Do NOT trust your loved ones here- I am writing this review from the neuro ICU where my mom is currently in the second week of a coma. The people I trusted in this facility assured me that they were monitoring my mom’s sudden cognitive decline and wrote it up the hallucinations she was experiencing as a UTI despite insistent concerns- pulling my mom out of this facility saved her life I have no doubts about it.

There are a few conscientious nurses and CNA's. The leadership is incompetent and accepts lousy work ethic from some of the staff. The excellent staff they treat with indifference and then they quit. My relative waited and hour to use the bathroom. They are understaffed and many staff are loud, even rude in their communication to the residents.

The staff, the little that is there is good. But being so short handed, it could take a very long time for assistance. This is especially frustrating for those needing help getting to the bathroom, needing pain medication, repositioning, or moving from wheelchair to bed. I worry about those who do not have family there to speak for them. The errors between transportation and SM is bad. The facility is clean.

This facility is understaffed and unqualified to deal with patients suffering with dementia. My father was sent to Sanatoga Center from PMMC for rehabilitation after heart problems and was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia, a horrible disease that causes hallucinations and aggression in patients. Each time my father would become combative they instantly called an ambulance to take him to the ER....knowingvthere is little the ER can do for him...One thing stressed by doctors treating LBD is to give the patient as much continuity in living arrangements. Jostling them around only causes greater confusion, more hallucinations and violent outbursts. I find it ridiculous that this place was unable to handle a very all weak man. At one point they took him out to a doctors appt and he tried to leave the office....he didn't get out of the building. After that incident I was required to accompany him to all appointments. When I couldn't they refused to transport him to see his pulmanologist. If my schedule allowed for all of his appointments he would be home with me where I know he'd receive the best care. Unfortunately I have a handicapped, non verbal, wheel chair bound daughter that requires complete care, and I'm attending community college on a full time basis and was unable to devote the time to caring for Dad myself. I assumed that reputable rehabilitation center would be able to provide the care he needs. Obviously if it isn't an easy illness this place doesn't have time for it. To top it off they are refusing to take my father back upon his discharge. It's pitiful that they as professional can't see that my father has no control over this disease ....he is a prisoner of his own mind and he's angry and scared of what's happening to him..He has gotten nasty with me on occasion due to symptoms of his illness.....since when do caring professional medically trained caregivers penalize an I'll patient for having an illness they can't control. I'm appalled at the lack of compassion they have for those sent to their facility suffering from a disease they surely didn't ask for!! Shame on all of them!!!! Would they want their loved ones to be treated in this manner?

My dad was in Sanatoga Center before. One building was assisted living, and one building was rehab and nursing. The staff was nice, but they were understaffed, and they could use more help. It was clean. They get three meals a day, and you can either eat in the room or go to the dining hall, but you get what they serve you.

My mother got MRSA there. Ultimately, it's what killed her. They didn't come when she rang for the bedpan and when the inevitable happened, they still didn't answer the call bell --ALL NIGHT. She ended up with a bedsore from lying in her urine all night, which they allowed to become infected. She also got MRSA in her lung because of their lack of clean protocols. I will NEVER forgive them, and will tell my story to anyone looking for a rehab for their loved one.
