The Best Assisted Living Communities in Lebanon County, PA

"My Great-Uncle has been living at Oak Leaf Manor (Landisville) for about a year. I have visited him at least twice a week since he has been there, so I am very familiar with Oak Leaf. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and well maintained. There is plenty of outside seating including two gazebo's. There is also an outside picnic area and nice walkways for the residents. The interior is wonderfully decorated for whatever season it happens to be. There is also a water fountain inside that is quite nice so sit around and relax. The dining room is nicely laid out and the food is good. The residents rooms are spacious and clean. The staff at Oak Leaf Manor is very friendly and caring. If any problems arise, the staff do their best to accommodate you as quickly as possible. There are a lot of activities for the residents, including BINGO, a theater room, scenic bus rides, crafts, and veterans activities. Overall Oak Leaf Manor has a very comfortable friendly atmosphere. If you are looking for a home for a loved one who can no longer live alone, I highly recommend Oak Leaf Manor. "

"Oak Hill Village felt like an old age home. The room was nice, but the amount of money that they wanted down was completely ridiculous to us (putting $95,000 down plus $1600 a month for a one-bedroom), when I've got a house at $1400 per month and that's five bedrooms. I have nothing against the people there, but as you drove up, there was a line of wheelchairs sitting outside. Even though my wife is currently in a wheelchair, I didn't like the way it came across to you. Everything was there, but there was something about it that didn't feel right. They told us, "We can bring it down from $21,000 to $16,000," but you have to put $95,000 down and after four years, you don't get any of it back. That was kind of a shocker. Their cleanliness and appearance would've been a 5. It was just the general feeling as you drove up to it. Also, we're going from a five-bedroom, three-story house to a one-bedroom apartment and it's gonna cost me more than what I've got now. The staff was excellent and for what they had available, they did very well. We need to downsize, but that was downsizing to an absolute minimum and still costing us more than what we have."

"We went to Paramount Senior Living at Lancaster County. Size-wise, they have about 60 people, so the size was manageable. It's all on one floor, so it met a lot of the criteria we were looking for. They have a living area with room for a couple of chairs or a loveseat, a little dinette, a refrigerator, telephone hookups, and cable hookups. The staff, Cindy, was very knowledgeable and did a great job."

"It was a very nice facility, but it was too far away. The apartments were much smaller, and look like a 1-bedroom. The staff member was very pleasant, answered any questions we had, and was very helpful. The amenities are good."

"My mother is happy at Oak Leaf Manor South. It's a small facility and they're very good with her. The facility looked very nice, her room is very nice, and none of the rooms are that far from the dining area, so it was easy for everyone to get to. It's a small facility, so a lot of care is taken. The staff is extremely friendly and very helpful, since it's a small facility, they know all of the patients. I haven't tried the food but my mom said it's wonderful. They cook their food, it's not like processed food. They get a menu so there's more than one option available for any given meal. They also have a memory section in another wing of the facility. They have several activities each day, there's always something to be done. They have musicians come in. There's bingo, aerobics, and physical activities that you can attend in the morning, though you're not required to go to them."

"My mother is in Columbia Cottage, and it is very nice. She is very happy. Everyone is wonderful. The food is very good. They have bingo and exercises. "

"My mom is a redident in this facility, and I would highly recommend it to anyone in search of a very caring staff,and administrators, beautiful world charm atmosphere, and lovely place for their retirement yrs. I could not have chosen a better home for her if I searched everywhere! Whoever is commenting on smells needs to get their senses tested! "

"Autumn House East is a convenient location for us. The director, Michael, was just really accommodating. He pretty much said that any hobbies or activities that my grandmother wants to do, he would try to make them happen. The guy that gave us the tour was really great. He pretty much did anything he could to make my grandmother feel comfortable. He also spoke to her, not to me, which I thought was really awesome. They let us have lunch, and that was really nice. She really enjoyed the food. He told me that they have field trips going on weekly, as well as arts and crafts, bingo, and food themed days. They have a cat that lives there too. Even when we were there at 7 o'clock, people were still sitting in the common areas, hanging out and talking. The place was really nice and clean."

"We've lived at the Heritage for 2-1/2 years. We have a 2 bedroom with den on the top floor with a wonderful view. The staff and residents are extremely friendly. I am on several committees and several activities (water volley ball, brain/body building/movies, woodshop, and exercise. The food is outstanding and we have an indoor pool, exercise room, art studio, gym, and other outdoor activities. If you are walking down the hall and someone doesn't say hello, they don't live here. Very happy we moved here."

"My mom and stepfather moved into Harmony at West Shore. My mom is in memory care. It's wonderful as far as memory care goes, it's very nice. The staff is what makes it wonderful. They're very friendly; outgoing. They watch closely to make sure that there aren't any issues. The place is very, very clean, and the food is wonderful. My sister has eaten there several times and I've seen the food. It looks delicious and everybody's inhaling it like it must be good. She's looking forward to this weekend. They have a garden where the memory care is actually allowed to go outside. It is a fenced-in area with bird feeders and benches. They have an above-ground area like waist length flower gardens where they can plant flowers. And so, this coming Sunday, we're going to be there with Mom planting some flowers. They have some activities like that. It's just fun and there's puzzles and games, they have a live-in rabbit that stays there, they have pets that come and go. On the day after my stepfather died, they brought two different therapy dogs into my mom 'cause she loves dogs. They also take care of their hair, not only to to schedule for the beauty salon, but they have volunteers that will come in and help, so they're very good."

"Spang Crest was a very nice facility and the folks were really good there. They took my friend in on a short notice and they were just terrific. I was there checking her in and the social worker was there and the head of the facility. They immediately made you feel welcome. The food was good, and she had a lot of medications that they handled well. So, it was a very good experience. It seemed like a very nice and lively facility. They had contests going on. They had activity sheets. Almost all the people ate in their dining area and I thought the value for the money was good."

"I toured Poplar Terrace. I liked that it was pet-friendly. The staff seemed alright. The building was good, and I would be responsible for keeping where I'm placed clean. The rooms could be bigger. It was sterile when I stepped in."
