The Best Memory Care Communities in Lancaster County, PA

"The rooms were super clean and once you walk in the building smells good and has no foul orders. The residents seem so happy and full of smiles and laughter. The staff was super friendly and helpful when I came in and I have no complaints with that department. I would move my family in this building in a heartbeat based on all I seen and witnessed with my own eyes. I got to talk to some of the residents and they all said how much they enjoy living there. Also, I saw some activities they have, and they are very engaged in them."

"I did quite a bit of research before we placed my parents in Victorian Villa. We were looking for a facility where my father and mother could be together. There are a lot of places that don't have the space for a couple. My mother looks 10 years younger since she moved there. They take such good care of their residents. She needs to be on a gluten-free diet and they would go way out of their way to accommodate her. They have family nights every now and then. My sister's been over there and she said the food is quite good. It's a small facility. There's only 40 people, so they can give a lot of individual attention. It's always clean, so neat, and there's plenty of staff. There's always someone there. You always see someone around in case they need help. My father has passed, but they went out of their way to meet his needs as well right up till the end. So we're very, very pleased and we feel blessed that we found such a nice facility for our parents. "

"My mother was initial living with Phoebe Berk - Independent Living for 8 years. We got someone there coming in and provide home healthcare for her in her apartment. We had tried for a while with an agency that had been recommended by the facility itself. We were trying to look for more options if there's a more cost effective way of doing it. But there it really wasn't a matter of cost anymore. The doctors and other healthcare providers thought that she already needed an assisted living so that's when we went to that direction. My mother has now transitioned to Phobe Berks Assisted Living. She is now in a studio room with a private bath. The food there is good but not that excellent. Their facilities both Independent and Assisted living are excellent. The staff there are very impressive. To my opinion, it's a first class type of operation they're running there. "

"We went to Senior Commons at Powder Mill. I liked the fact that they do a lot with their patients. The rooms were nice. They have all different kinds of activities. They have a dining area where they can go and play games. Each night there's something different that they do. They told me a lot about them. The person who showed me around was very nice. She's nice in the way she explained things and went into detail. The facility looked fine to me."

"Autumn House West was a little closer to town. It was nice and the staff were very helpful and very friendly. They have various types of rooms, depending on what you're looking for, and the residents seemed happy. They have a beauty salon, a community room with games and a TV, and a separate kitchen area for the residents to use."

"I toured Harmony at Hershey. They let us try some of the food, and the food was excellent. What I like the least about them was their location even though it's a very lovely location. We were looking for something between us and the V.A. facility in Lebanon, and this facility is a little out of the way. The dining area was beautiful, there are 4 to a table, it had tablecloths, and it was just a delightful facility. The staff that we met were very pleasant. They showed us a single-resident room, it was pretty straightforward with a window at the end. They do exercise, they had a library and things like arts and crafts."

"My two parents moved into The Heritage just before the pandemic. They are very happy there and we enjoy visiting them. The restaurant staff that they hire are always friendly and attentive. The management treats the residents as part of a team. The other patrons are almost always happy which makes the atmosphere positively upbeat. "

"Manor at Market Square is very well-run, clean, and has nice facilities. The staff was very nice, responsible, and caring. The activities were presented although I didn't see anything going on at the time. But they look as good as anywhere else. They have a library, crafts room, but not much outside."

"I visited and toured. It was very nice. The staff was very wonderful, very pleasurable, and accommodating. They had pretty much everything, like playing Wii on the TV when we were there, bingo, and cards. They had a little gift shop. They served breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and I believe they provided bus service to doctors' appointments upon request. "

"We went for a visit, and the place and rooms were very good. It’s small but OK. I worked with a lady named Danielle who was excellent. We went for lunch, and it was a very good lunch. They have a lot of things going on. Their location is very easy to get to and close to things but still off by itself. "

"My mom and I toured Freedom Village at Brandywine. We saw their independent living. We also had another tour with my wife after that. It seemed like a very well-kept facility, and everything was very clean. It's a fairly large facility compared to the other one my mom toured. It has a nice arrangement and the living spaces there, the apartments, or condominiums are very nice in size. They're definitely a larger size compared to another facility we went to, so that was very nice. They all have this part in the main room that's surrounded by windows. It was very nice as well. I haven't eaten there, but I heard the food is very good. It seems like generally there's a lot of activities that they offer every day, too. I had a good impression personally. The first time we went was not too long after the COVID lockdown ended, so there was very limited activity still due to the COVID situation. The second time we went, we didn't see activities because it was right before dinnertime, and people were getting ready to go to dinner. I think dinner started at 4:45 there and we got there at four o'clock. The activity was mostly wound down for the day. We saw the gym. They have a very nice fitness center, a saltwater swimming pool, and a hot tub that looks very nice. They had a very nice auditorium; it has a top floor that's like a dance floor. I think they show movies there, but it's kind of a multi-use facility. They had a menu posted when we were there. It looked good. It was not to my taste, but I'm much younger than the people there. I think for people that age, it seemed like a good menu."

"We visited Magnolias of Lancaster, and we met with Heather. She was the head of our tour, and must be the manager or something. So, she talked with us first about the facility, and did a great job explaining everything, then took us around to see one of the rooms, and took us around to see everything that the facility has. It seemed like a very clean place. We have seen residents, and they seem like they were happy there. Other than that, we just like the cleanliness, and Heather was very nice taking us around. They have two different types of rooms. They have a single room, that was just your personal room yourself. It has a little single bed, and a dresser which comes with a couple of pieces of furniture. So, you don't have to worry about like bringing a bed, mattress, and all that. It has its private bathroom. They have shared rooms, but we were not able to see one of them. I'm thinking that they were all occupied. This shared room is the same as the single room, but they do share a bathroom, and it's broken off. The beds are the same size as the private room, so each person still has enough space for privacy. You're allowed to bring a TV if you want, they don't provide TVs in the rooms. Everything seemed to go pretty well. They were doing some activities when we were there. They are doing some music, and then some fun things for those residents. They were hitting the balloon back and forth to each other, and stuff like that. They discuss the food and everything. They have it all figured out, and they provide three meals a day, snacks, and stuff like that."

"We chose Legend of Lancaster for my mom. The rooms looked like small apartments because they had a wall in the middle and were divided. They have a mini kitchen in there with a refrigerator. The door doesn't look like the normal door of a nursing home. It looks like a house door. The inside was square, so you could do laps around the place when it was raining. They have a nice center part with a fountain, flowers, and a screened-in porch on the outside. It was very nice. They have bingo, a library where you can read their books, a movie theater, and a mini church. The staff members were nice and very helpful."
