The tour I had with Autumn House East was a mess up. When I went there, they arranged for somebody to give me a tour, but they didn't know I was coming somehow. It's not a good facility. The people were friendly. The independent living apartment was not handicapped-accessible. The people were also pleasant. The building is reasonably clean. The size of the room was bad. It was kind of small and the bathroom was just a no-go. The environment seemed quiet. The dining area seemed reasonable.

The rooms were super clean and once you walk in the building smells good and has no foul orders. The residents seem so happy and full of smiles and laughter. The staff was super friendly and helpful when I came in and I have no complaints with that department. I would move my family in this building in a heartbeat based on all I seen and witnessed with my own eyes. I got to talk to some of the residents and they all said how much they enjoy living there. Also, I saw some activities they have, and they are very engaged in them.

We did not like Autumn House East at all. It had that bad smell to it. It's an older building, and it's right along the main drag. The person who gave the tour was good. He showed us everything. We had a nice conversation with him. When you walk into a place, you just know right off the bat if you're going to like it or not, and that was just one of them that we crossed off our list from the get-go. The memory care rooms were dated and that just reminded me of a place where you would just sit in the room all day. There wasn't a whole lot going on. We checked the dining area and it was OK.

I toured Autumn House East for my dad. The room was good. The staff who gave the tour was excellent and very informative. They had all kinds of activities. However, I wasn't there that long. We took a short tour and realized that my father would be better off in a nursing home rather than assisted living because of his dementia. The place was clean and well-maintained. They just remodeled and did some other stuff.

Autumn House East was a very nice and clean place. The workers there were wonderful. They took me all around to different rooms. The rooms were quite nice and big enough for like, a bed, a chair, a TV, or whatever you wanted there. There's an outside area with a little garden there. The people that live there are awesome. There were wonderful people there. They said to me, 'If you want to come here, this is where we are every morning. We have coffee here.' It was just very nice and friendly. The room was small. It would be like a bedroom but a little bit bigger where you would have had your bed on one part, and some would have a recliner there and their TV. There were rooms that they could go to. They had exercises and things to do. There were a lot of things that the residents could get involved in. The tour was very nice. They were very informative. They would do everything. It was very nice there. They explained everything. We went into different rooms. The staff would ask the person in that room, 'Can we show her your room?' And the rooms that I looked at were very prominent of the person that was there. They had all their things, they had stuff hanging on the wall, and they had pictures, a TV, a recliner, and their bed there. It was just like a little tiny apartment. The building itself was very clean and very nice. And then outside there was a little garden and chairs to sit out if you wanted. There was a little table in one area where everybody sat in the morning and had their coffee, or they would sit down there and play cards. It was just very nice. I liked that.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I've decided to stay here at Autumn House East. I'm diabetic, and they just give me anything to eat - ice cream, sandwiches, and stuff like that. That just gives me more insulin because they don't give me a good diet. So, if somebody wants to come here with diabetes, they shouldn't come. The ones that can't come to the dining room, they give them their food in the rooms. And the ones with the wheelchairs, the nurses wheel you down to the dining room to eat and then they wheel them back up. All the staff here are very nice. My room is the worst in the whole place, that's why I'm getting a new room tomorrow. It's like a closet. The doors are angled to the hallway, which makes it hard to go out the door. The new room I'm having will be bigger, it will have a bathroom, and it'll be close to the dining room. The only activity they have here is bingo. They brought us all down there to go meet some animals. I thought it was to see a pretty dog, but it was reptiles, rats, mice, and snakes. It was terrible. There's a beauty salon and a library. There's a nice place where you can smoke. The building is old. You look at the ceiling and there are pipes on the ceiling. But in the newer section, it's not like this. I've been to the newer sections where we had activities like bingo, and it's pretty over there.

I moved into Autumn House East. I chose it because it has an available single-living apartment. The staff members are very easy to get along with, caring, kind, and helpful. They have a coffee get-together every morning. They have bingo a couple of times a week. They'll go on short bus tours. The lady who runs the activity is excellent. I'm in my own apartment. It's accessible, easy to get around, and large enough for me. I'm getting what I pay for.

Autumn House East was nice. It was clean and it seemed like it was well run. The staff during the tour was awesome. I liked him a lot. His name was Michael. The dining area looked good. Everything looked fine. People were eating and they seemed happy. They had places to sit, a library, common areas, and a nice cafeteria. They have doctors on site, which is good. It was close to a hospital and everything.

The tour I had at Autumn House East was great. The place was nice and very homey. They just didn't have any availability at the time, but everyone seemed very nice and helpful. The residents seemed happy. Everything was clean and very acceptable to me. It just met my standards. The gentleman who took me around was very friendly. This is my first time being involved in tis stuff and he was very helpful and very understanding to the questions I asked. We went by a room where there were lots of residents playing cards and playing games. There was also an exercise class going on. So, it seemed like they had a lot of of stuff available.

Autumn House East was a very nice place. They've got nice staff. The director, Michael, who spoke to us was very kind and gave a lot of information. The rooms seemed very clean. We didn't get a chance to do much touring other than what we saw on the way to his office, but it seemed like they have a complete schedule of activities. Even the dining area that we saw looked very nice.

Autumn House East seemed a little dated so I wasn't sure at first, but when I got in there, the staff was welcoming and very informative on our tour. I met with the person who did the intake and she interviewed me and answered my questions. She was very, very polite, very open, and very honest about the site and what they could offer to my mother. It's located right across the street where Walmart is. There are lots of different restaurants nearby and places to go shopping. We walked through the whole community and I got to meet some residents. It was very clean and very nice. Everybody seemed very comfortable. She invited us back for food and to have my mom come and have lunch. So, they were very, very accommodating. They have a nice courtyard and what's nice about it, too, is you don't hear the sounds of the traffic on the main road. It's very, very quiet.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My parents are in the memory care unit of Autumn House East. The rooms have a queen-size bed, two chairs, and a TV. They have their own bathroom but they have to get a shower down the hall, it's like a community shower type of thing. The staff is really helpful, very friendly, and very knowledgeable about what they need to do and how they treat the people with dementia and the other illnesses that are there. I have seen the meals too and they looked pretty decent. They do activities like coloring books and stuff like that, but I thought they were talking more about physical exercise. They said that they're looking into that option but I said, "How long does it take? It's been February since they've been there." That's the only thing that I was upset about because all they do now is sit in their room and watch TV or once in a while they'll go down and get into the activities room. They get their activities done, but I'm just a little disappointed about the kind of activity they have. Also, sometimes the staff is hard to find because they're having a hard time getting people to work, but that's just like everywhere else.

Rooms are not cleaned even once a week. Meals are not served hot three times a day. Meals look and taste terrible, and appear to be getting worse. Sheets and towels are not changed once a week. Pushing a button for help gets you no help. You must be able to crawl to the door and scream for help. They have frequent staff turnover. Try to call anyone in management and you will need to leave a message or two. They may not even call you back even if you are a resident. This is the worst-managed place.

Autumn House East is a nice location, it's more in the suburbs. It's a very nice setup and a very laid back and quiet community. I saw one of the halls where they're playing bingo. The staff, Mike, showed me the building as far as where assisted living will be at and where independent living is located. I saw the cafeteria. They also deliver to your room so you can eat inside your room for breakfast, lunch and dinner, which is better. And he went in detail as far as the things that the home has to offer like shopping and doctors help and assistance. And then they finalized that by showing me the room. The room was very large, had a kitchen and it, had its own bathroom and everything was very nice. The staff is very good. It's very well kept and everything is clean, there are no issues at all. As soon as you walk in the door, you see people in the hall playing bingo. They had a patio in the front that was very popular, and they had a location in the back where you can sit along the sidewalk. The independent living room that he showed me was very well kept up, the rug was replaced with square rugs. And they explained why they did it, that if something gets messed up, they can easily pull that up and put a new one down. The walls were painted, the kitchen was cleaned, everything was well kept.

I toured Autumn House East Assisted Living. I wasn't bowled over with them, but they had grounds where you pull up in the back and you see this big brick building. It's very nice to have bird feeders, benches, and flowers, though; that was nice. There's a little office when you first walk in, and everyone was so welcoming and pleasant. We even had an opportunity to talk to a couple of the residents, and they seemed happy there. The staff is very nice. Initially, my daughter and I checked it out, and once we decided that it looked pretty nice, we took my sister and had lunch there. It was a very pleasant experience. The food was tasty and there was a little fruit salad. She and I got different things; she got fish, potatoes, and mixed vegetables with a little fruit bowl and some banana cake for dessert. I got manicotti, and it came with the same vegetables. I wasn't sure that potatoes really went with manicotti, but other than that, everything was pretty tasty. As for being personable and friendly, everyone we met was super nice. The staff was top notch. The facility itself is kind of old, and the aisles were narrower. The feel is very warm and friendly throughout, but the facility is a little dated. It wasn't wild, but it wasn't awful. It was just kind of average. It's the most bang for the buck. You're getting pretty good care, it's pretty nice, and it's much less costly. (We're on a very tight budget.) They encouraged us to come back, bring my sister, and have lunch; they wanted to meet her. They have a bus that takes them to Walmart. They've done other trips like going to the York Fair, and they said they are going to go to Longwood Gardens. It just offered more that way. They do your laundry for you, and they do your house cleaning. They just seemed more active, and people seemed happy as they were walking around.

Autumn House East is a convenient location for us. The director, Michael, was just really accommodating. He pretty much said that any hobbies or activities that my grandmother wants to do, he would try to make them happen. The guy that gave us the tour was really great. He pretty much did anything he could to make my grandmother feel comfortable. He also spoke to her, not to me, which I thought was really awesome. They let us have lunch, and that was really nice. She really enjoyed the food. He told me that they have field trips going on weekly, as well as arts and crafts, bingo, and food themed days. They have a cat that lives there too. Even when we were there at 7 o'clock, people were still sitting in the common areas, hanging out and talking. The place was really nice and clean.

The staff that I met at Autumn House East were very professional. They answered all my questions, were willing to show me several different room layouts, and gave me the price ranges for each. I saw their game room, dining room, and the amenities they have. The facility was very clean and everybody was very friendly. The other residents were roaming around at will and it felt like it was a very nice atmosphere, not a typical nursing home. It's like a little community inside and I thought it would have been perfect for my step mom when the time comes. There were a couple of dining rooms and they were very big, spacious, and very home-like. It wasn't like a cafeteria-looking type. They decorated it in a way that it felt homey. They introduced me to the activities director and they had a schedule of what's going on every day at different times, and some of the residents can come on their own. The ones that need help, said they would go to the room and bring the people out to go to the activity.

I didn't like Autumn House East. It's in the middle of the city, it's enclosed, and it's like you're in a penitentiary. They have the same amenities as the rest of them. Since it's located in the middle of the city, they don't have much room for outside activities or anything, and you're confined inside the area.

My grandmother has been living in this facility for the past year and she absolutely loves it here! The nurses and other employees are so nice and caring for the residents it’s amazing! All the employees always have smiles on their faces and are always so welcoming to all the new residents! The activities director is amazing! She has activities like wii bowling, which is my grandmas favorite, and other fun activities scheduled at specific times during the week. Not to mention, the rooms are so cozy! Each room really does feel like home and my grandma absolutely loves it. All the residents here are so nice and loving to one and other it’s also amazing!
