I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

This community is providing such a caring and healthy atmosphere for my loved one. She feels safe and has all her needs met in a prompt and caring way. Her room is always clean, her wash is done, bed is changed and made, shower and medicine assistance are given. Meals are prepared and served. The staff is respectful, friendly, and always seems to have my loved one smiling. Ms.Cox went out of her way repeatedly to assure a smooth and quick placement...and she continues to check in with my loved one and me. Ms. Cox videotaped the entire experience so we could see it prior to our arrival and she had a beautiful room furnished and waiting for our arrival. It is so cozy and feels like home. The activities are wonderful. Lori makes sure all clients know what is being offered and makes them feel so welcome to participate. My loved one loves Lori. There are outside trips, like Cracker Barrel; inside "trips" like bringing in therapy animals or Olive Garden catering for a special occasion. My loved one enjoys playing many different kinds of games, being in a card group, exercise group and a culinary group...just to name a few. She also loves going to church next to the library, having Bible Study, and enjoying any time spent with Pastor Dory, who is phenomenal! My loved one has become so much stronger taking Vi's exercise sessions and she loves participating in them. She can go downstairs to the beauty salon to get a beautiful style and manicure. She is also seen in house by a podiatrist and medical staff. Her blood is drawn in her room and she is taken to and from all her appointments. She absolutely loves the drivers who always make her feel special. We are very pleased with Country Meadows Wyomissing for sure.

Thank you for sharing your experiences with Country Meadows.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

We have chosen Country Meadows of Wyomissing for my father-in-law. The place is excellent. We were greeted by a few members of the staff who are all very nice, and we were introduced to more along the way. The place was very nice, very clean, and the staff was kind and courteous. We just hope that it's the right fit for him. The menu looked quite good, but I have not tried the food yet. The atmosphere was very homey. They allow their residents to bring in their own things. Overall, the rooms were just wonderful. They have a fitness director present a few days a week. They also have different entertainers that come from time to time. They do crafts, men's night once a month, a special club for the veterans, hiking, and all sorts of things. We are very pleased with everything about that facility.

Provider Response

Thank you for giving our team the honor of getting to know your father-in-law. Our co-workers enjoy building relationships with our residents and finding ways to make each and every day a bit brighter. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have. Welcome!

My 98 year old mother recently moved to Country Meadows. We have been very pleased with the care that she is receiving. The transition was much easier than we anticipated. Country Meadows allowed us to move some of my mothers furniture into her new room and that made it seem very much like home. My mother enjoys the meals and is participating in activities. We appreciate the inviting look of the interior of the facility which further enhances the comforting arrangement. The staff has been very helpful.

Provider Response

Thank you for sharing your mother with our team. So thrilled to read that she is adjusting well and enjoying her new, worry-free lifestyle. We appreciate you sharing your experience, and thank you for those five beautiful stars!

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom is currently in Country Meadows of Wyomissing. She's in what they call Pathways, assisted living but for folks with dementia. She has been there since 2012. What we liked is that they've been able to manage her through the different stages of dementia up to this point and provided her with a community where she can interact with people. And she seemed to enjoy it there. I would think her room wasn't as clean as it could be. They could have had it a little bit cleaner, but it was spacious enough for her to fit her own furniture in there. So, a good-sized room and definitely livable, but just not completely clean all the time. They have very similar activities for the residents and different levels of care. So, depending on what level you're at, the activities are a little bit more, more activities available for those that can function more. They have bingo, they just have various craftwork that they can do. They talk about current events, talk about history. They watch movies. They also go extracurricular, outside of the facility to go dining as well as shopping.

Provider Response

Thank you for choosing to share your mother with our team for so many years. Typically we hear from residents and families who are thrilled about the high level of service we provide, including our weekly housekeeping services. We will be sure to pass along your concerns to our team as we strive to satisfy all our residents and their families. Again, thank you!

My dad moved into Country Meadows Retirement Communities. He doesn't want to be anywhere except his house, and he has not adjusted fully to it yet. It's very nice. We took a tour and we went in several times. His room is nice and good size. The location, I think, is fine. He has no complaints about the place, and we don't either. They take care of him, and they check on him. His blood pressure spiked a few times, and they caught that and took care of that right away. They talked to the doctor, changed his meds, and that's under control now. They assist him with whatever is needed for dressing and things, and I think they're doing what they said they will be doing to help him. So far, we've been very pleased with it. They have a fitness director and an activities director, and I think they're trying to keep him involved with things.

Provider Response

Thank you for choosing to share your father with Country Meadows. It can take some time to adjust to a new way of life, and our team will work hard to help your father feel comfortable. We do have on-site fitness centers and fitness directors to help residents achieve or maintain good health. We also offer many dynamic living opportunities for residents from volunteer service to entertainment, socialization and outings to educational classes. We are proud of our co-workers who go above and beyond to provide residents with exceptional care and numerous opportunities to enjoy life. Please reach out to us with any questions or concerns you may have. Again, thank you for choosing Country Meadows.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father has been a resident for more than 5 years. Initially, I was impressed with the facilities. For the first few years, my father was proud to call Country Meadows his home. No longer--he complains to everyone about his living conditions. I have noticed a decline in services--especially food and food service handlers and frequent staff turnover. My poor rating of staff only refers to food service. My father has looked at other facilities but is hesitant to leave since his physicians are nearby. Although my father has had health issues, his mind is good, which makes this extremely sad.

Provider Response

We are sorry you have this impression. Please reach out to the campus executive director so we can remedy the situation. Thank you.

The staff is very accommodating. They listen to your concerns and work with you. The efficiency apartment is just big enough. The bathroom is very nice and easily accessible. The kitchenette is small but functional. The gathering areas where they have activities are homelike. There is a feeling of comraderie with the other residents and staff. The social hour before dinner is very nice. It brings the residents together before dinner for conversation and hospitality. It’s a very nice place to live for someone who wants their independence, but should not be living alone.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

If I could give less than one star I would do it. A friend of the family was finally convinced by her family (3 of 4 members) to move to independent living and surrender her house. She loved her house and loving living there. She was diagnosed with dementia, the Doctor would not indicate Alzheimer's although some members of family had tried to convince him to do so. She was not angry of disoriented and never felt she needed to go there. When she arrived she had a nice place in independent living and was adjusting fine and trying to make the best of it. I visited her often and was hopeful in her transition. Then they wanted her to use a walker, which she never needed before nor did she want. So she agreed to that. THEN within a month the nurses started to discuss moving her to building two into the locked-down portion. Why? She had trouble finding her room twice and wasn't always willing to participate in the activities, but rather would return to her room and nap. She did not seem combative. Since they moved her to the lock down area she is not as well groomed, hair is mostly in disarray, and she now resides with others who are in advanced stages of dementia and /or severe mental illness. A healthy individual could not survive here without declining in health! It is similar to a co-ed dorm. Other residents wander into her room and she needs to escort them out, men often leave their room in their underwear and once a male resident wandered into her room at night when she was sleeping. Incidentally, their practice of saying there suddenly is room in the lock-down area is a false sales practice. From being in there I can tell you there are always open rooms.

Provider Response

We’re very sorry you have this impression. This is surprising as we usually hear compliments for our co-workers and care levels. Please feel free to reach out to the Country Meadows Home Office to further discuss your concerns.

I visited this facility

Country Meadows was beautiful. I’m actually probably going to put her in there because where she is now isn’t strictly a locked-down facility. I was looking for a locked-down. This was one of the places I looked at, and they had a dementia unit. I didn’t taste the food, but it looked really good. The staff seemed really nice, and they do a lot of activities. The rooms were very nice. Everything seemed wonderful.

Provider Response

I visited this facility

At Country Meadows, the visit was very welcoming and very informative. They were very pleasant. They welcomed us with open arms. They were not really pushy. They showed us upfront what the cost would be for my mother. They explained all the options. What stood out to me were the activities and the pleasant surroundings. The people that we met there, both the staff and the residents, they were very friendly.

The facility is clean and well staffed. The dementia ward in particular is very nice, and special care is taken to keep those residing there safe. There are special precautions taken to make sure visitors can easily enter and exit via a touch pad and a picture with the code that those without dementia can figure out. They take special care to make sure we are kept up to date on medication changes as well as any incidents that may occur. They also don't require direct input to make changes as necessary, and have done a very good job for the 3 years I have dealt with them. Parking is plentiful and easily accessed. It sits adjacent to the Schuykill River and has some lovely views. Though it's not cheap it's also not outrageous, and they were knowledgeable and helpful while going through the process of having my grandfather's estate used, and after setting up government assistance.

I visited this facility

Our first impression of Country Meadows is that it's a great and very fine facility. The place is clean and decorated nicely. The accommodations seem comfortable and the furniture appears to be well taken care of. The staff member who gave us the tour was very knowledgeable and informative. We went on a tour of the whole building. She showed us 2 apartments. We were also shown the dining rooms and all the different services that the facility can provide. The dining room is lovely. With cleared tables and clean china and linens on the tables. The food seemed very good. They also have a beautiful chapel for worship. There are a great many activities for the residents there. Also, there's a fitness room and all sorts of other rooms where people can get together and have company and fellowship with each other. I believe that this facility is one of the nicest, mid-line priced independent living homes we've seen this year. I would definitely recommend Country Meadows to others.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mother was a resident at Country Meadows for her last 6 years. Her accommodations were comfortable. We felt that she was well cared for. The residence was clean and tastefully decorated. The staff was courteous, cheerful, and caring. Our visiting was unrestricted and welcomed. As my mother's health declined, the staff went out of their way to allow her to stay in assisted living. She was temporarily moved to a building for more attention when she had a temporary setback. While it was a difficult transition for Mom to go into a home after 90 years of independence, she appeared to enjoy the variety of activities offered. She was shuttled to her appointments, for occasional excursions, and for shopping. We believe that she made a good choice to enter Country Meadows.
