"I am here right now. The staff is pretty good. They are very caring and patient. The room is clean, but there are two other people in it, and it has air conditioning and central heating. The food is good. "

"We looked at the independent living of Cedarbrook Nursing Home, but they have assisted living there too. I think it's very safe. It's clean and secure. It's right in a beautiful part of Arlington, where you can go to a lot of places and things. It's got good amenities like the community room that's there. It's pretty close to the nursing home, so there's activities there that they could be a part of. You also get meals if you want to pay for it. It's 30-40 years old, so it's not as modern as it could be. Everything's beige, but it's nice. The meals are not included for independent living, but you could get those extra. It's like a county home, so they don't dismiss you because you have too much money and help you if you don't have enough money. It sounds like a wonderful plan, and I really applaud them for doing it. The facilities are well-built, nice, and clean; no bells and whistles."

"Within Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital, there is an assisted living facility that is contained in what they call the Raker building. Most of the staff I encountered seemed friendly and willing to help, although some of the nurse aides seemed more interested in their cell phones than in feeding the patients. Aside from that, everyone seemed nice. The facility seemed filled with a certain pride and integrity, as this facility has been around for quite some time and has a superior reputation in the community. The food seemed of a high quality, and it seemed like there were no problems in the residents getting what they ordered, which is a problem in many of these places due to the high number of patients. The residents seemed happy to be there, and that seems to me to be the most important factor. They had decent sized rooms from what I saw, and it seemed like they were living pretty good over there. "

"Moss Rehab was fine but will not be able to provide the physical care that my mother needs. She has four therapists with her, so she is the center of attention. She likes the food very much. The gentleman who runs all of Moss Rehab is very driven to try to provide the best. "

"Luther Crest is the place my mother would like to go to, but it’s outrageously expensive. It has independent living, five different levels of assisted living, and hospice. People move in there in their 70s, then move into the cottages. From there, they can move into an apartment for independent living then into assisted living, go through the many levels of assisted living, and wind up at hospice. You can stay there forever. People living in the cottages can have their cars, so thy can go out and live their lives but have the security of knowing that they’re taken care of and their children don’t have to worry about it. It’s very elegant and everything is top notch. The rooms were beautiful and huge and had lots of storage. My mother happens to know about five people who have lived there, so she wants to move in there. Unfortunately, we can’t afford it; my mother would not have spending money left. In an ideal world, she would probably choose to go there. I didn’t see many people around. There was a big lecture hall with people in there, and others were doing exercises in an exercise room, but I didn’t see people gathering and talking. It didn’t seem very warm and welcoming. It’s much nicer than all of the others I've seen put together, but it’s not for my mother. I think it would be perfect for someone who’s very wealthy and going in there at a young age. "

"My mother is staying in Fellowship Community, and it was good. I thought their rehab was excellent, and the personal-care side was OK. I don't think they have very good communication when they move people between rehab and personal care. I think the communication needs to be a little better. They are two separate entities. I think one side really doesn't know what the other side is doing sometimes. The staff is really nice, and everybody seems to be very helpful. She's made a lot of progress there, so that was the main reason why she was there and was happy there. It is quite expensive, and there are other places that would be more affordable. The only reason we didn't move her somewhere else was she wanted to stay with her physical therapist."

"My dad was at Lehigh Center. What impressed me with this facility were the nurses and the staff. They really took care of him. They spent more time with him than anybody else. We're really impressed. My dad was in a nursing room, and basically, it was a two room with a curtain in the middle. He had a nice view of the grounds, which were quite beautiful. There was a lot of farmland and trees. The food was average. It was not good, and it was not great. My dad couldn't eat from the day he got in there because his throat started closing up, but they had everything you could possibly ask for. However, they could do something with the cosmetics of the place, maybe a new rug or something like that. "

"My mom was at Holy Family, where she was for her rehab. We were very happy with the service there. The nurses were pretty attentive to her, and they were nice. I think she liked the fact that she could socialize with some of the other people. They had a nice sunroom. She could go out on the patio, and she enjoyed that. The nurses and the aides were all very helpful and nice. As far as the social worker, we were happy with her, too. She responded to me and called me back if I had questions. She was in a shared room, but most of the time that she was there, she was by herself. She did for a short time, have a roommate, and that was a little rough. They have like an activities person come. She talked to my mom, and my mom enjoyed that, being talked to. It was pretty basic, as far as activities go. They had some low-key activities."

"Please, please think twice before putting a loved one in this facility. I had a friend that was losing her battle with cancer and unfortunately she spent the last days of her life in this hell hole. The staff here are absolutely horrific! They could not care less about human life. What my friend had to endure in her last days I will never forget because of these people. They would leave her sitting in her own feces and urine for hours without changing her. She had bed sores so bad that they were infected because they were too lazy to rotate her. When I visited her two days before she died she was crying out in so much pain because they had not given her pain medication. She was suffering!  She had not eaten since morning and she was soaking wet with urine and feces in her adult diaper. I was disgusted and crying from that shere shock of how these people had treated my friend. I immediately went to the nurses station and there was a doctor sitting there reading a patient's chart, I was crying and I told him what was going on and he couldn't even care less. A Charge Nurse came over and I again explained the situation.  She said that she would send someone in there right away. I sat and waited with my friend in her room for 20 minutes and no one showed up. I put on a pair of sterilized gloves and then proceeded to clean her myself. Tears falling from my eyes looking at the bed sores as my friend was wailing in pain. This place needs to be closed down! Shame on you! I will spread the word to everyone that I know to never go to this facility even if their life depended on it. I am now left reminded of my friends last days on this earth of the pain that she suffered not only from the cancer but from the hands of these so-called "Caregivers"  as one of the most god-awful experiences I have ever witnessed in my life."

"My mother is in Cedarbrook Fountain Hill for nursing and rehab. I haven't been able to visit because of the COVID pandemic, but when I do call they answer all my questions, tell me about her care, and help me feel at ease that everything is going well so far. For the most part everybody has been very good. We have no complaints. There are times when they seem frazzled when I call, but I can only imagine that their day is busy as well. It's more on the pricey side."

"We chose Mosser Nursing Home for mom because it's convenient for our family to get to. It's within ten miles of most of her family. We have had relatives in our family that have been there, so we felt comfortable and familiar with it. She is in skilled nursing care. The staff is very caring and very patient. It's just that the building is kind of dated and old. You can tell that they are shorthanded, but they are doing everything they can to make sure everybody gets the attention that they need. My mom is happy there. She is having more rehab right now. She's not able to get to the activities or anything yet. The layout is very convenient. It's all one floor. There's an outdoor courtyard. It's easy to get around in there."

"My husband is in a subacute nursing rehab center now. He is in Advanced Health Care of Hanover. It's relatively new. The rooms are very nice and large. He has a small refrigerator in his room so you can keep liquids or snacks. He has a nice TV. The skilled nurses are fairly attentive. What I don't like is that they don't wear any kind of uniform, and a lot of them do not wear nametags, so I don't know what their positions are. My husband likes the food. I'm not paying for it. Medicare pays for it, and I think it's a good place. They have bingo, but he doesn't go. The only time he would participate with other residents is when he's at PT or OT in the activity room, and he really doesn't talk much to other people."
