"My husband and I have recently reserved an apartment in the new expansion at Roland Park Place. We have had nothing but incredible attention to our needs and desires. The staff bends over backwards to accommodate in every possible way! They are even not only making it possible to have our unit reconfigured, but they are actively working with the architectural and engineering staff to do the best they can to fulfill our requests. Roland Park Place’s activities, programs and events are a dizzying array of intellectual, cultural, health-building, recreational and travel opportunities par excellence. Once an apartment is reserved, the future residents are welcome to take advantage of all activities, programs, and trips. Already, we feel like we are joining a very close-knit family. We recently attended a posh reception that RPP sponsored to introduce us to many other future residents. While many current resident have aged beautifully in place having, however, slowed down quite a bit, we met lots of future residents who are vibrant, colorful, bright, interesting very active folks, many of whom bonded very quickly, discovering that we had many, many things in common. I can NOT imagine another place in which I’d like to spend my remaining years!!! A-AND I can NOT wait to move in. "Our experience with Pickersgill Retirement Community has been very good. The admissions person that helped us was very good and very friendly. My mother-in-law has a one-bedroom and a one bath, with a living room, and a small kitchenette. The staff has been great so far. I have had no issues. Occupational therapy has been working with her. She said the food is very good. They give her her medication and if she doesn't report to the meds station, they go to her. They have a lot of activities there, like church services and outings. They're very supportive, they have a lot of things going on for her, a lot of help if she needs it, and they do her laundry and clean her room once a week. I'm pretty satisfied with them. It's very reasonable."

"My mom was a resident of Presbyterian Home of Maryland for several years. They took exceptional care of her. I know many other folks that lived at there during her stay and they all said it was wonderful. Personally I was always treated well and was impressed by the caring staff. "Most people don’t do their homework. They don’t even know what questions to ask. We chose Edenwald after researching CCRC’s for 5 years. We had a matrix of our wants and needs and rated them on our visits. We learned what questions to ask. We visited about 12 CCRC’s, then narrowed them down to the top 3 and then went back for 5 more visits to each one. We spent the night (highly recommended), visited apartments of the residents, ate the food, went to their concerts/programs, and swam in the pools. With each visit or open house we learned another new piece of information. Edenwald became the perfect fit for us. This is not a decision to be made likely. And we made the decision ourselves so that our children did not choose for us. It was a daunting task, emptying a house we loved after 38 years. So much stuff! But Edenwald provided a move manager who came to the house and helped with the downsizing. We also used their moving and packing service. Our emotions and physical fortitude weren’t up to doing it ourselves. Our children have professional lives and couldn’t help either. When we visited each CCRC, we asked the residents what they regretted about moving there. Most replied that they waited too late. And wished they had moved in 10 years earlier. So we did. I moved in at 70 and my husband at 74. We have the vitality and the enthusiasm to enjoy all they have to offer. And to contribute our honed skills to benefit other residents, who mirror our friends from our old neighborhood. Our friends have said they “aren’t ready. Next year, they are not getting younger. After 70, your ability to deal with this kind of change wanes. I didn’t think I would like a high rise. I was wrong. During our overnight stay, I discovered how easy it is to get around. How much more active we are. How everything is so much easier!!! Easier lifestyle: Bus transportation to shopping and grocery stores with items delivered to your door, maintenance personnel to help with any house hold repairs, cleaning service in our apartment, medical personnel onsite, so many venues and styles to choose for dining, a bank and ATM, a small convenience store. You can be as sociable as you want. So many new friends! No isolation. And a financial package that was very doable for us. We still like to travel, and the discount on our monthly fee paid for our trips. If I’m gone for a long weekend, my husband has many invitations for dinner. And our kids were surprised that we can still have our holiday dinners in our apartment. Our health care fees are included in our monthly fee. We don’t have adequate long term care insurance. Most people say they have it but when they analyze what they do have, they realize it won’t last and won’t cover much. We can visit each other in the same building if either of us moves to another level of care. I won’t be in one facility and my husband in another. What I nightmare! Our children are especially happy we have moved in. Could you image spending your life going between two different facilities to take care of Mom and Dad? They know we are cared for so they don’t have to worry or interrupt their work/lives. And they won’t have to empty our apartment when we die. Such a relief to them. BTW- 70% of the monthly fee goes to staff salaries. They stay. "

"I was immediately impressed with North Oaks Retirement Community. They offer many options for residents from almost independent to constant supervision. The community provides a number of "apartments" where couples can live that offer the conveniences of apartment living with the full care of North Oaks and amenities attached. The grounds were clean and staff was friendly. The community has private dining facilities where residents can invite their families to have a large meal with cooking done by the dining staff. When my grandmother had a stroke she was moved into the area where residents are under almost constant supervision by nurses and staff. I was impressed by the level of care available to my family members. Her rehabilitation was progressing very well until the time of her death. My grandfather who still lives there has found comfort in the number of other residents with which he has become friends. He enjoys the activities and trips available to residents and has even met a girlfriend of sorts. Overall I am impressed with North Oaks and I am glad my grandfather has found a community that suits his needs. "

"Mercy Ridge is a beautiful area. The buildings, the grounds, the staff, and the inside are very nice, including the cleanliness, the apartment, the furniture, the common areas, the way they are set up. The food was very good. The dining area has stations and it's well appointed -- it even has a bistro. My friends play cards and they make arrangements for them to go to shows outside. They also have a happy hour."

"My mom is going to go to Charlestown by Erickson Senior Living. We chose this community because once she is in there, she stays in there. They will take care of her until she dies. They have a step-down care. The atmosphere is very convivial, and the living spaces are very generous. One meal a day is included. Everything is on campus. They have a hairdresser, a gym, a pool, and a chapel. They have multiple chapels, and they have about 6 or 7 restaurants. They have health care onsite. They have a CVS on site. So it's complete. I tried their food, and it was restaurant quality."

"We went to Oak Crest. They only have apartments. There's no housing whatsoever, but they do have facilities where they take care of you if anything happens. We took the tour, and I said to my husband, "There is no way I can live in a teeny tiny room like that. No way." If we're going to go there, we want a place on the main floor so we can walk out because we have a dog. I don't want to run up and down an elevator with my dog. Also, they didn't have anything available, and what they did have, I didn't like, and neither did my husband. We went to lunch with my daughter's in-laws that live there. They have a one-bedroom with a den apartment. The den is off the kitchen. It's open, and there are no walls. There is just a half-wall between the kitchen and the den, so if somebody is watching TV or in the kitchen, you don't have anywhere to go except in the bedroom, and who wants to do that? Not me. The lady that gave us the tour was fine. She knew what she was doing. She was informed. The place was immaculate, too."

"I currently live in Greens at English Consul. Overall, it's a nice facility. My only concern is the management company itself. I'm not satisfied with the upkeep. They have activities very rarely. We used to have a movie night. We've not had that for months now. They normally have a little Christmas celebration. That's pretty much it. My room is very spacious. You have the option to rent a washer and dryer, so they have washer and dryer hookups. In the area itself, you very rarely hear of any crime, so that's a plus. I lived here in 2016 and moved out in 2018 down to North Carolina, then I moved back here in 2019. When I lived here prior, it was beautiful and exceptional. I would give it fives across for the management and everything, but it's now being managed by a different management company, and I can see the difference. The quality of it is not as good as it was before. The management staff is just not what I recall, professional or caring or that type of thing. It's unfortunate because it's a nice place. We have beautiful amenities here. We have an exercise room, a very nice laundry center, a room where we have health professionals that come, and they have a podiatrist that comes once a month. It could be a nice place if management was better."

"My dad is at Maryland Masonic Homes. It is a nice facility with really caring staff. My father has dementia, so he's in good health, but he is not in his right mind. The place is very clean. Because of COVID, the dining is now shut down and they do in-room dining, but normally there are three restaurants here. Normally the clients eat in a restaurant, they can have guests, and you can have a meal with them, but due to COVID restrictions right now, there's in-room dining only. There are all kinds of activities, but again, right now due to COVID, social distancing helps very little with doing a lot of the activities. They have therapy and a fitness room. They also have therapy on site. They play different board games, and they do puzzles for the clients to help them with their memories. So, they try to do things like that. The services he gets is probably a "four," and he gets a lot of services here."

"My mother has been a resident of Broadmead Retirement Community since June 2012. We have been thoroughly impressed and very pleased at the care level with the nurses, and caregivers. Also, the activities available are awesome. Additionally, the Physical Therapy options are numerous; exercise classes daily. We've had experience with other facilities; Broadmead shines above all others. We're grateful daily for the superb care, and importantly the response to individual needs. "
