"I toured Harmony at West Shore. It wasn't as large as the other facility, so that felt a little less overwhelming. It's very clean. They have a great two living spaces for assisted living. It was a better feeling. It was not quite as small and cozy as the other facility, but I put it down in my list of top five. If someone was looking for assisted living, it was definitely worth a look. I was satisfied with the staff."

"Autumn House East was a very nice place. They've got nice staff. The director, Michael, who spoke to us was very kind and gave a lot of information. The rooms seemed very clean. We didn't get a chance to do much touring other than what we saw on the way to his office, but it seemed like they have a complete schedule of activities. Even the dining area that we saw looked very nice."

"I visited a friend at the independent living community of Phoebe Berks in Wernersville. The room seemed adequate, and the people seemed friendly. The upkeep of the room was fine, and it was very nice. From what I can tell, the place was well taken care of. I think they have too many amenities because people don't use them. The parking is very nice and adequate. They also have a patio and a garden, and it was nice to sit out there."

"We chose Londonderry Village (Lebanon Valley Brethren Home). We like it very much because it has everything that I would want in a care facility. I have people from church who live there who speak very highly of everybody. They have apartments, cottages, and duplexes. They're the only facility in Pennsylvania that has what they call a Green House for Alzheimer's patients. They have everything going on all the time and have everything you'd need, like a bank, thrift stores, and little grocery stores. You don't really have to leave. They take you on trips, luncheons, or wherever you have to go. They have a restaurant there and facilities for visiting guests to stay at a separate apartment. Another thing is they'd never put out a resident so if you run out of money; they'd take care of you."

"Country Meadows of Hershey is a wonderful assisted living facility. The staff is amazing and they took great care of my mom during the last year of her life. She enjoyed the daily exercise classes with Eugene, the weekly therapy dog visits, the friends that she made there as well as the nursing and support staff. Our family had peace of mind that she was being taken care of by a fantastic group of people. They took the time to really get to know her and connect with her on a personal level. When it’s my time to need assistance, I would have no hesitation in moving there myself. Outstanding experience."

"My aunt is in Hill Farm Estates. It's an elegant alternative to facility living. Their staff is attentive and professional. The rooms are cozy and clean. These are one bedrooms with a bathroom. They have a full activities calendar and a beautiful setting. They have an enormous veranda where the residents can sit and it overlook the Lebanon Valley. It's a beautiful estate. They have regular exercise classes and activities like that. They have three dining rooms and each overlooks the beautiful vistas below the Lebanon Valley. They're less expensive than the typical facilities. It's $2,000 less a month than what she was paying, but it's a beautiful mansion. This facility should be checked out for the benefits and price as well as the living conditions."

"This assisted living program is very friendly and is always looking out for the best interest of the residents. The program offers apartments with more assistance or customizable houses with less assistance, accommodating seniors of all ages and abilities. All residents have access to a gym with exercise programs for all abilities, a cafeteria with varying meal plans, a community garden with reservable spaces, and convenient access to a rails 2 trails bicycle trail that runs directly adjacent to the village. The staff works with residents as well as family of the residents to make the best decisions for everyone. Some residents, like my grandmother, are reluctant to admit that they need to move from their house to the fully assisted living apartments. The staff works with the residents families and doctors to evaluate their health and politely encourage the residents to consider the best options for their well-being. The program also runs a shuttle daily that takes the residents to nearby grocery stores and shopping centers, so they can purchase things they need without having to drive themselves. Overall, this is a quality assisted living program with many benefits to its residents. "

"I have been living in Alden Place for seven years now. It is well laid out. It has a clubhouse with indoor swimming pool, a gym, a big ballroom, pool tables, and a snack bar. They have people come in to teach yoga, Zumba, card games, pinnacle, and bridge. I am in what they call The Villa. It has three homes attached to each other. I am on an end unit, I have a two-car garage, and it is 1,400 square feet including the garage. "

"I toured The Middletown Home. It's very nice. The apartments are beautiful, but I'm not paying for them. Their main meal was at lunchtime, and I don't eat lunch. The staff was very nice, but I can't afford it. They have an activity calendar that they put out for a month."

"My husband's grandmother went to Masonic Home. It's a nice facility with beautiful surroundings. They have everything in there, like you can have your nails done and that is very nice. "

"We decided to leave my dad at Ecumenical Retirement Community. They're taking very good care of him, and food seems to be good. They clean his room, they take him to do activities, and he seems to be happy there. For the most part, the staff has been very good. They do activities, like bingo and artwork. They have a salon and a courtyard."

"I have moved into Brookshire. It's an over-55 community with very active people. There are lots of clubs and organizations, they have a clubhouse with an exercise facility, a craft room, and library and internet access. They have periodic lunches, breakfasts, and dinners. There's bingo and various groups that meet in the clubhouse. I wanted to be close to family, so it fits the bill for that. You own your own home here, and I thought that the price was reasonable for what you get. It's large and it has 234 homes. Once in a while they'll have a community meal that you pay for, but that's more of a social thing; they don't offer meals. There are a lot of senior activities, clubs, and organizations."

"My father was at Kindred Place at Harrisburg. It's a ten in my book. That's pretty much independent living. That place is amazing. If he could stay at Kindred, he would stay there. The staff, the facility, everything was amazing there, but because my dad needs more care, we have to move him. My dad loved the food. The nurses, the activities, I can't say anything bad about them. They're just the whole gamut. It's a wonderful facility. Usually when I go there, they'd have their pizza and beer night and stuff like that. He went to wineries, he went to plays, and he did a lot of stuff with them. They had wonderful activities. They had people come in that did concerts and they had bingo."

"StoneRidge - Poplar Run was very nice. Everybody seemed to know everyone. The staff seemed to know all the people's first names, and everybody was super friendly. They had lots of activities there with dancing and special programs where they bring people in, and they had special dinners. They had upscale restaurants there for special occasions. They would have special things you could order, and it was just really, really nice. We just thought that it was not affordable for us, but it was an excellent place to go. I remember they had an exercise room. They had cottages outback. That was very interesting also besides the apartments inside. The staff was very friendly and very involved with the residents. It was well thought out."
