"We are looking at The Terrace at Phoebe Allentown. It is very nice and it's very similar to all the others except for that they don't have the traditional just monthly rent. They have a large buy-in with several different increments that you can buy in at. The benefit of buy-in is they don't kick you out when you run out of money. You stay there for life once you're a member of their community. Their community goes through elder care. Their activities are just the same as all the rest of them. They have a hairdresser and a nurse on duty throughout the day. They have an exercise room, some computers with mind games, a pool table, and a nice library. They have puzzles and scrabbles, too. The staff members are all knowledgeable and the food is good."

"We have our name on a wait list at Chestnut Ridge at Rodale. We were welcomed. It was nice that we ran into people that we already knew. They have a lovely pool. One of the biggest positives about Chestnut Ridge is that everything is in one building. You don't have to go outside to eat or anything like that. There are many outdoor activities, like walking paths. You can walk into town on a nice path. They have gardens. We're not going to go into anything less than 1200 square feet, so they were all around 1400 square feet. It has an open concept, and nearly every room has a balcony. No problem with parking. If you want to be undercover, you'd have to pay extra for that. We did eat lunch there, and that was great. It's a fairly new facility. Compared to some of the others who have really established procedures and all that, Chestnut Ridge came across like a new facility, with people kind of learning their jobs and that kind of thing."

"The Palmerton is neat, it's clean, it's relatively new, and it's kept up very well. They have a very good staff and so far, my mother is liking it better than where she was. They have very good food and a very nice dining hall. I think they also have an activities room and they seem to make sure that they have some type of activity every day to keep these people entertained. She enjoyed the sing-along and on the 4th of July, they had two people in there singing patriotic songs. She is blind, that's why she's in assisted living. She went blind later in life so she never really learned Braille or anything like that."

"I visited a relative at Country Meadows. It was very clean and the employees were kind. The rooms where the residents stayed were nice. It was like every resident had their own little apartment. The kitchen area was very nice as well. Families can sit and eat together. The grounds had fantastic landscaping. The residents could go out and sit on a sunny day. Since it is an assisted community, nurses checked in during certain hours. It was nice to know that someone is checking in on your family member. There's also different activities that the residents participate in to make friends. When you are visiting, you can watch these activities. "

"We visited the Traditions of America at Green Pond and we had a similar experience with its sister community that we also toured. They had the same kinds of facilities. Its environment in the city is important to us. I think that we shouldn't be paying more than $6000 for a 3-bedroom house, and that includes all premiums and all upgrades. They had a swimming pool, yoga room, gym, meeting rooms, and so forth. They also had a clubhouse."

"I visited Kirkland Village. It was beautiful, but I felt that their rooms were really small and claustrophobic. There were windows only on one side. The hallways felt like a hospital. The staff was wonderful. They have all kinds of activities. The residents were very happy there, but it just wasn't for me. "

"Moravian Village has a buy-in feature, and the bedrooms are larger and more than double the other ones. It’s a big, large place, and it’s very comfortable. I liked the location. "

"When we went to Oliver C Border House, we were met by the manager and the assistant manager. They took us through the entire facility. They were very helpful and very kind. The apartment was nice. I would recommend it. There was parking close by, and the team that was working there was awesome. I liked that a senior center is attached to the building and that you can have small animals. The building was secure. Your guests call you and then you have to buzz them in. There was an elevator and a rec room. The only thing I didn't particularly care for was that they had a community washer and dryer."

"The staff at Heritage Village was very good. They're very helpful. I actually toured a townhouse and a cottage. They're very open and very bright. Even the smaller townhouses had more space in every single room than where I'm currently living now. I would definitely recommend this place to others. They have all kinds of activities. "

"My parents were a resident of Country Meadows of Forks. The place is beautiful, it's like a country club, and everything was fine. The staff was great, they always have something going on. Their room had a bedroom, another room that was like a living room, another area where they could sit down and eat, and then a separate bathroom. The food they had there was excellent. In terms of value, it's a nice place, so that's what you're going to have to to pay for."

"My visit to West Turner Residences was very insightful. I got a lot of information from the person selling the apartment. She gave me a letter about the residents, and about the overall history of the building. The apartment itself was large and spacious. They have their own laundry room down in the basement. Everything was nice and clean, and one thing that caught my eye is that each floor had a walk-out deck where you can go out and have coffee or just sit and relax with a nice lounge chair. The deck outside of the apartment building was a nice feature where you can go out on the deck and just enjoy a really nice warm day. All the residents can be nice and pleasant. That was the best senior apartment that I've seen within the Allentown, Bethlehem area. The community was good as it was close to all these shops and restaurants, and people were saying it was good for the sports events and stuff, which I like. The marketplace was right there; on a nice day, it's a nice walking distance. It was comfortable, and there's a park that is like two or three blocks over from the building. So, everything was really close, really convenient, and nice. They're building a new apartment complex on the other end, and I know recently they built another one right across from each other. That area is very nice, especially for a lot of young people. She showed me a 1- and 2-bedroom apartment. The 2-bedroom was an exception because it had a big foyer. When you come to the entrance door, it was beautiful. The appliances were all- electric and had a nice quality carpet. It's a nice large apartment where you can spread things out; everything is not tight. It was probably the best senior apartment I've seen; it's impressive. I just think at that time, my income was slightly over what the expectations were, but I think now, it might be right where they wanted it. I can't get in touch with anybody and can't get an application. So, that's one problem. It's a nice place, especially for myself; someplace that's safe and secure, and that's what I'm looking for. It's your apartment, you do your grocery shopping and that's about it. It was exactly what I wanted in an apartment. The layout was good; it was very clean. The parking was ample right in front of the building; I'm not sure if it's the same, but there was a lot of parking."
