"I visited Juniper Village at Lebanon. The staff there was very good, thorough in showing me everything, and very friendly without being too pushy. The rooms and apartments were very nice and spacious. I didn't eat there, but the menu looked very good. We saw the dining area, and it was very clean and nice looking. They had some arts and crafts activities going on during my visit as well as quite a few activities, too. "

"My brother likes to walk, but at Autumn House East, there were so many corridors. Also, the traffic outside on Market Street was just a mess, and I would not trust him walking out there or crossing the street to get anywhere. With the heavy traffic, he would be splat. The place was beautiful. It was kept up very well. It was more involved with the senior center type furniture, and the people were nice. We really enjoyed visiting there. They even gave my brother ice cream and peaches. It was a nice place to visit. The staff who gave the tour was very good. I didn't see the food, but the menu looked good. The cafeteria where they go and sit at tables was nice. There were a couple of them around at different places. However, the community has a lot of halls. It covers a whole block. They have activities for them to do. They're still in the process of fixing the back for them to be able to sit outside in the yard. They have games, bingo, and stuff like that. They were working on puzzles while we were there. Most of them were sitting around and talking."

"My mom is in Tradition of Hershey. I like that it is clean, and it has a convenient location. She has been there for 6 years now. She is in a shared room, but she has options. I will recommend it for independent care because they have a lot of activities, and the staff is pleasant. "

"Phoebe Berks Village was very nice, very neat, and very clean. Beautiful buildings, beautiful surroundings, everybody was very nice and very friendly, and everybody seemed happy. We saw a room and an apartment, and we also saw skilled nursing. They had a beautiful chapel and a pool for hydrotherapy. Their suite had a sitting area, a little kitchenette with a mini refrigerator, a nice big bedroom and you could have a twin bed in it, a nice bathroom, lots of closet space, a nice walk-in closet, and a smaller closet near the entrance. From the first time that I called there, the reception was the best. They were very nice. They have a catering company that does their food, but I didn't get excited about their menu."

"The rooms nice size. I would prefer a carpet more like indoor/outdoor. It does not hold the urine smell like the pyle carpet does. My husband’s mattress is not quite he has ben use to. The staff has been very helpful and pleasant. They all are very helpful with helping me to get him to stand or sit. They all seem to like music and the exercise classes they hold. I do have an issue with laundry losing items so I take my husband’s home which can be a hassel."

"Oak Hill Village is the one closest to my budget. It's a good facility and economical, and it has a good program. I would be happy there, but I'm not ready for it now. They took me to several apartments to look at and gave me the application and information on the facility. I had that contact person to call when I'm ready, and she calls like once or twice a year just to see how I am. The apartments were good, clean, and ready to see. They were empty apartments. The staff was friendly and always available to answer questions. She did a great job. The staff, from the receptionist to the person who was giving me the tour, was friendly."

"I toured Harmony At Hershey. It was too big. The halls are so long. It's like the dining room was at one end, and the other end was the apartment. The views they gave in the rooms, we were on the third floor, were like Hershey Park and all that area over there, but it was really at a distance. So, you couldn't see that much, but the traffic when something is going on there would be terrible because Route 39 is the main route into Hershey, and when there's a camp concert in Hershey, the traffic is always backed up, but the apartment that they showed was nice. They have a stove, an oven, a refrigerator, and a microwave. They have nice wooden cabinets and stuff for your dishes. The person who took me around was good and explained things, but I would not be too happy with the building itself, even though it was new."

"The Heritage of Green Hills was so active. It was Halloween and they were having a Halloween party. They were really busy. It's a busy place. But you have to buy into that, and I didn't want to do that. It was nice though. The rooms were very clean and very neat. The size of the room was perfect. They had a buffet for dining, but I don't know if it's always a buffet. They have a huge indoor pool and a beauty salon. They have everything there, and the place is huge."

"Our tour was very nice at Manor at Market Square. Everything seemed fine, and there was nothing that I disliked. The staff who assisted us was very friendly. Their cleanliness was very nice; it was very clean. There were a lot of open spaces and a lot of nice windows, and the rooms were large. The dining area was very large, too. The tables were nicely spread out. It was very bright and sunny. The atmosphere was very nice. We were greeted very quickly, and everybody was very friendly."

"I'm on a priority list at Freedom Village at Brandywine and I really did like it very, very much. The endowment was not quite as expensive as others. I liked the layout of the apartments. They had some individual places that were more like townhouses with the garage underneath and an elevator up to your apartment. They were separate from the main building. I like the independence of it, but still having the ability to use all the amenities. I also liked the fact that there were fireplaces in their apartments. What I was interested in was their separate terrace homes. My son and I did have lunch when we visited. Their dining room was lovely and the food was excellent. It was the best of variety. You have to order from the menu and it was very nice, everything from salad to steak. The only objection I have at this point was that it's a little farther away from where my son lives than I would like it to be. "

"I like the facilities at Woodcrest Villa. Everything is right there. The hospital is right across the street. It is also very new. The staff was very informative. They answered all our questions and they showed us homes. The home is 1,500 square feet, which is what we are looking for. They have games, a library, a movie theater, an area for riding a bike around the development, and a swimming pool that is open all year round. I'm really interested in this place."

"My wife is at The Long Community. I visit there about once a year, and it’s a nice place. Their apartments are really big. It's a new facility, just about three or four years old. The food is good. They have physical fitness activities twice a week, and they have buses that take them on tours, and they go visit different places. The people are friendly there, and they are all about the same age. Overall, it's a nice place, but the design of the apartment isn’t the best. I don’t know if they can change it, but if I were to design an apartment, I wouldn’t design it the way it is. For example, the shower is too big, and it doesn’t have any handrails, and for older people that is very important. "

"My tour of the Traditions of America East Petersburg was very pleasant. The staff members were very friendly and knowledgeable and answered all our questions, and the facilities were very nice. We looked at separate houses and we felt that they were very good-looking houses and we felt that the pricing was fine. But we felt that once you added up the base price, the premiums, and the necessary upgrades that you would want, then the price was too high. We would need to get at least a small mortgage in addition to selling our current home to purchase the house that we like here, which was a 3-bedroom separate home. They had a nice clubhouse with a nice gym, pool, meeting room, etcetera. The amenities were fine. The staff who gave the tour was knowledgeable, answered all of our questions, and gave us enough time to tour the facilities adequately. Everything was good except for the cost."

"NovaCare is right next to our church, and the church is the one that founded it for the church members, but the church members can't get in now. Everyone is out from outside, and you have to wait in line for three or four years before you can get in. My aunt went there, and I'm aware of the facility. I've taken a couple of tours there. Our problem is we need it now, and we can't wait three or four years before we can get in. They have all kinds of activities. They have a pool, for one thing, and they have activity centers and exercise rooms. They take them on trips. One of my good buddies is the director of activities there. He's from our church, and he's been there for some time. They have a little putting green out there for some of the guys who want to putt, and they have their own little bus. They take them to the store, and they'll take them to their doctor's appointments. Everything is a plus. The apartments varied in size, and they have the cottages also. It has a great location, and the facilities are up to date. Everything is very, very neat. It's outstanding. "

"I had a meal at Lancashire Terrace Retirement, and my wife was there with me before she broke her leg. Very nice director, really good chef, and a nice dining area. I like the fact that it's a small, closely knit community. They seemed to know each other. They have little sun rooms, and the arrangement of the cottages is very nice. I like the location in Lancaster, since we're both Lancastrians, and our daughter's family is here to back it up. We're close to Lancashire, and it has the facilities for rehab, and if anything is needed as far as nursing is concerned, they're right next door. They have like a play, music theater, an opera house, sound, and light. Some people come here and will spend days going to each of the big shows that we have. They have a game room and a nice library. Most of the rooms have a living room area, a bedroom, maybe a den. Closet space is a problem. It's not a very big place, but it's very nice. "

"I chose Providence Place Senior Living of Lancaster for my sister. There isn't anything that I don't like about it. It's clean and professional. They treat everyone with respect. They're knowledgeable, and their care is just phenomenal. I just like everything about it. The staff is very pleasant. Their communication is good. It's just overall great to be there, that's why we chose it. With regards to food, we talked to several of the people who live there currently, and they rated it highly, so it seemed like they were okay with it. The structure was great. It's right in the center of everything. A PT was right there. The salon, the lounge, and the dining room and everything were spotless. I felt at home right away, and there were daily activities. When you walk in, everyone is very sociable. It's a light atmosphere, and everyone is very welcoming. The room is just perfect for my sister. The size is perfect for her. It wasn't too big, it wasn't too small, but it was very homey."

"Landis Homes provides such a welcoming atmosphere. Very clean and pleasant. You do not feel as though you are walking into an "old folks home." The staff truly cares about each and every resident. The focus at the facility is "person centered care." Each resident is truly treated as an individual. There are many activities for the residents. There is a daycare on site and the residents may interact with the little ones if they wish. There is a fitness trail and plot of land that residents may plant a garden if they wish. They are currently expanding their facility. The facility does have a focus on the Mennonite religion but people of all faiths live at Landis Homes. The food at Landis Homes is pretty good. Overall I would highly recommend Landis Homes. I would chose them as a provider for myself or a loved one "
