows you around the place, and she was very helpful. The amenities they offer are meals and laundry. I also saw the salon and the courtyard. I think the upkeep was pretty good. I'm only good for one bedroom, plus I don't need anything else, but it was adequate. In terms of location, they got a lot of restaurants up and down the street. They got all kinds of little hospitals and then they got the big hospital."

"After two weeks in the hospital my mom developed skin breakdown. When we moved her to Manatawny Manor for her rehab, she was there for two months and she never had a skin breakdown. "We chose Columbia Cottage Collegeville for mom because it's a small community, and the caregiver to resident ratio is favorable. They offer a variety of activities and services, and the location was also beneficial. They had 10 levels of care from independent living all the way through to skilled nursing. It is great because she can age in place, and the staff has been amazing. They have three different sized rooms. My mom is in a 312 square foot room (which doesn't sound like much), but it is perfect for a single person. There's a full bathroom with a walk-In shower and pull cords by the bed and in the bathroom for assistance. There are three different sized rooms. They're generally on a wait list, but we happen to call them at a good time. They have one available. It's really like a big home. They have a living room, a TV area, dining room, and kitchen (which is all open for the residents to use as they like). They also have a hair salon onsite, as well as a physical therapy area. They have therapists that come in several times a week and a hairdresser that's there two days a week. They also have a nurse on-staff 24 hours a day, and they're great. If there's any medical assistance needed, they're there. They have various activities like arts and crafts, games, bingo, and movie night. They also have a vehicle, so they can do scheduled transportation to doctor's appointments. There are two courtyards inside the building, so residents can go outside and enjoy them without the risk of anybody wandering off. She likes the food so far."

"Because I wanted to just go away for a week or so, I inquired about Forwood Manor. Everything there seemed very pleasant. "Springfield Crossings was OK. It was a way to walk from the parking lot to the building. The rooms to me were kind of small and it was under construction, so I didn't understand that one, but the person that gave the tour was pretty nice. He's a very knowledgeable young guy. Next door to the facility was a nursing home that was available for the residents. If something were to happen to your loved one, they can be taken there, which I thought was pretty good since it was convenient. The dining area was nice and clean as well. Then they have a private room if you have family members that stopped by."

"After 4 months of in-home care for our Mom, we decided to look at some assisted living facilities in our area. Although very nice, the ones we visited seemed a little overwhelming to Mom. A friend told us about a newly renovated facility in Arden that had just re-opened. We decided to check it out. Thus began our love affair with Ivy Gables, a beautifully appointed 24 room senior living facility nestled in the community of Ardentown which just happens to be 5 minutes from our home. We particularly liked that it was a small facility, knowing that it would be more comforting to Mom. Of course, what’s a beautiful facility without warm and friendly people to bring it to life!! The staff at Ivy Gables outshines all of its beautiful appointments! They are top notch, professional folks who welcomed us and have went the extra mile to make our Mom (and us) feel at home! Knowing that our Mom is safe and in the hands of such kind and loving folks, has given us such peace of mind!” "

"Rockland Place is beautiful. Absolutely gorgeous. It was the most beautiful one, although the apartments weren't as big. But the whole facility was top-notch. It was aesthetically beautiful. The staff was wonderful. They were very outgoing and friendly. No complaints. It was so beautiful inside, and spacious. The rooms for the public or the general rooms were just beautiful. "
