"We brought my mom to Genesis Milford Center. It's nice and neat inside. The people are really nice. They have a lot of things for the residents to do. "

"Broadmeadow was very good. They care about my mother. I went there initially because she had broken her ankle, and she needed rehab. Sanitation is very good. "

"My dad was at Cumberland Manor for two weeks. The staff was great and we had no complaints. They were very courteous and they try to accommodate our wishes. My dad already passed away. He just had more issues than we thought. He had kidney trouble, then liver, and then blood infection. But they treated him really well. The facility is located on a beautiful countryside and it's peaceful there, too. "

"I know somebody at South Jersey Extended Care. It's adequate, but it could be better. They keep it clean. My problem is the food is not good. The main thing I would be looking at in a place is their menu. It's hard to find some place that lives up to better nutrition. I think they need to be improving the food they serve their clients. The janitor was the most helpful and lovely person there. The staff was good, but they change all the time. They keep changing their staff except for the lady at the desk and the janitor. There's a constant turnover in the administration. Individually, they're great. The director of food services would very often like to improve what they can serve, but they're rather restricted. When they serve broccoli to these residents, they give them the broccoli stalks. They don't get the top of the broccoli, and for old people, you can't chew that, which means they're not eating their broccoli. That is being too cheap just serving broccoli stalks instead of broccoli with the heads on. He has a little refrigerator in his room, so I can take him fresh fruits and fresh solid things, which otherwise he wouldn't be getting. They play cards, but they can't get outside. They got a smoking area outside for the smokers, but the people who don't smoke, there's not a safe outside area for them to be in. They shouldn't be indoors all the time. It's all on one level, and it's an old place. I went there last month, but I don't get to go inside. I just give some things that he needs and wave through the door at him."

"Autumn Lake at Denton looks nice when you pull up. It's in a residential neighborhood. The staff members all seem to be very nice, and my mom seems to be relatively happy there. The food seems to be okay, like hospital food but it's not bad. Right now my mom is not getting much of any activity because she's in rehab there. She's still trying to walk and things like that, so she's not taking a full advantage of the actual facilities. I've seen the residents playing bingo once when I was there."

"During my visits here the location was always very understaffed but the staff there was very friendly and helpful. The residents were well taken care of and appreciated visits from animals such as cats, dogs, and even a horse! I'm not sure if this is healthy for everyone because some people have allergies but it certainly helps morale. Residents who could participate got to play games like bingo and received healthy snacks like bananas, apples, or crackers. The food was typical hospital type food but none of the residents seemed to mind and were very grateful for help from staff and volunteers. The rooms and facility in general appeared clean every time I visited. The front desk was only monitored some of the time so while people were supposed to be checked in and out this did not always happen. Which would make it possible for unwanted visitors to enter or residents to leave without anyone else aware. The dining area was one large table where all the residents joined together and had great conversation during meals and enjoyed each others company. "

"I visited this facility several times with my school to give holiday performances for the residents. The facility was very large, and seemed to be very luxurious and ornately decorated. There seemed to be a large, attentive staff, and all of the residents seemed to be in good spirits. The place really reminded me more of a mansion than an assisted living facility. I am sure the residents paid a fairly hefty sum to live in the facility, but from what I saw they definitely got what they paid for. Everything was very clean and well kept. There was evidence of several other school groups visiting the facility as well, so it seemed like the residents had a steady stream of visitors. I visited several other Assisted Living facilities in the area with my school group, and Heron Point was by far the most impressive. "

"This facility is the best in Chestertown. They gave my husband hope and a reason for living, the staff is most compassionate, caring and loving we have ever met, the food is the best. I always felt as if the nursing home. was our home, the laughter was so wonderful. Please give this place a chance, it is the very, very best. Unlike other places the nurs.ing staff listens to the patient and the family, they will go out of their to make your stay the best. Thank you to all, for giving my huband and I hope. "

"I would actually rate this a zero. The facility is not the cleanest. The front desk is rude. I did encounter some nice people, but not enough to compensate for the bad. Despite these "minor" issues that could be tolerated, this is why I would not put your loved one here. The nurse or tech came to my mom when she rang her bell at night. My mom needed to be changed and was having chest pain. The girl said "what do you want me to do about it, I'm not touching you - you have disease, why do you go to bathroom so much?" (I didn't know about this at that time because she was afraid to tell us thinking they'd be even more mean to her at night when we left) Then, a couple days later I went to see her at night ( I wasn't going to but something told me too) When I got there she said she had been telling them something was wrong with her feeding tube and her throat was burning and she was struggling. I immediately got the nurse after I realized her feeding tube was backing up into her throat and asked that they turn it off and helped her cough it up. At this point she had already started to aspirate on it. I asked that a doctor be called (to which at this time none were there on duty) and 911 was called. She is currently still in the hospital, still fighting. The hospital showed me her bottom side and that this should not have happened and the look on their faces was that of just dismay. I've heard stories about nursing homes but I really never thought it happened or would happen to us. I know each person has their own experience, but ours was not good. Very disappointed that there are people out there like this."

"My father was there for rehab after a hospital stay. The staff is very attentive to his care. Very good communication with our family. They have activities for them. You can tell they want the best for their patients."

"My mother has been at Corsica since Nov of 2016 and I can not say enough great things about the staff. She is in their Homestead Memory Care Unit and the nurses, aides, director and activity staff are amazing. They take such excellent care of mom and this gives me such peace of mind especially since I live in Delaware and I'm not as close as I would have liked. It is such a hard thing to put a loved one in a nursing home but if you need to, I would highly recommend Corsica Hills."
