"I toured The Terraces at Capitol Village. The overall experience was very good. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The units were very nice. I looked at an efficiency unit for the gentleman that I'm looking for. It had a kitchenette and a very nice bathroom. I was there right before suppertime. Everything smelled good. That whole cafeteria set-up was nice. The overall condition was very nice. The staff gave me a monthly calendar of all the activities that the people could go to. It also had the dinners that were going to be served, so that was very well organized."

"My two parents moved into The Heritage just before the pandemic. They are very happy there and we enjoy visiting them. The restaurant staff that they hire are always friendly and attentive. The management treats the residents as part of a team. The other patrons are almost always happy which makes the atmosphere positively upbeat. "

"We went to visit Cornwall Manor because it didn't seem like it was a retirement community. They have single-family homes that retirees can get or apartments, and those are spaced out throughout the property. They're not all crammed into one place, and they have different kinds of apartments you can buy into, depending on what your needs are. There are a lot of amenities and we like what they have to offer, and they have an indoor swimming pool. The overall tour was very good and the staff that gave the tour was excellent. She was very knowledgeable, wasn't pushy, she says we take time to make our decision and she's willing to work with us. The facility was very clean and well kept."

"People that I had known had good care at Lebanon Valley Brethren Home. As far as I observed the few times I was there, the people seemed happy with the care. The rooms were nice and adequate. There were activities available. "

"We have chosen StoneRidge Poplar Run. We both visited personal care and health care. My aunt will be living in personal care. The facility is very nice and well-kept. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. There are activities planned that are appropriate and seemed to be fun. My aunt went with me; both of us toured it. They have therapies if you need them, crafts, singers or music entertainment that comes into the facility. They have movies. The rooms are very nice. They have a small refrigerator. There's room for personal furniture like a recliner. They have bathing facilities there. I like the design. There are four wings that go off where the dining room is and where the activities are. They would have swimming pool access and access to even more activities. They're not just limited to what's available in their area. They have other options as well. The staff that I met were friendly and knowledgeable."

"Pleasant View Communities was very lovely, but it's more expensive than what we wanted to pay. They have a lot of good programs. There were bus trips that you could take, like to the grocery store. They have a dining room, a pool, and equipment that you can exercise. They have a lot of good things going on there. It's a very big home and they are now building more homes. The lady that took us around was very good, but we didn't meet any other staff. We ate in the restaurant that they have there, and that was very good."

"United Zion Retirement Community is very clean and well-kept. Their food is very good. They could use a little more staff. They're very nice, but each person has plenty to do. It doesn't have a swimming pool or some of the health things that other places have. I think the cost is a little less because of that. It's very well established. It's been here a long time. They have local people doing the cooking. I know they have invited some of the people who are in independent living to come into the kitchen and help them prepare food. They allow some of that, such as green beans, that they just need to have the ends snipped off and broken into pieces, things like that, not necessarily things that they would need to use a knife. I don't think they do a lot of trips and things like that. It's a very good value because it's a very safe place and very low key and I think that makes it very safe. There's nothing here I would improve. It's very secure. I chose it because of availability and reasonable rates plus their reputation here in town is excellent. They will be opening a new building and have 36 new apartments."

"My grandmother is currently a resident of this facility. My grandmother recently had a stroke while in their care. The residents called my father right away. They set her up with physical therapy to help her with any damage done during the stroke. When I have been over to visit her everyone calls her by her name. When she stops and introduces me to any of the workers, they always send time asking me questions and pretending it was the first time they met me. I have also witnessed the workers with other residents. I have never seen a worker not address a resident by their name. There is a nurse there who my grandmother always talks about. Apparently this particular nurse spends time with my grandmother and has even played Scrabble with her in the nurse's spare time. I would definitely recommend Moravian Manor to any one searching for a place for their loved ones. The people who work here definitely take the time to know and care for their residents. "

"We frequently visited Luther Acres. We have a relative there. She was in independent living with her husband. He passed away, and now she's in personal care, but it was all done seamlessly. It's a great facility. Her room is small, but that is more due to her own choices. She moved from a pretty nice-sized cottage to there. The food had lots of variety. They wait on you personally, and it's just a nice dining experience. It's large and it's all inclusive. The staff was always welcoming. They used technology for their security, which was good for a huge place like that, so I appreciated all that. It seemed like they had a lot of things going on. They have a pool. Parking was fine."

"The apartments at Masonic Village at Elizabethtown have multiple floor plans, two-bedrooms, and beautiful layouts. You get a one meal per day food allowance or a 30-meal allowance per month, so I can use my meal tickets for dinner and just prepare my own breakfast. Also, I get a light cleaning every other week. It is a very big complex with many shaded areas and wi-fi. In that same building is a large function hall, a cafe, and a formal dining room which is beautiful, and I don’t have to dress up if I want to eat there. They have a library, a mini-market, a gift shop, and a bank all in one building; I never have to go out the door. I can go to the swimming pool and in the summer go to the garden and get a little pot to plant some stuff. Having the food allowance is great. It gives me options; I can use up all the meal allowance for 15 days or I can use it any way I want. And because I am handicapped, the cleaning will help me on a few issues. Those are the reasons why I am choosing Masonic Village. They also have dental and medical clinics on the premises. "

"We only visited one place, and that was Brethren Village. It was a community that had independent living, assisted living and long-term car. It was a very large community. It had all the facilities for swimming, exercise, and educational classes, few shops, and many times. It had a couple of restaurants inside. It was a very nice place for people who wanted or needed to live there. We had someone who gave a personal tour. A lady in the marketing, and she explained everything to us in great detail in the beginning before the tour. The apartment was very nice. It was a two-bedroom apartment, but it was small. "

"I visited Woodcrest Villa/Mennonite Home and I liked it. It was very nice. I wasn't that impressed with the apartment, but the inside the common area, the dining room, the furniture, and all things were really nice. I had lunch there and I thought the food was excellent. The staff welcomed me very well. "

"Homestead Village was right next to our church, and I went there. It had an excellent environment and pleasant view. It was just the right size. The waiting list was pretty long, and it would probably take maybe four or five years if I signed up there. The price was also high, like the other facilities I saw. "

"I'm very pleased with St. John's Herr Estate. I am with people around my age so we have a lot in common. I got an apartment with a dining room, living room, bedroom, bathroom, and a full kitchen. So it's nice. They give me a $125 a month credit for my meals and I can go up and eat in their restaurant. I normally have breakfast every day and make my other meals myself. The menu is varied and it's always well-prepared, well-done, and never overcooked. It's great. We get all kinds of activities going on here. They have bus trips going down to the bank and shopping centers. Then they have bingo here, Wii bowling, shuffleboard, and all kinds of stuff going on. They even have a small farm at the end of the property where you can do some gardening if you want to. The staff is very friendly and cooperative. They'd do anything you ask them to do. The facility is almost brand new. It is clean and well-maintained. For what I paid to get in, it was more than reasonable. It's a one-time fee and then I pay a monthly fee for my apartment. It's a good price."

"My mother is at St. Anne's Retirement Community for the rehab part of it. They have very good care there. She got all the help that she needed. They take very good care of her. We are happy with the care that she got. They do really well with what they have to work with. Obviously, it could be better, but it could be worse as well. If you don’t care for what they've prepared, you can pick other things that they will make for you, so that’s very nice. "

"My brother is in Fairmount Homes for rehab. It's been wonderful, absolutely wonderful. It's beautiful, well run, well taken care of, and the nurses are all so nice. It's a great place to be. They're open and honest. They talk so you can understand what they're saying. So many of them use professional words that Mr. and Mrs. don't understand, but these guys are really good. They have a cafe, and it's OK. It's right on the very top of a ridge. You could see five miles in either direction."

"I went to Country Meadows because this was within a mile away from me. The furnishings and stuff were a little softer than the other one, and they seemed to have a lot of activities. They also have physical therapy that people were hanging around and doing some hand therapy. The hall seemed crowded, but they did have benches and stuff in the hall. The staff was very knowledgeable. The dining area was more like a restaurant that had a carpeted area, and the chairs looked less cafeteria-like. It was a range off of a spoke with the dining area and the lobby and stuff in the middle, so I didn’t feel there would be so much walking for my mom. "
