Assisted Living Communities in Annville, PA

"On July 20, 2023 my dad had a fall. After being hospitalized and inpatient rehab, we felt he needed 30 days in assisted living. This was devastating to us both as my dad is very independent. Melissa jumped in and made the process of having dad placed at Viva so comforting. Anytime, I need anything Melissa and Millie are always there fore me along with the other staff. I cannot say enough about Viva and their staff, they make you feel like family. "

"Juniper Village at Mount Joy seemed very well organized. The rooms were spacious. The community rooms were spacious, and the dining room was very nice. The staff gave me a sample of the menu and it seemed very varied. It just seemed like a very nice place. I liked it a lot. The layout of the apartments was very nice. I did get to see three of them, and they seemed very nice. There's a little kitchenette in there. There was a chapel and a hair salon. They had everything. They had a lot of activities on their calendar."

"I liked the size of The Terraces at Capitol Village. It was sort of secluded and a good location. There's a lot of shopping. They were redoing some of the places, and they're moving to hardwood floors instead of carpet and that may sound good, but I prefer carpet. If I had a room that was all laminate or hardwood, I would end up putting area rugs down and they scare me to death. They are too easy to trip on and that's one reason I probably would not move in there because I don't want to walk around and step over area rugs. They only showed me stuff inside because they didn't have a lot of stuff outside. They had some walking trails, but nothing else, which is fine with me. If I want to go golfing or swimming, I would just get in my car and go somewhere else. They have regularly scheduled events. There are so many. You can't read them all, but they all sound fun. Cleanliness seemed nice. There weren't a lot of people that were sitting outside. They have benches and stuff. They don't have a lot more than that. Just a park area and you walk around and enjoy the weather or flowers, but there weren't hardly any people out there. I checked out their independent living but I liked that they can make their way up to skilled nursing so you don't have to leave your apartment. When you get to where you're incapacitated, they will send the caretakers to your room. I liked that. They have an area in the building for people that need round-the- clock care, and that's what I'm looking for. They take you to the end of your life."

"My mother has moved into Paramount Senior Living at Lancaster County. She is in memory care. Her room is very nice and very clean. We took things in to make it her room. So far, everybody's been very, very nice and helpful. I really like it. My mom eats the food and likes it. Everybody says it's very good, but I've never eaten there. They paint their nails. They color and play games. They have a big ball that they throw back and forth to each other. They are always doing something for them. My mom enjoys all the activities. It's beautiful. I couldn't ask for anything better for my mom."

"Brookdale Harrisburg is a gorgeous facility. It's very nice. As soon as you walk, there's a fireplace, a comfortable nice seating area, and a beautiful dining room. It looked like they had a phenomenal menu. The rooms were very nice. I got to see a studio, a studio deluxe, and a standard suite, and it was a very nice living space. They offered quite a few amenities. They were getting ready for a cocktail hour for the residents while I was there. They have transportation. They have beautiful courtyards, walking paths, a garden if they wanted to garden, a library, a beautiful dining room, and a beauty shop there, too. Everybody seemed very upbeat. They're not huge and they only have 55 residents. They have like 36 in personal care and 19 in memory care, but they don't call it memory, they call it Clare Bridge."

"My Great-Uncle has been living at Oak Leaf Manor (Landisville) for about a year. I have visited him at least twice a week since he has been there, so I am very familiar with Oak Leaf. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and well maintained. There is plenty of outside seating including two gazebo's. There is also an outside picnic area and nice walkways for the residents. The interior is wonderfully decorated for whatever season it happens to be. There is also a water fountain inside that is quite nice so sit around and relax. The dining room is nicely laid out and the food is good. The residents rooms are spacious and clean. The staff at Oak Leaf Manor is very friendly and caring. If any problems arise, the staff do their best to accommodate you as quickly as possible. There are a lot of activities for the residents, including BINGO, a theater room, scenic bus rides, crafts, and veterans activities. Overall Oak Leaf Manor has a very comfortable friendly atmosphere. If you are looking for a home for a loved one who can no longer live alone, I highly recommend Oak Leaf Manor. "

"Oak Leaf Manor was very clean and very nice. The staff was very helpful with all of the questions we asked. They had physical therapy, which was one of the things we looked at for my mother. My mother has trouble swallowing, so they also had a special diet for her. We liked the cleanliness and the staff. My sisters went there a second time, and it seemed like they were fine. We didn't interact with the residents. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, and the inside of building itself was very clean. "

"My husband and I went to tour Harmony at West Shore. The facility was very well cared for. It was clean. They had all kinds of activities that you could participate in. As well as if you're interested in bus trips or going to the grocery stores, they had all that. I believe they were dinner only. I guess you're on your own for the rest of it, but they did have kitchens in their independent apartments. The staff was very friendly, very knowledgeable, showed us everything that we needed to see. We're just not interested in the group meals that you have to be there at a certain time. We didn't try any meals, but the dining area was very lovely. It was very, very nice. They have a chef there who cooks all the meals, and you pick a menu for what you would like for the evening. They also have snacks, coffee, water, tea all day long. Whatever you need, they have available."

"I toured Autumn House East Assisted Living. I wasn't bowled over with them, but they had grounds where you pull up in the back and you see this big brick building. It's very nice to have bird feeders, benches, and flowers, though; that was nice. There's a little office when you first walk in, and everyone was so welcoming and pleasant. We even had an opportunity to talk to a couple of the residents, and they seemed happy there. The staff is very nice. Initially, my daughter and I checked it out, and once we decided that it looked pretty nice, we took my sister and had lunch there. It was a very pleasant experience. The food was tasty and there was a little fruit salad. She and I got different things; she got fish, potatoes, and mixed vegetables with a little fruit bowl and some banana cake for dessert. I got manicotti, and it came with the same vegetables. I wasn't sure that potatoes really went with manicotti, but other than that, everything was pretty tasty. As for being personable and friendly, everyone we met was super nice. The staff was top notch. The facility itself is kind of old, and the aisles were narrower. The feel is very warm and friendly throughout, but the facility is a little dated. It wasn't wild, but it wasn't awful. It was just kind of average. It's the most bang for the buck. You're getting pretty good care, it's pretty nice, and it's much less costly. (We're on a very tight budget.) They encouraged us to come back, bring my sister, and have lunch; they wanted to meet her. They have a bus that takes them to Walmart. They've done other trips like going to the York Fair, and they said they are going to go to Longwood Gardens. It just offered more that way. They do your laundry for you, and they do your house cleaning. They just seemed more active, and people seemed happy as they were walking around."

"We went to see Columbia Cottage. It was very nice. The building was well maintained. The staff members that we interacted with were very nice. They seemed to have taken interest in the residents there. We went into the rooms. The admission people were very nice in explaining everything there. Overall, it was a really good experience. The food smelled good. We saw residents there, and they all seemed very satisfied. It was a good experience."

"My mom will be moving into Autumn House West. The people there are extremely friendly. It's a very, very nice place. The rooms are very clean, a nice size, and very bright. She will be in level one assisted living. I did not to taste the meals however Amber, who was the woman that we have been dealing with is extraordinary. She is over the top. The atmosphere was very, very nice. The people that live there seemed to be extremely friendly and extremely happy. It's a really upbeat atmosphere. They have activities. When we were there, they were getting prepared for their New Year's Eve party. They have painting. They have games that they get a lot of the residents involved with. They have arts and crafts. Their calendar is so full. They bring in live music. They have bingo. They have a lot of activities there."

"It was very clean, and it was tastefully decorated. The personnel was warm and interested in the residents. They had good food, and they had a fireplace in the lobby and many of their occupational therapy activities occurred in that lobby as well as other kinds of meetings, church services, or concerts that other businesses would hold for them. It was good care, and the staff was attentive to my mother-in-law's needs. "

"Victorian Villa was an excellent facility. It was about an hour from my home. It seemed professional but yet home like. The people were extremely friendly. I could sense a secure atmosphere, and I would recommend anyone to visit if they were looking for a personal care home as opposed to a larger facility. The rooms were spacious. The facilities were excellent and well maintained. They had an elevator for residents who needed walkers or scooters. They had exceptional cognitive activities which I really liked. "
