"I know somebody at South Jersey Extended Care. It's adequate, but it could be better. They keep it clean. My problem is the food is not good. The main thing I would be looking at in a place is their menu. It's hard to find some place that lives up to better nutrition. I think they need to be improving the food they serve their clients. The janitor was the most helpful and lovely person there. The staff was good, but they change all the time. They keep changing their staff except for the lady at the desk and the janitor. There's a constant turnover in the administration. Individually, they're great. The director of food services would very often like to improve what they can serve, but they're rather restricted. When they serve broccoli to these residents, they give them the broccoli stalks. They don't get the top of the broccoli, and for old people, you can't chew that, which means they're not eating their broccoli. That is being too cheap just serving broccoli stalks instead of broccoli with the heads on. He has a little refrigerator in his room, so I can take him fresh fruits and fresh solid things, which otherwise he wouldn't be getting. They play cards, but they can't get outside. They got a smoking area outside for the smokers, but the people who don't smoke, there's not a safe outside area for them to be in. They shouldn't be indoors all the time. It's all on one level, and it's an old place. I went there last month, but I don't get to go inside. I just give some things that he needs and wave through the door at him."

"My aunt is at Cumberland Manor. We chose this place because her primary care physician is actually the medical director, so that gave her some comfort going somewhere where she knew she would still see her own doctor. My experience with them has been excellent. They have been very good with her. They really are working with her. She has improved actually since she has been there. There are a lot more interactions. They make sure she is getting physical therapy. It has been very positive. What I like best about Cumberland, for us is that it is in a great location for our family because it is centrally located, and they are just so very friendly. It is very clean. It is just very exceptional. You don't walk and think you're in a nursing home, and that was important to us that the environment was a good healthy environment. "

"It is a fairly good environment. They have therapy for memory loss. They're a caring group. The staff is pretty good. The rooms are dated but they're comfortable enough. The location is good and very accessible."

"My mother is in ManorCare Health Services-Washington Township for rehab. So far, so good. The people working there are very nice. When she went in, she had COVID, and they told me she was coughing a lot while she was eating. She's on puréed food due to the coughing, and she's really not happy about that. I've been in there to drop off clothes, and I followed her to the doctor with the ambulance. I've only been in the waiting room and the reception area. The facilities outside are clean and well kept. The inside is very bright, the reception area is very bright and very clean, and they have a sidewalk in the entrance area. My mother said there are a lot of windows in her room."

"Friends Village is excellent. It's very very clean. The food is fixed daily and it's very good. I've eaten there several times with my mother. They have a very good reputation in our county. I knew of another lady who is living there now. We wanted the best for our mother. If you need to get a hold of a nurse, she comes right down. If something comes up and we want to ask questions, they answered all our questions. I'm very comfortable with them. There was a time when mom had to go to assisted living because she had health problems. She was there for 2 weeks. The care was absolutely perfect. They were there always. They're kind and gentle as you would want for your mother. "

"When you walked down the hallways of Innova Health, you could smell bowel movements. Maybe they’re short staffed. The food was unreal, and most of the people that could ordered out. The staff was a mixed of some really good and some nasty. "

"We chose Shady Lane because it is a nursing home and for the kind of care that my grandmother needed, that was a top priority for us. Also the location was within 5 miles from my home, so it ended up working out for us. My grandmother did well there. She did very well. It was close to her, so knowing that the staff there was local, she did know some people there. They were the staff who knew her from growing up, so it made it a lot easier for her. Overall, we couldn't have been happier with it. They do so many activities with them all the time, all day long. They make sure no matter they would pull her out of her room and say, "you're coming." They have a singer come in a couple of times a week. They take her down to the salon; they get her hair and nail done. They make it as comfortable and as homey as possible. It works out for my grandmother; they are really, really good. "

"My father is at Laurel Manor, and the care has been very good. He's fine with the food. His bed is always made when he's not in it, and his room is clean. They give therapy to him every day; sometimes he refuses, but they keep on trying. The staff is very caring, friendly, and knowledgeable. They always keep in touch with me with everything; any little thing that happens, they let me know. They have TV lounges and the dining hall becomes an activity hall. They have a nice patio that's all blocked in, so that they can't get out of it. They also had a nice front porch to sit out on. It's a small place."

"I was at Southgate twice for total hip replacements rehabilitation. I decided to go to Southgate for their exceptional therapy departments. The facility is clean and nicely decorated. The staff are very accommodating and friendly, most of all very professional. There were plenty of interesting activities. If I had two more hips, that is where I would go for therapy!"
