"We've been to The Highlands at Wyomissing numerous times, but we just felt that's out of our budget for the kind of housing we want. It's a beautiful facility. They have everything, good location. The apartments were very nice. They have a lot of different housing combinations. They have a lot of different sizes, from a single cottage to a one-bedroom. They have a pool. They have a lot of amenities. The staff was very nice."

"I liked The Lutheran Home at Topton very much, but they don't have the plan that the other place has where you pay one price when you move in and if you need nursing home care, you still pay the same price, so they don't have that option. The place seemed nice. We liked everything about it, except they didn't have the option for long-term care. We saw a cottage and it was nice. We saw a couple of very nice apartments. The problem is, that nothing is available. You have to wait until somebody moves out before the bigger type of apartments that we're interested in would be available. We had lunch and breakfast there one time, and it was very, very nice, and the food was very good. Everybody was very friendly. It seemed like a very nice atmosphere. They have movies, bingo, and card games. I think you could be as busy as you want to be or not however you choose to do it."

"My brother is in Fairmount Homes for rehab. It's been wonderful, absolutely wonderful. It's beautiful, well run, well taken care of, and the nurses are all so nice. It's a great place to be. They're open and honest. They talk so you can understand what they're saying. So many of them use professional words that Mr. and Mrs. don't understand, but these guys are really good. They have a cafe, and it's OK. It's right on the very top of a ridge. You could see five miles in either direction."

"We have visited Tel Hai. It's an excellent facility. They have thought about everything. It could be an exceptional experience for anybody. It's top shelf. It's independent living, but they also have some assisted care if you need to go there, which is one of its nice things. It's great, but I'm not convinced that I want to put that much money into it. The staff who gave the tour was excellent. We also know a number of people who live there, and they all say the same thing, that the food is very, very good."

"StoneRidge - Poplar Run was probably one of my favorites. It was a very good option. We liked their care program. It was very nice in terms of amenities and aesthetics, and it felt inviting. The apartments were very nice, and they all have very nice floor plans. What I liked most about this place is all the mechanical stuff is outside the apartment. So, the maintenance could happen without having someone come into the unit. The dining area looked clean and inviting. At independent living, they have a meal plan where they could have so many meals a month. And if you add more meals to the plan, you would have to pay extra. I only met the staff who took us on a tour and she was great."

"My dad was at Frederick Living. It was a beautiful, fantastic place. It was nice. I couldn't have picked a better place for him to go. The staff was all pretty caring. They had their own bistro there."

"My Mom was here in May 2017 after a hip replacement at the age of 85 for Rehabilitation. Within a few weeks they had her walking with her cane and ready to go home and resume her active lifestyle. She loved it here! They were friendly, treated her kindly and with respect and she progressed wonderfully! We are so happy that she has returned here to do further rehab after a stroke last month. She is doing well and we hope to have a good recovery. She loves it here and says the food and nurses are wonderful. So far I can only say good things about this home. Thank you Seton Manor for such good care of my Mom!"

"Country Meadows Retirement Communities was very nice. The person that gave me the tour of the memory care was very knowledgeable. It was the biggest facility that I viewed, but the buildings, grounds, and interiors were all top-notch. The staff was very good, too."

"United Zion Retirement Community is very clean and well-kept. Their food is very good. They could use a little more staff. They're very nice, but each person has plenty to do. It doesn't have a swimming pool or some of the health things that other places have. I think the cost is a little less because of that. It's very well established. It's been here a long time. They have local people doing the cooking. I know they have invited some of the people who are in independent living to come into the kitchen and help them prepare food. They allow some of that, such as green beans, that they just need to have the ends snipped off and broken into pieces, things like that, not necessarily things that they would need to use a knife. I don't think they do a lot of trips and things like that. It's a very good value because it's a very safe place and very low key and I think that makes it very safe. There's nothing here I would improve. It's very secure. I chose it because of availability and reasonable rates plus their reputation here in town is excellent. They will be opening a new building and have 36 new apartments."

"We are going to be moving into Luther Acres. Everything is neat and clean. It is not too big and not too small. We like the layout of the apartments. We also like the fact that, as a non-profit, if you should run out of money, they can't kick you out. The rooms look great. All their different facilities look wonderful. They have a good exercise room and a nice pool. My sister and I are very adamant about having a decent pool with exercise classes and so on. Everything at Luther Acres was very nice. We really like it. Everybody we met was very nice. Even the girl who helped us out where we had our lunch was very pleasant and very helpful. They had great food, too."

"I toured Landis Homes. I like the place. What I didn't like about it was you had to go through a lot of hallways to get to the pool and some of the activities. They have a beautiful gym. What I liked about it was they manned their gym and their pool all the time that it's open. Now, some of these other communities don't. Landis Homes did, and they have a beautiful gym and pool, and they have railroads, trains. I sampled food there. They have three restaurants, too. It's very good. The staff is pleasant."

"I like the location of Luther Crest Senior Living Community. It's a little outside of the city. After 40 years of living in a house, making a change is not going to be easy, but I found that it's a nice location. I looked at a one-bedroom apartment, and I could see the woods and the scenery and all that, so that was a nice feeling. The staff who gave the tour was very accommodating, very kind, and very knowledgeable. She knew what she was talking about. She had all the information. Everything was in great shape. They take very good care of their place. The staff was saying that when you move into a unit they replace the carpeting, they paint, and they put in all the new appliances, so that's a good sign there. They're not letting it get rundown. I didn't eat there, but we walked by the dining room area very slowly, so I could see what people were having for meals and the atmosphere and everything. The dessert area for the dining room was, "Wow!" It's very high-level for those desserts. Everything was very modern. Nothing was rundown. The outside was very pretty; I can't complain there."

"Moravian Manor was a wonderful facility. My mother was surrounded by loving staff, they were always improving the facility, and it’s just a beautiful location up Lichester Country. We were very pleased with the care that she got there for a long time. They would have bingo and different discussion groups. Once a month or so they would take them outings, and residents would do bowling from their wheelchairs so they would take them on different outings, and the grounds were beautiful. The meals were good, and they had a nice café in the building where you could purchase different items. "

"I toured Simpson Meadows Retirement Community. It's just really well-kept. It's nicely appointed. The people were wonderful. It's like one-stop shopping. They have a general practitioner, a podiatrist, and a dentist. They do phlebotomy work, x-rays, and a whole host of eye doctors that come into the facility, and any specialist you would go out with, they have transportation included. All types of activities and groups come in. They get musical groups that come once a week. They have a lot. They have dining and all that good stuff and housekeeping. You bring your belongings and furniture. I'll get to pick all the flooring, the wall colors, and all that stuff, so it's personalized right for my uncle. The tour was very informative. They've been great about staying in touch and working it through. They gave me a lot of guidance because he's a veteran. The services that would be beneficial to him and income from vets, they hooked me up with all that and even a realtor in Florida where he is, that would help with packing, moving out, and selling. The staff was wonderful. I've been in some of the buildings where you could smell urine and this one was immaculate."
