"Juniper Village at Lebanon was very clean and very neat. The place was very organized and orderly. I was looking at a single room, and the size was just perfect for me. The lady I met was very helpful. She listened to what I had to say, answered all my questions, and was very honest in our conversation. She really took her time. While I was there, the residents were playing cards, drawing, and exercising."

"We have our name on a wait list at Chestnut Ridge at Rodale. We were welcomed. It was nice that we ran into people that we already knew. They have a lovely pool. One of the biggest positives about Chestnut Ridge is that everything is in one building. You don't have to go outside to eat or anything like that. There are many outdoor activities, like walking paths. You can walk into town on a nice path. They have gardens. We're not going to go into anything less than 1200 square feet, so they were all around 1400 square feet. It has an open concept, and nearly every room has a balcony. No problem with parking. If you want to be undercover, you'd have to pay extra for that. We did eat lunch there, and that was great. It's a fairly new facility. Compared to some of the others who have really established procedures and all that, Chestnut Ridge came across like a new facility, with people kind of learning their jobs and that kind of thing."

"We toured St. Martha Villa. I like where it's located, and it was on the grounds of a church, which was important to me. It wasn't too big. It was very well kept, nice looking, and very cozy, and not institutional at all. Everybody was friendly. They have a dining room and crafts room. They have a chapel. They have nice grounds to walk on. They have a bus to take you shopping."

"We toured The Terrace at Phoebe Allentown. They showed us everything we needed to see, answered all of my questions, and showed us an apartment being renovated at the time. So, they gave us all the information we needed to decide. It's a full kitchen. All the appliances were there. My relative looked at a studio, so it was all in one room, but there was a walk-in closet. There was a bathroom that was handicapped accessible. It had a shower. The kitchen appliances were all along one wall. You could put a table there. So, it was perfectly fine for someone, an elderly person. They come in once a week, clean your apartment for you, and change your sheets if you want white sheets. They had a patio on the first floor where you could sit outside. They gave you your own parking space. You got a designated parking space right in front of the building. There were options to go outside and sit."

"Phoebe Home is very nice. We saw the apartments, which were also very nice. We had a very nice lunch there, and the gentleman was absolutely wonderful, informative, and very friendly. They have a barber shop, beauty salon, and all sorts of activities, like bus trips to go shopping."

"I toured Echo Lake, and it was worth a six. It was like being in a luxury hotel. It was gorgeous. Everything that you can imagine they have, except for the chapel. They have doctors' offices. They have a gym. They had a huge art room, and a bus to take you places, like a weekly run to the supermarket, within a certain distance. Also, to doctor's offices if you didn't want to use the doctor that was there at the building. It's a couple of stories high. It was huge. For me it was expensive. They had a lot of two-bedroom units there as well."

"I visited Edgemont Terrace Apartments and it was rundown. The doors and windows were hanging. They only had shared one bedroom apartments. The woman I talked to smoked in the office and it smelled horrible. "

Country Meadows allowed us to move some of my mothers furniture into her new room and that made it seem very much like home. My mother enjoys the meals and is participating in activities. "The Highlands at Wyomissing is an upscale, lovely facility, and it's very tastefully decorated. It seems to have activities that would be appropriate for someone in memory care. The facilities are very upscale, it's first-class. As far as I'm concerned, the location is ideal because it's only 5 minutes from where I live. The neighborhood there is upscale and it's adjacent to a community park, lots of outdoor space. It's just a lovely community, no question. The staff was very professional. I've tried their food in the past, and it's good. I toured their memory care and I also toured their residential facility for the possibility that I would move there at some point."

"I will move into The Residence at Village Greens. I liked it a lot. It's very nice. The people are nice. The rooms are beautiful. They're very modern and cozy. I tried their food and it's very good. They have a good chef. The facility itself is beautiful. They really take care of it. It's all decorated for Christmas now and it looks beautiful. I think the people are their best feature. They're very friendly and upbeat, and so is the staff. They're very nice, too."

"We visited Furnace Creek Manor because we knew someone who lived there. It was like a regular apartment where you cooked your own meals. The place was very secure because no one could get in unless allowed by the residents. There was a community room where they did the activities. "

It's very friendly as far as the staff is concerned. The patients weren't able to be active. The staff in charge of my friend were very kind. I felt they were there for her, and they were attentive. They have courtyards, they have a lawn, and they have a special room that you can wheel them into for privacy. If you want to have dinner with them, you could."

"My parents moved into Sanatoga Ridge Community. What they liked most about it was the all-inclusive thing where not only do they take care of the grass and snow, they would also shovel the snow all the way up to your door, not just the common areas. The maintenance people are available to come help like hang pictures or move furniture. Part of the price that you are paying in your monthly fee is for them to come in and do some basic things like that. It provided a little bit more support for them than a typical 55 and over community. It's only been a few days, but so far, they're happy. I think they're getting the care that they needed at this stage in their life."
