"Ivy Gables Senior Living did not have an availability in memory care. They kind of had a hybrid program in between assisted living and memory care, but they felt my dad needed a little more care than what they provided in that hybrid situation. However, if we were able to put him there, it would have been wonderful. They were professional, friendly, and informative. The facility was roomy. There's lots of areas for the residents to be able to go and move around. The room was sufficiently sized and clean. They had structured activities. It was perfect."

"I toured Juniper Village at Newark. I liked the rooms because they were nice, big, and spacious, and they allowed dogs. The bathroom was handicapped-accessible, so it was very big, and I wouldn't have to climb over a tub. The staff was friendly and nice. You can get the main dish they're serving, or you have a list of alternates, which I liked, but I had the main dish, shrimp, which was very good. The facility was very clean. I would change a couple of things, but I know that's a problem everywhere, so I'm not worrying about that. I like the size of the rooms. I could get a bedroom that fit my queen-sized bed with two dressers and a chair without a problem. In the living room, you could have a chair, a sofa and a TV stand. They have a lot of closet space, which some of the others didn't have."

"My sister is a resident of Friends Home in Kennett. I like that she's so happy there. Everybody's very nice. She enjoys music and they have a lot of nice music programs and they encourage the people there to participate in the choir, which she enjoys. She has just a room with a bathroom. It's much more affordable than some of these places. I don't know what she does all day long, but right now she's out for rehab and she can't wait to get back. They play games, they take them on bus trips to different places, they have people come in to entertain them, and the fellow there that's in charge of the music is a wonderful singer and a piano player. They have a gathering room in the basement, a parlor, and a library. I'm very pleased with them. Everybody I've met has been very nice. She seems pretty pleased with the food. It's a very old building, but they've done a lot. They're working on it to fix it up. They keep it clean. It's right in the middle of town, so when a parade goes by, they get to sit on the porch and see it. Just different activities and schools come over and visit. They seem to be always busy doing something. Value for money is very good."

"Harmony at Glasgow had no laundry and no full kitchen inside the apartments. The staff was friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable. I saw the menu. The facilities were very clean, well-organized, bright, and cheerful."

"The Ivy Creek Gracious Retirement in Glen Mills was excellent. The staff was excellent, too. I even got to meet the people who were serving food. I actually ate a meal there. You could have fruit salad or veggie salad. After the salad meal, they removed that and asked for your choice of entrees. They have Reuben's sandwiches and vegetable lasagna that was served with grilled zucchini and squash. They also sent me home with a goody bag with freshly-made oatmeal raisin cookies. They took me on a tour, and I saw 3 different studio apartments. The two of them have balconies, one without, and each floor is appointed with some type of facilities for the independent living and assisted living sections. They have a library, a puzzle room, a card room, and a movie theater that seats about 30 people. Normally, there are movies every night, depending on the theme. They had Elvis Presley week last week, so Love Me Tender was on that day. They have lots of different activities. They have a calendar that they print out every month, with lots to do."

"My wife and I will be moving into Chestnut Ridge. It's beautiful, and it's less rent for more stuff. They have all kinds of programs there. The facility is in tree-lined suburban Chester, it's very quiet, with no loud music, no race, and nothing down the street. It's not far from the mall and within reach of financial institutions and food supermarkets, and they have a bakery. All week long, every day they have a program for senior citizens. They give you a copy of what will be going on every day, seven days a week. They have activities, a bistro, and parking for anyone that has a vehicle. They have art classes, and drawing and coloring contests. They have programs for people that don't have cars where they can get paratransit to take them shopping, and to doctors. They have brain enhancement to help your memory. It's just totally beautiful, and I see why it's a hidden gem in Chester. We will have an apartment; the design and floor plans are beautiful."

"I can't think of anything that I don't like about Meadowcrest at Middletown. My father has been there for about a week now, and so far, everything has been positive. I like that even though it's an independent care facility, there is some light monitoring to ensure the safety of my father while he's there and I think that's nice. I also like that they have plenty of amenities that he has access to, such as a game room, a gym, and a media room. They have a lot of facilities that I think he'll be able to take advantage of. I also like their restaurants. So far, the food from what I could tell seems to be pretty good and the service seems to be excellent. It's a very clean place. So far, the service and the staffing are pretty good. For activities, they had good Veterans Day activities this past weekend."

"I visited the independent living community of Merrill Gardens at West Chester. The people were wonderful. The tour guide was absolutely fabulous. She clearly knew every resident that we passed. She knew them by name and was able to say hi to them. The residents that I met were also very nice. I will go back there again for a happy hour. They are all really excellent. They are a smaller facility, and you can tell the vibration there is very different. I liked the staff members that I met, and I enjoyed talking with the residents. The rooms are very nice, very clean, and they offer more than the other facility I have also visited. While that place gives you a meal a day, this place has their casual restaurant open all day. The only thing I found that I wasn't crazy about was their dinner times, but they're working to try and extend their hours. Their dinner, I believe, is from 4:30 until 6:30, and that's way too early for me. I wasn't able to eat any, but looking at the menus, the food looked very good."

"I went to St. Martha Villa. Everything was good. They had single and double rooms. You can bring your own television. There wasn't much where you could get an oven or anything like that, so it was very suitable for elderly people. The staff who gave the tour was very pleasant. They would even take the patients out to markets and stuff. They have a shuttle service where they can go to Giant Market or to other convenience stores."

"My mom moved into Tylers Mill Senior Living. I like it because it's more of a smaller type of facility with a lot of continued interaction with the other residents. The care and services have been great. The staff members were friendly. They have planned activities to keep them involved and engaged."

"I liked everything about Fountain View at Logan Square. The location was fantastic. They have a parking garage. The rooms were a nice size. They had a washer and dryer in the room. The rent was a little expensive, but the facilities were nice and clean. The person who took us around was wonderful. He knew his business. A couple of the other people we met were very good. I liked Fountain View. The food looked very appetizing. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and they seemed to know the people that they passed in the hallway. They were friendly, and they knew about other facilities. They tell you, "You should try this one," or "Did you go there?" The atmosphere was very nice. Some of the residents I saw knew each other."

"Juniper Village is a beautiful place. It has a gym and has everything we need. The only thing I did not like about it was that there was no parking. My husband is in a wheelchair, and I had to park in like a strip mall that's in front of their building and push him to the building because there is no parking at all. It's very tight on the parking, and that's the only downside. They had all the amenities we needed. Their meals are like a restaurant. You can pick off a menu. It's like a big dining room. It's like going to a diner, and you order from a menu, and somebody comes to you. It's not a bunch of squares with two choices. We were there later in the afternoon. I think they're open from 11:00 to 2:00 for lunch, and I think they open again from 4:00 to 7:00 for dinner. They said that I could eat there with him, say if I wanted to come for lunch, which would be added to our bill at the end of the month. For him, it included three meals a day and snacks, but if he had guests come in they could still eat and sit at the table, order, and it would just be added to our bill. So, that's convenient. It is three stories high. It was very clean. All the staff that we passed in the hallways were very friendly."
