The Best Nursing Home Communities in Montgomery County, PA

"Wesley Enhanced Living Doylestown is a fantastic experience. My in-laws are very happy there. The people are very nice, professional, and were able to work with us very quickly. I have nothing but good things to say about the place. The head of nursing gave us a very nice tour on a Sunday, whereas at other places they wouldn't even talk to us until Monday, and we needed to move very quickly. One of the residents said that it's like living on a cruise ship but on land, which is a really nice compliment. I like the atmosphere and that it doesn't smell or stink. The apartments and studios are laid out really well. My in-laws love the food."

"We toured the Wesley Enhanced Living Main Line, and the residents were all very friendly and very involved in their activities of the day. They offered me lunch so I could sample the food. The apartments were all lovely and large. They were not the most expensive. They are cheaper than the other facilities. Wesley Enhanced Living Main Line is my number one choice. I'm hoping to get in there. It's nestled next to a golf course. It must be incredibly lovely during the summer. The staff was very nice. Everywhere we went, someone was cleaning. We went into people's apartments because they didn't have anything open at the moment, and they said, "Oh, I love living here. It's wonderful. Look at the view I have." I liked it, and it felt like home."

"My parents chose Riverview Estates because it had all of the things that they needed and wanted. If my dad needs to be in a memory care unit, they have that. My parents have a double room because there are two of them. It has a bed area, there is another area of the room for comfortable chairs and a TV, and you are able to fit quite a bit of furniture. They have a living room on every floor. When we visited, we looked at the room, and then we went to the living room to hang out for a while, and it was very pretty. It’s not a fancy place. It’s in a historic area, and the building is historic. It’s on a river front, so they have a beautiful view of the river. It’s decorated all throughout in antiques. They have pretty lamps and pretty rugs. My parents knew that the people who worked there were very nice, kind, and caring people. They do anything that they want or need. Really good attitude with the workers. The most valuable thing that we’re finding is the care that they receive. My dad has dementia. They were keeping an eye on my dad because he wasn’t doing well. They have a doctor who comes in every Wednesday. They go and see the doctor if they need to. The doctor found that he had atrial fibrillation on top of the dementia, and that was causing him dizziness. They solved that problem with medication. He’s getting better medical care there than he was before he went in. They love the food; they give them choices. It’s like going through a restaurant 3 times a day. They serve them their big meal in the middle of the day, and then they serve somewhat smaller meals, sandwich, soup-type thing in the evening and then breakfast. They have cards and bingo, and they do have trips. They take them to Wal-Mart and the Dollar Store once a week. They go to a restaurant once a month. "

"I liked that Juniper Village at Bucks County has independent living, assisted living, and nursing care. They're highly rated and there's one fee to get in, plus another monthly fee. They showed me 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom apartments, both of which were very nice. They offer spring and fall cleaning services, and they have a bus to take you to your appointments if you tell them ahead of time. I wish the staff member knew more. For example, I had to meet with the activities director in order to learn what activities they have because the sales person didn't know that. They offer one meal a day for assisted living and three a day for those in the nursing home."

"My sister moved up to Phoebe Richland Community. It was very welcoming. They gave her all the physical therapy she could handle, which was great. She had physical therapy almost every day and occupational therapy almost every day when she got there. She still gets it quite frequently. The staff is very nice. She enjoys the other residents there. She says she has a wonderful time getting to know them and they're very caring also. I was there one Saturday when the director himself was helping someone move into their memory care area. He was moving the clothing and stuff in himself on a Saturday. They're just delightful. There's an exercise class of some kind every morning, wheelchair volleyball, chair, or tai-chi. There's at least one activity every morning and one or two activities every afternoon. Every day I call or when I talk to my sister, she'll say, "Oh yes, we had an exercise this morning." It's a smaller place, so they can't offer the diversity of activities that a larger facility might offer. The assisted living has a beautiful lounge area when you walk in. The dining room is lovely. You couldn't ask for anything better. I get no complaints from my sister except there's no salt, but she can bring some herself. That's for health reasons. I saw two small library reading areas, a game room, a big lounge, and a dining room. She's in a temporary room right now because there were no rooms available, so it's a little small but very nice and furnished. It has a dresser, a wardrobe, a chair, a bed, a little kitchenette, and a beautiful bathroom that's handicapped accessible. It is less expensive than others for definitely something better. Their staff is especially caring. This place is much more consistent with their staffing, which means the staff gets to know their people better."

"St. Mary's Catholic Home admitted mom yesterday. We choose it because of its reputation and we when to talk to them they are great. The facility is clean. The employees are all smiling. The administrator and the people are wonderful. They call the residents there who walk in the hallway by name. Her room is very nice. It has a nice stand, a chair and an area for her clothes. It is sunny and it is by the window. We have lunch there and the food is very good. They are very fresh and tasty. They have activities for the residents. "

"My mom is a resident of Elmwood Hills Healthcare Center. She had a stage four bedsore and we were limited to certain places that would be able to give her the care that she needed. The staff are friendly and professional. They have bingo but my mom is pretty much bedridden so she's not able to get around. The place is very clean and it's very appealing. It's only 15 minutes from our house, so we can get there every day. It's also near different malls and shopping."

"I'm on a priority list at Freedom Village at Brandywine and I really did like it very, very much. The endowment was not quite as expensive as others. I liked the layout of the apartments. They had some individual places that were more like townhouses with the garage underneath and an elevator up to your apartment. They were separate from the main building. I like the independence of it, but still having the ability to use all the amenities. I also liked the fact that there were fireplaces in their apartments. What I was interested in was their separate terrace homes. My son and I did have lunch when we visited. Their dining room was lovely and the food was excellent. It was the best of variety. You have to order from the menu and it was very nice, everything from salad to steak. The only objection I have at this point was that it's a little farther away from where my son lives than I would like it to be. "

"Yesterday i visited a very good friend of mine & when i say the environment is SO peaceful here! The CNA Christina was absolutely amazing! she is literally so warm and sweet & Lavania was also great. I’m so grateful for them and i honestly just wanted to leave this review in hopes of showing my appreciation! Thank you."

"I was a resident at Suburban Woods in September and October of 2020. The physical therapy staff was instrumental in helping me achieve and maintain an improved state of mobility in the aftermath of the injury that landed me there. The entire staff, most notably the nurses and their assistants, were most helpful, and inclined to see that my needs were met and that I was comfortable. I was fed satisfying food, and admissions director in a hands-on capacity was exemplary. Needless to say, Suburban Woods receives my recommendation to anyone who is in need of the types of services they offer. Hats off to all of my therapists! "

"My mother was a resident in one of the Acts Retirement Facilities called Normandy Farm in Blue Bell for 19 years. I was satisfied with the staff when she was there. One thing they can improve on is communication. If a resident is showing signs of not being able to stay independent in his/her home, they need to contact the family. They didn't do that. My mom didn't have the capacity to make those choices for herself. She has now moved to a skilled care. "

"Business brought me into the heart of this facility and there is nothing I can find negative. My inside travels clearly showed the staff to be well above average in every way. The sincerity and care is easy to see in the interplay between the staff and the residents; there is laughter,camaraderie, respect and genuine interest which shine through. I saw and felt genuine relationships and friendships. On one visit I was in awe watching a young aide wheeling a crying resident down the hall; the aide was pushing with one hand while using her other to soothe the woman by rubbing her shoulder and play with her hair. She then leaned over rubbed her cheek and said "we can't have this...let's go and find something we can do for fun." My overall feelings were confident and comfortable. I would (and have) happily referred to this facility. I would have no hesitation if the need arose to place one of my own loved one's into these caring hands. "

"My mother is currently at Ambler Extended Care. She is a stroke victim with dementia and in a wheelchair. She has been there a year and it's the best choice we've made. Her previous place was horrible. The aids stole her stuff, neglected her and she hated the food. Here she is happy, there are endless activities, the staff is kind and she loves the food options. Ambler is by no means perfect, but the genuinely care for my mother. Ambler has extended her quality of life tremendously. Im grateful for all they do. "

"My father was there for rehab after a heart problem at home. The hospital recommended Towne Manor East. The facility was clean and all of the staff was so nice. They helped my dad and he was able to go home. This place has really improved over the years. And I was happy to hear that the facility was deficiency free. I would definitely recommend this facility to any family looking for their loved one. "
