The Best Memory Care Communities in Lancaster County, PA

"Autumn House East is a nice location, it's more in the suburbs. It's a very nice setup and a very laid back and quiet community. I saw one of the halls where they're playing bingo. The staff, Mike, showed me the building as far as where assisted living will be at and where independent living is located. I saw the cafeteria. They also deliver to your room so you can eat inside your room for breakfast, lunch and dinner, which is better. And he went in detail as far as the things that the home has to offer like shopping and doctors help and assistance. And then they finalized that by showing me the room. The room was very large, had a kitchen and it, had its own bathroom and everything was very nice. The staff is very good. It's very well kept and everything is clean, there are no issues at all. As soon as you walk in the door, you see people in the hall playing bingo. They had a patio in the front that was very popular, and they had a location in the back where you can sit along the sidewalk. The independent living room that he showed me was very well kept up, the rug was replaced with square rugs. And they explained why they did it, that if something gets messed up, they can easily pull that up and put a new one down. The walls were painted, the kitchen was cleaned, everything was well kept."

"I did quite a bit of research before we placed my parents in Victorian Villa. We were looking for a facility where my father and mother could be together. There are a lot of places that don't have the space for a couple. My mother looks 10 years younger since she moved there. They take such good care of their residents. She needs to be on a gluten-free diet and they would go way out of their way to accommodate her. They have family nights every now and then. My sister's been over there and she said the food is quite good. It's a small facility. There's only 40 people, so they can give a lot of individual attention. It's always clean, so neat, and there's plenty of staff. There's always someone there. You always see someone around in case they need help. My father has passed, but they went out of their way to meet his needs as well right up till the end. So we're very, very pleased and we feel blessed that we found such a nice facility for our parents. "

"My mother was initial living with Phoebe Berk - Independent Living for 8 years. We got someone there coming in and provide home healthcare for her in her apartment. We had tried for a while with an agency that had been recommended by the facility itself. We were trying to look for more options if there's a more cost effective way of doing it. But there it really wasn't a matter of cost anymore. The doctors and other healthcare providers thought that she already needed an assisted living so that's when we went to that direction. My mother has now transitioned to Phobe Berks Assisted Living. She is now in a studio room with a private bath. The food there is good but not that excellent. Their facilities both Independent and Assisted living are excellent. The staff there are very impressive. To my opinion, it's a first class type of operation they're running there. "

"We went with Autumn House West. My mother moved in end of May. We are very pleased with our overall experience. The staff is very caring and they have taken very good care of my mom. The room is a basic room, nothing spectacular but it is functional. Since it's COVID, meals are delivered to their rooms and the meals are good. They do not have any activities yet but they are hoping to resume. It is close to where she lives and is reasonably priced. Plus the staff is great."

"I visited Harmony at Hershey. It is a beautiful, beautiful community. It's brand new. They had it designed so that it would look more like a hotel than a long-term care facility. The residents were all very engaged and very happy. It was Chinese New Year, so they were doing a themed dinner. The rooms were gorgeous. This was the most expensive of the ones I visited. The food smelled wonderful while I was there. They have a nice movie theater. The dining room was gorgeous. They had a pub where they had happy hour. They had a nice fitness center and a library. They have a beauty salon. Everybody was very happy. The staff all seemed to be very positive and very personable. I was impressed with what they were doing with them in the memory care section. It's extremely clean. "

"Not enough time in a day. Recently we invited thirty for a day time activity. The event was a week away. Eighty percent of the people had conflicts and could not come. The other activities ranged from outside the building volunteering to card or board games that were plannedperiod"

"My father-in-law has moved in. Right now, it seems OK. It's very comfortable for him right now. There are plenty of activities. He has played cornhole and bingo. They have dancing. He is pretty busy. He has only been there probably for one week now."

"We visited Magnolias of Lancaster, and we met with Heather. She was the head of our tour, and must be the manager or something. So, she talked with us first about the facility, and did a great job explaining everything, then took us around to see one of the rooms, and took us around to see everything that the facility has. It seemed like a very clean place. We have seen residents, and they seem like they were happy there. Other than that, we just like the cleanliness, and Heather was very nice taking us around. They have two different types of rooms. They have a single room, that was just your personal room yourself. It has a little single bed, and a dresser which comes with a couple of pieces of furniture. So, you don't have to worry about like bringing a bed, mattress, and all that. It has its private bathroom. They have shared rooms, but we were not able to see one of them. I'm thinking that they were all occupied. This shared room is the same as the single room, but they do share a bathroom, and it's broken off. The beds are the same size as the private room, so each person still has enough space for privacy. You're allowed to bring a TV if you want, they don't provide TVs in the rooms. Everything seemed to go pretty well. They were doing some activities when we were there. They are doing some music, and then some fun things for those residents. They were hitting the balloon back and forth to each other, and stuff like that. They discuss the food and everything. They have it all figured out, and they provide three meals a day, snacks, and stuff like that."

"My dad was a resident of Country Meadow Lancaster for almost 3 years and the care he received was excellent. "

"We liked Legend of Lancaster. They are very wonderful just like the other place we visited; they didn't not do anything wrong. They have really good staff. The person who gave me the tour was great and she gave my boyfriend something like cake to eat. I have been dealing with breast cancer, and she brought me a breast cancer survivor cup. She actually brought it over to the house. I was impressed with how kind they are. It is a relief for me that the people with my dad are this kind."

"We visited the assisted living facility of Legend of Lititz for my sister. The big negative for her is that she isn't even able to pick up a vacuum cleaner, and in the apartment, there is nothing to wash her clothing and such. She would have to walk the whole way down to the other end of the community, and that was a turn-off for her. She needs a washer and dryer in her room. Other than that, the community was very nice, and the woman with whom we worked was very helpful. Everything was clean and nicely laid out. The only problem was that it did not have a washer and dryer. Otherwise, my sister would have liked it. The smaller room that we saw would have been inadequate since it was too small. The other one was livable for her. The dining area was also reasonably close to where that room was, so it would have been adequate for her. They also had a nice outside area where you could have a cookout."

"We saw a couple of different model apartments at Willow Valley Communities. It is a large community. There are 2200 people there. There are a lot of facilities like swimming pools, gyms, bike paths, dog parks and all of that. We sampled the food and they did a pretty nice job. The upkeep was tremendous. I've been to that community a couple of times and each time it amazes me how well it's kept. The meals we had were very complete. You get a monthly meal allowance and the price of the food is fairly reasonable. The staff was very friendly, very nice, and very helpful in answering questions. The people who live there were very helpful in answering questions, too. It was by far the nicest community that I've seen."

"Garden Spot Village looked top-notch. We had lunch there. It was very nice and very updated. It was impressive. It was like a nice restaurant. I saw their gym, their walk-in sit down restaurant, and their Starbucks. I was only there for maybe an hour and a half. The overall experience was very pleasant, and we ended up buying a house there."
