My parents are both in assisted living. The staff is consistently above and beyond in kindness, cheer, work ethic, professionalism, and general helpfulness. The other residents, primarily from the Plain community, are personable to the best of their abilities, inclusive of newcomers. Not every room has a view, but the surroundings are of gentle farmland and seasonal flower gardens. Rooms, lounges, gym, library, meeting rooms, porches, and outdoor walking areas are attractive and clean. My parents’ one complaint is lack of fresh food, which seems inexcusable when farm stands are visible from the campus and produce auctions are nearby. But nary a fresh strawberry, peach, bean, pea or watermelon slice has crossed their plate this summer, for shame.

I visited Fairmount Homes. I'm not interested in living there. No food was cooked there. It was all brought in in containers every morning if you wanted to get something down in the restaurant. No pets were allowed. It was beautiful that it was at the top of the hill. But they don't like to see TVs in apartments or anything like that. The apartments were beautiful. The staff who toured me were excellent. I can't complain about them. The view was fantastic. It's a very plain community. But the dining area was very small. Food was in containers there if you wanted to go down and buy something. Every morning, they bring these containers in and put them like on heaters or something there. It was different. I wouldn't want to eat there.

Fairmount Homes was a very large and nice facility. It felt kind of sprawling from one end to the other. We went by golf cart from one end of the campus to the other. It was like a conservative church home. It would be a good facility for my friend because she would be with people of like faith. We looked at apartments that were nice, clean, and practical.

My brother is in Fairmount Homes for rehab. It's been wonderful, absolutely wonderful. It's beautiful, well run, well taken care of, and the nurses are all so nice. It's a great place to be. They're open and honest. They talk so you can understand what they're saying. So many of them use professional words that Mr. and Mrs. don't understand, but these guys are really good. They have a cafe, and it's OK. It's right on the very top of a ridge. You could see five miles in either direction.
