"My husband's grandmother went to Masonic Home. It's a nice facility with beautiful surroundings. They have everything in there, like you can have your nails done and that is very nice. "

"We toured St. Anne's Retirement Community. It was wonderful, and they did a really good job. We visited a one-bedroom, a two-bedroom, and also a one-bedroom with a den, and all those rooms had two bathrooms with a main bathroom and a half bath if you had visitors. The parking was fine. The one building has underground parking, and you would pay extra for that. The other ones had plenty of spaces and were marked off with numbers so they would belong to somebody. They had a little luncheon for us, and it was very nice. It was one of the best potato salads I ever tasted. We visited the cottages and the apartments, and I like the apartments better than the cottages."

"We got my mother-in-law moved into Shrewsbury Lutheran Retirement Village. It's great. We love it and we're very happy with it. The room is very nice and roomy. My mother-in-law likes it. I haven't tried any food yet, but it's a nice presentation, and she seems to like it. She hasn't gotten too involved in the activities yet, but they offer a lot of them. They do crafts, trivia, and baking. They have special rooms for the activities and a gathering room where they do movies and church services. They also have a beauty shop and the bank comes in there every so often. Value is a five because other facilities we inquired about were more expensive."

"We went to a place called Cross Keys. It's very large and appears to be very well-run. It's run by the Brethren, and they have a pretty nice facility. I think they have something like 300 or 400 acres. They have stand-alone homes and multiple homes; they have the whole gamut. They had a swimming pool, three restaurants, and a bank. It's like a regular community. We had a meal with them. The meal was very fine; it was very well-done. The staff appeared to all be very genial and very helpful, as only a sales staff can do. Cross Keys has many, many amenities. It's just a really, very well-done place. We've recommended it to a couple of people to go look at it, and it has a pretty good reputation in this area. "

"The most recent time I've gone to visit don down at the homestead, I was greeted by the most friendly of nursing staff. More specific I talked to a woman by the name of Ann here all the time when i visit she is one of his primary care-takers for the most part it seems. She's absolutely fantastic. She will carry on with him while making whatever it is they might have planned for that day of the week fun! And i feel i must say how clean all of the bathroom facilities are. I'm impressed with the work the staff does every time I go to visit my pap, because I know deep down he's going to be taken care of by good and caring people! I would highly recommend anyone friend or family member to the Homestead any day. They have taken good care of my pap and I'm sure will take amazing care of all their residents. "

"I've visited the place and it's actually nice. The people and staff are very friendly. The staff who showed us around was very responsive and answered all our questions. And they provide different levels of assistance. They keep their residents very busy and have a specific fitness program. The place is clean and well kept. It's actually very nice. We haven't got any chance to check other facilities, but I like the place. "

"Woodcrest Villa is top of the line. It's probably the second nicest in the county that my mother lives in. They have Bingo, a pool, a gym, they get them into little groups at night and play dominos or Skip-Bo. They have a raised garden and they let people grow vegetables or whatever they want to grow. They have a dog park. There are different sizes and kinds of rooms. Her room is not huge, but it's not a studio, it's a 1-bedroom with a bath and a full kitchen. She really likes the staff. However, she told me that sometimes the food is cold and sometimes it's not seasoned very well. The dining area is big and you have all you can eat in the one dining room and you can go back as many times as you want. They also have another dining room that you can be served in and a cafe, which is only open at lunchtime. There's a small store there where you can buy food and other items. They have a bank on location, a hairdresser, and a pharmacy. If you need blood work, you can get that done there, too. They have a doctor that comes in and you can make an appointment to get your nails cut there. One of the best things about it is if you run out of money, they don't kick you out. You always have a place to stay."

"We are very happy with the care and attention our mother is receiving! All staff members are efficient, courteous, and are both polite and friendly while supplying care. The facility is beautifully decorated, and kept immaculately clean! Everyone we have come into contact with is friendly, helpful and kind to the residents. "

"While my interaction with the nursing staff was limited, the events coordinator was wonderful and so helpful. He truly had the interests of his residents at heart and very positively guided groups to activities that the residents would most enjoy. The few nurses that I did interact with were amazing. They were receptive to the requests of their residents and completed most tasks with a smile. I was most impressed with the number of activities that were offered to the residents. The calendar was full of organized church services, sing a longs, and concerts. The facilities were immaculate. I was able to tour common areas, personal cottages for the more independent residents, and rooms of those within the assisted living area. While the rooms were not exactly what I would consider to be spacious, the size was in line with what I have seen at other nursing facilities. The amount of personalization that they allowed their residents was uplifting. Residents were able to have their own chairs from home as well as lamps and other decor. While I did not personally experience the food at Homewood, the residents all seemed to enjoy what they offered. "

"My parents lived there for many years and loved it. My mother went from apartment to assisted living to rehab to nursing care. Rooms were nice. Staff was excellent."

"There's absolutely nothing I didn't like about Window Valley except for the fact that it snowed. The rooms are absolutely beautiful. What I was looking at was a 2-bedroom apartment. The staff was absolutely professional and friendly. My son's mother-in-law lives there. I've known many people who have lived there because I originally came from Lancaster. The plan that I'm looking at there is just what I can't find in Florida. It's totally independent living in an apartment building with a restaurant. There's no food plan. You purchase meals at the restaurant and you cook for yourself, which is what I like to do. "

"We saw a couple of different model apartments at Willow Valley Communities. It is a large community. There are 2200 people there. There are a lot of facilities like swimming pools, gyms, bike paths, dog parks and all of that. We sampled the food and they did a pretty nice job. The upkeep was tremendous. I've been to that community a couple of times and each time it amazes me how well it's kept. The meals we had were very complete. You get a monthly meal allowance and the price of the food is fairly reasonable. The staff was very friendly, very nice, and very helpful in answering questions. The people who live there were very helpful in answering questions, too. It was by far the nicest community that I've seen."

"I toured Pleasant View Communities. The buildings are not connected, meaning you have to go outside to go to everything. It's a nice community, it's not very old. I didn't like it because you weren't connected. They didn't connect their apartments to any of their facilities. The apartments were nice and there was nothing wrong with the apartments. The maintenance was very well done. They have nice outdoor spaces, but I wasn't crazy about it in any manner. The staff who gave the tour was excellent. I ate there and the food was good. Their dining area was okay. There was no food included in the price and it was a small area. It was elegant but small."
