My wife wanted to go to Homestead Village when she was still alive. It was a little older, but they had a multitude of field trips and activities. I think there's a lake as part of the complex. We were looking at it for independent living. They had snacks available when we were visiting. They had villas. Some of them were newer, but the others were older and not as spacious. They had patios, too. There was a lake by some of the villas, and those were the newer and larger ones.

At Homestead Village, I like the grounds, the cleanliness, and the residents of the facility. The staff was very professional and responsive. A lot of the apartments have been renovated to include ceramic tiled showers and granite countertops, and they are aesthetically appealing. The food is above average, and there are a lot of choices. They have swimming, musical activities, spiritual activities, and trips, so there are quite few things available to do. However, in the skilled care area, sometimes there appeared to be a shortage of staff.

Homestead Village was very nice, and the staff was very nice, but the facility was a lot older. I just didn't get the feeling that I got in the facility we chose. The apartments were lovely. I really couldn’t find any fault. The people who lived there were so nice. My first impression about the environment and the residents was very positive. But it is old, and they have to catch up.

Homestead Village was right next to our church, and I went there. It had an excellent environment and pleasant view. It was just the right size. The waiting list was pretty long, and it would probably take maybe four or five years if I signed up there. The price was also high, like the other facilities I saw.

NovaCare is right next to our church, and the church is the one that founded it for the church members, but the church members can't get in now. Everyone is out from outside, and you have to wait in line for three or four years before you can get in. My aunt went there, and I'm aware of the facility. I've taken a couple of tours there. Our problem is we need it now, and we can't wait three or four years before we can get in. They have all kinds of activities. They have a pool, for one thing, and they have activity centers and exercise rooms. They take them on trips. One of my good buddies is the director of activities there. He's from our church, and he's been there for some time. They have a little putting green out there for some of the guys who want to putt, and they have their own little bus. They take them to the store, and they'll take them to their doctor's appointments. Everything is a plus. The apartments varied in size, and they have the cottages also. It has a great location, and the facilities are up to date. Everything is very, very neat. It's outstanding.

The most recent time I've gone to visit don down at the homestead, I was greeted by the most friendly of nursing staff. More specific I talked to a woman by the name of Ann here all the time when i visit she is one of his primary care-takers for the most part it seems. She's absolutely fantastic. She will carry on with him while making whatever it is they might have planned for that day of the week fun! And i feel i must say how clean all of the bathroom facilities are. I'm impressed with the work the staff does every time I go to visit my pap, because I know deep down he's going to be taken care of by good and caring people! I would highly recommend anyone friend or family member to the Homestead any day. They have taken good care of my pap and I'm sure will take amazing care of all their residents.
