"We toured Gilpin Hall. It was a very good tour. My mother was very happy with visiting. She was very happy and expressed how she would like to be a resident there. The rooms were good. The facility was very well maintained and very clean, and everything was suitable to move my mother there as a resident. The staff was very good and knowledgeable, and took their time showing us around the facility, to the rooms, the dining area, and the game room. We didn't try the food, but the dining area was very clean and very well-kept."

"Hillside Center was very nice. I liked it very much. I would have taken my mom there. The facility was very clean, the rooms were very nice, spacious and adequate enough. They were very good with how they work with people in there. They have a lot of activities for them. They also had a nice library for reading and a nice library for movies. "

"The staff at the facility are extremely friendly people. The number of activities available to the residents of the center is innumerable from lounging in the rec-room to swimming in their indoor pool. The food is also excellent there and the residents are always happy, seemingly. Every year we go to visit at their christmas party that is held there, in the gymnasium. The event is catered very well and all the residents' families are able to visit and enjoy themselves with music, presents, and good food. The visiting hours are not restrictive at all, allowing family members to come and go as they please so long as they sign in. Every resident is also given a roommate and a private room, almost like a dorm, accompanied with televisions, telephones and almost anything else the residents could ask for. The staff is also ready to accomodate any need that the residents could ask for. The facilities are also kept remarkably clean. "

"My wife is in Regency Healthcare & Rehab Center right now. It’s not very good. The food is not that good. It’s a good location because it’s close to my house. It’s somewhat clean. "

"My brother is in Kentmere. It's favorable. It's not fancy. They are very courteous. They seem to take care of the patients. If he needed anything, they are there to take care of him and they are prompt in providing it. It's older, it's like 100 years old I think. It was a lot better than a couple I'd looked at. Physical therapy is through an insurance company. They seem to be doing their job, and there are a lot of people there. They've got good coverage. I saw them this morning doing activities. It's an Alzheimer's area, so they were batting a ball around, they have small tubes and throwing them on pegs, and easy things like that. My brother's there for physical therapy, and he goes down to the PT room where they are trying to get him to go from a wheelchair onto the toilet, standing up, and things like that. So they do have the facilities for P.T. and occupational therapy. I'm satisfied with them."

"The staff and atmosphere at Manor Care was very pleasant. The staff works very hard to help their patients recover and return to their normal lives as quickly and safely as possible. There is an attempt to provide entertainment and diversions for the patients/residents who are capable of such activities despite their illness or injury. The menu is definitely a step above what you would expect in such a facility. Despite all of this, there were a few negatives aspects. At one point during her stay, my Mother required a follow-up trip to the hospital. She was in wheelchair due to the broken leg. The facility would not provide transportation which made it very complicated. In addition, my mother has significant other health issues and is on a great deal of medication. The staff didn't seem to listen to her whenever my Mother tried to explain why she was on various medications and what the reasoning was for her dosages. The last problem was that when she was released on a Friday, she was sent home with a prescription for a painkiller that was impossible to find at any local pharmacy. We called the facility and was told to contact her doctor, that since she had been released, she was no longer under their care, even thought the prescription in question had been written by their staff. "

"We selected Parkview Nursing. My friend is there for long-term care. It is wonderful. The place is very clean and the staff is very friendly. They meet all my friend's needs. I have been very impressed so far. The food is fine. They have bingo, she gets rehabilitation three to five days a week (including weekends), they have a choir, and they have non-denominational church services. They do a good job."

"We chose Shady Lane because it is a nursing home and for the kind of care that my grandmother needed, that was a top priority for us. Also the location was within 5 miles from my home, so it ended up working out for us. My grandmother did well there. She did very well. It was close to her, so knowing that the staff there was local, she did know some people there. They were the staff who knew her from growing up, so it made it a lot easier for her. Overall, we couldn't have been happier with it. They do so many activities with them all the time, all day long. They make sure no matter they would pull her out of her room and say, "you're coming." They have a singer come in a couple of times a week. They take her down to the salon; they get her hair and nail done. They make it as comfortable and as homey as possible. It works out for my grandmother; they are really, really good. "

"My friend is at New Castle Health and Rehabilitation Center. The nurses are excellent there. They're so nice. They're excellent. She was in another one, and they couldn't compare to this one. When I first went there, it was kind of touch and go because my friend had been in other ones, and I thought, 'Here we go again.' However, it was very nice there. The people there are excellent. They take such good care of everyone. Usually, when you go into a place like this, a lot of times it'll smell like someone has a dirty diaper or something, but New Castle never has an odor in there. It's very clean. It is not modern as far as new things, but it is immaculate. The employees are excellent. They treat people like their own mother or father, that's how nice they are. They offer a lot of different activities. They give you a paper for the month telling you what's going on every day. They have bingo. You can get your hair done on Wednesday. They have manicures one day a week. It's so pleasant. The people who are working there make you feel like you're at home. They're very nice people. Food is delivered to their rooms. My friend eats it all, so I guess it's not too bad. However, they could give a little larger portion. They can get my friend a sandwich if she wants it. As for the upkeep, they keep the place very nice and clean, but it is an older building."

"My father has moved into Madeline Care Center. It's been a pretty good experience so far. His room was completely flipped. He had fresh paint and brand new laminated flooring, so it's very nice. He's in rest residential, which is assisted living in Delaware. They do not have very many activities, but I was told that an activity director was hired last week. There's not many choices per meal, but he likes the breakfast. The soup I had was good. The facility is like an old home almost, so they're renovating part of it. It's outdated, but the rooms are humongous, and I was very impressed with that. They have a library, and the dining room is very nice and has linen tablecloths. The staff is very friendly. Anytime I've asked for something to be done or changed, they jump right on it, and they do their best to accommodate us."

"My father was in the independent-living part of Stonegates. He's in their healthcare wing now, and the nursing staff is extremely attentive. If you're in the independent living, it's like living in a resort, and it's quite a nice place to live. Every Friday during the summer, they do barbecue for all the residents. They do field trips to the theater, movies, ice cream parlors, and weekly runs to the grocery store nearby. They have bocce ball, a putting green, tai-chi, bingo, sing-alongs, and they bring in musicians. It's fantastic; I wish I could live there now. "
