"After 4 months of in-home care for our Mom, we decided to look at some assisted living facilities in our area. Although very nice, the ones we visited seemed a little overwhelming to Mom. A friend told us about a newly renovated facility in Arden that had just re-opened. We decided to check it out. Thus began our love affair with Ivy Gables, a beautifully appointed 24 room senior living facility nestled in the community of Ardentown which just happens to be 5 minutes from our home. We particularly liked that it was a small facility, knowing that it would be more comforting to Mom. Of course, what’s a beautiful facility without warm and friendly people to bring it to life!! The staff at Ivy Gables outshines all of its beautiful appointments! They are top notch, professional folks who welcomed us and have went the extra mile to make our Mom (and us) feel at home! Knowing that our Mom is safe and in the hands of such kind and loving folks, has given us such peace of mind!” "

"Ivy Creek Gracious Retirement is a fairly new place. It's nice and clean. The staff who gave the tour was very sweet. I was the only one who was on the tour. She took me to every place in the building in spite of the fact that she had a bad leg. I met a couple there, and they were very positive. It seemed like a nice place."

"St. Martha Villa was very nice and the tour experience was also very nice. The place felt homey, and they're making improvements all the time. The rooms were generally adequate and were a good size. I saw the studio and a very nice 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom. The staff who gave the tour was very accommodating and wonderful. The dining area looks nice but we did not eat any food."

"From my observation, I liked everything I saw in Victoria Park At North East. I didn't see anything that I wasn't pleased with. The apartments were spacious. They had everything that I would need. They were bright and very clean. The carpets were clean. For a single person living alone, it fits my needs. The staff were very nice. They have laundry facilities, mail facilities, an exercise room, and a library. They have a computer set-up and Wi-Fi service. I was pleased with the place. They have a new person in charge, and she was more than accommodating. She made an appointment with us. We sat, we talked, and we could ask questions. She was very accommodating. It was very clean with no foul odors."

"We're leaning towards Millcroft Living. From the ones we looked at so far, that was the best one. The feel of the place and the staff we talked to was better than in other places. The residents seemed to be in good spirits, and that's one of the main things. Also, the layout was just a little more homey-feeling. The staff who gave me the tour was very good. She was very personable, and she gave us a good tour. It's a fairly extensive tour; we got to see quite a bit. The rooms were clean, and the closets were big. They're fairly large; they're fairly good size rooms. The closets were big, and the bathroom was nice. They have happy hour, they have a movie night, and they have a shuttle bus where they go out and do things once in a while. There was a couple of bridge tables going. The surroundings were a very pleasant area; it's kind of a little bit more in the country."

"Marydale Retirement Village seemed very welcoming. From what I saw, they appear to help the people in there a lot. They even have a food bank in there. The staff was excellent, very welcoming, and very helpful. There is a person who has been working with me for the last three weeks. She is trying to get me in there. I haven't had a tour inside the rooms, but they look small from the outside. They have wi-fi. They have a washer and dryer in each unit, so that's a good thing."

"The pricing at Ryan Homes at Big Elk 55+ was better than the other places we toured, but their location was too remote for us. The staff who gave the tour was very nice and very thorough. They had a pool, meeting rooms, and a gym that was smaller than the other places. We were interested in their separate 3-bedroom homes."

"Springmill Community is an excellent community. We have a clubhouse, a swimming pool, Shuffleboard games, tennis, and Pickleball. It's very inexpensive to live here. The monthly fee is $150, which includes mowing, taking care of your lawns, and snow removal. We have activities like making dolls and giving them to the hospitals, a card room, a pool room, trips that you can take outside, and people that would come in for entertainment (we just had a quartet of singers recently). It's a very friendly community. We have people from New York, New Jersey, and even from Pennsylvania. On the street where I live, they're all super wonderful people. No one bothers anyone unless you want to be bothered. No one's at your door every morning having coffee. They'll come down on you if your house needs to be power washed or your curtains aren't all white on the outside. They're very strict, which I like, because it keeps the community beautiful. The only drawback is our clubhouse holds only 100 people and in this community, there are like 330 houses or somewhere in there."

"I had a tour here. I didn't like the layout of the rooms. They don't have bedroom doors. I played bingo and had snacks with them. I enjoyed myself. It was very clean. The people were very friendly. The rooms were very nice, but they didn't have a kitchen. The staff was great. The residents were active, pretty much."

"My father has moved into Madeline Care Center. It's been a pretty good experience so far. His room was completely flipped. He had fresh paint and brand new laminated flooring, so it's very nice. He's in rest residential, which is assisted living in Delaware. They do not have very many activities, but I was told that an activity director was hired last week. There's not many choices per meal, but he likes the breakfast. The soup I had was good. The facility is like an old home almost, so they're renovating part of it. It's outdated, but the rooms are humongous, and I was very impressed with that. They have a library, and the dining room is very nice and has linen tablecloths. The staff is very friendly. Anytime I've asked for something to be done or changed, they jump right on it, and they do their best to accommodate us."
