"I was immediately impressed with North Oaks Retirement Community. They offer many options for residents from almost independent to constant supervision. The community provides a number of "apartments" where couples can live that offer the conveniences of apartment living with the full care of North Oaks and amenities attached. The grounds were clean and staff was friendly. The community has private dining facilities where residents can invite their families to have a large meal with cooking done by the dining staff. When my grandmother had a stroke she was moved into the area where residents are under almost constant supervision by nurses and staff. I was impressed by the level of care available to my family members. Her rehabilitation was progressing very well until the time of her death. My grandfather who still lives there has found comfort in the number of other residents with which he has become friends. He enjoys the activities and trips available to residents and has even met a girlfriend of sorts. Overall I am impressed with North Oaks and I am glad my grandfather has found a community that suits his needs. "

"Mercy Ridge was a Catholic facility, and it was huge and safe. It was a place where the Church put their retired bishops and a lot of clergy; even the Cardinal had a place there. My mother-in-law really felt at home there because she's a very conservative Catholic. There was a certain amount needed to get in, but they didn't touch it, and it would be given back. She had a two-bedroom apartment with two bathrooms, kitchen, and living room. There was a huge pool in the basement, so there were lots of aerobics. They also had a regular workout room and movie theater. Some of the activities were cards, bingo, and entertainers came on a regular basis. It was like being on a cruise ship. They had four restaurants. One required a dress code, where you wore a coat or long-sleeved sweater. Another was like a cafeteria, one was like a pub, and the other one, I was not sure what it was called. So she had a choice wherever she wanted to go. The rent covered her one meal a day, and whatever extra meal she wanted to have, it was just added to the bill. She could take her meal wherever she wanted to, or they could bring it upstairs if she wanted. When we visited there, they had a place for us to stay, and we ate the same food that they did, and it was marvelous. The staff were very attentive and friendly. She liked the staff, and she had made friends there. She had lived there for almost eight years, and she liked it. It was the best place for her among the other places we visited. I would recommend this place, and if you were a traditional Catholic, you would very much feel at home. "

"I toured Charlestown by Erickson Senior Living. I had lunch there. It was a gorgeous place. The landscape stood out. The rooms were like apartments inside. You never had to go off of the property. They had beauty parlors on the property. You get your hair done and there was a nail salon. It was like a city within the property itself. It was basically like a condo community within the property for seniors and for assisted living people. They never really come off the property unless they were just going outside shopping. It was big. It was huge (really huge). The staff was very nice. We had lunch there. They prepared lunch and everything. They really tried to get your business. The food is gorgeous, and they actually have different restaurants. They had different sized suites. The room was your choice, according to the style of the room and the cost of the room. It was whatever you could afford. It's a beautiful place, if you can afford it. It was definitely on the high-end spectrum."

"The tour was very nice. The physical structure of the Oak Crest is excellent. The facilities connect to each other, and every apartment is connected to the main area. You have a choice of three or four restaurants so you never have to go out if you don't wish. If you have a need to go into an assisted living, it's also connected to the central building. Anybody can go and see you and pick you up without ever getting out of the community. They own their own television station which is local to the people within the facility. All these are very nice. Most of the smaller units, you have to go through the closet in order to get to the bathroom which is sort of a turn off. They do have a model in all of the later made units with the separate walk-in closet as well as a private entrance to the bathroom. They have medical doctors and nurses on the staff. The nurses are on 24 hours a day. "

"My dad is at Maryland Masonic Homes. It is a nice facility with really caring staff. My father has dementia, so he's in good health, but he is not in his right mind. The place is very clean. Because of COVID, the dining is now shut down and they do in-room dining, but normally there are three restaurants here. Normally the clients eat in a restaurant, they can have guests, and you can have a meal with them, but due to COVID restrictions right now, there's in-room dining only. There are all kinds of activities, but again, right now due to COVID, social distancing helps very little with doing a lot of the activities. They have therapy and a fitness room. They also have therapy on site. They play different board games, and they do puzzles for the clients to help them with their memories. So, they try to do things like that. The services he gets is probably a "four," and he gets a lot of services here."

"My mother has been a resident of Broadmead Retirement Community since June 2012. We have been thoroughly impressed and very pleased at the care level with the nurses, and caregivers. Also, the activities available are awesome. Additionally, the Physical Therapy options are numerous; exercise classes daily. We've had experience with other facilities; Broadmead shines above all others. We're grateful daily for the superb care, and importantly the response to individual needs. "

"I moved to Vantage Point from NY to be near my son and his family. I toured several independent living facilities in the area and chose Vantage for several reasons. Some are: Friendly, helpful staff Large airy apartments The highrise doesn't require me to go outside for activities or meals. My pets were welcomed I was able to chose my apartment updates The residents are diverse and welcoming. I have been her almost 2 years and have found that Vantage is well-run, has excellent activities and I am glad I am here."

"They were all very helpful at Fairhaven. They have independent living villas, independent living cottages, and apartments. They had several different tours that they took us on to show us around, and it was very helpful to know their cost, etc. "

"There's no Internet available at Carroll Lutheran Village, and that's a deal-breaker. Outside of that, I would have been satisfied. The apartments were nice-sized and were nice. I wouldn't have had to downsize or get rid of anything just because it wouldn't fit there. I could have chosen what furniture to take with me and wouldn't have had a problem going shopping. The grounds were pretty and very nice. They had different things for people to do there, and they had a pool. "

"Brook Grove is an absolutely fantastic and magnificent facility. This place is gorgeous. The surroundings are rural with lots of trees. It is an expansive piece of land, and the scenery is beautiful. It has woods and fields with small cottage for people who want to live or need to live independently. It goes to assisted living, and nobody ever gets kicked out. This is the place where I would choose to go and retire. People are very easy going, and they have all kinds of activities. "

"My mom is living in an assisted living facility called Zimmerman's. It is run by the Lutheran Church. She has received excellent care there. The staff really knows her , me and my brother and seem to be genuine concerned about her welfare. It is on eof the few places that I don't worry about her. I know if there is a problem, they will notify me right away. "

"Riderwood was my first choice. It's a big community, and they have a lot of things going on. The people were really nice. I ate there, and the food was great. They do have a lot of activities. They have a church you can go to. You get one meal a day at their independent living. The room I looked at that I was willing to take if I had enough money was considered a studio, and it had good windows which overlooks the lake. They also have a full kitchen and separate areas for the living room and the bedroom. They had washers and dryers. "

"My tour at Ginger Cove was nice, everything was freshened up and modern. The layout of the place was good, the rooms were nice and neat, and the amenity spaces were well-lit and modern. The staff that I met during the tour was great, they were courteous and had a lot of information. They had different activities and things to do and keep up with modern fitness."
