"Masonic Village at Elizabethtown was a very nice place. It's very large. It has a great deal of activities. It has buses that go around and pick people up. They visit different places for activities. I don't even know how many people are in there, but it's huge. You would get lost for a while, but other than that, it's a beautiful place. It's very well set up. It has some very old buildings there and the newer buildings they built were in the style of the old buildings to keep up with the whole ambiance of the place. The insides are beautiful. They have them very well put together. It's a very lovely place. My husband loved it, but it was just too far from where we live right now. It was about a 100-mile drive and our kids were not happy about that. The staff was very accommodating, very nice, and very friendly. We visited only the apartments."

"My mom is in skilled care at ManorCare. They’re very good to Mother, who is a problem patient; she’s a little demanding. ManorCare is a very clean place. Of course, my mother can’t be pleased by anything, anywhere, anytime, and any year. We pop in unexpectedly all the time, and she is very well taken care of 24/7. They have entertainment every day and keep residents very busy. She is allowed to go out to visit. They have nice screened-in rooms and sun porches, and physical therapy, doctors, footcare, and a hairdresser. Everything is right-on in the facility. I will give them a 5 because they have more patience and tolerance than I could have. I haven’t eaten their food, but it looks wonderful. These places are expensive, but they have worked with me very patiently and very diligently to get me all kinds of assistance. They have just been marvelous to work with. They know things in and out better than I do. "

"I was at Kadima Rehabilitation & Nursing At Campbelltown for therapy. The staff was great. The food could be improved on, but they have it tailored for everybody in the place, so they're limited in what they can do in terms of salt, seasonings, and stuff. They've been working on improving what they have there. The girls that ran the activities department were really good, and the people who did the therapy were good, but the kind of therapy was limited because of the kind of place that it was."

"My mom has been a resident in the Arcadia unit since the beginning of 2020. My family is so relieved to know that she receives excellent care from the kind and caring staff. Everyone knows the residents preferences and stories, and we are always greeted warmly. Even in these trying times, all is being done to keep the residents safe snd happy. Can't thank them enough!"

"Homeland Center was horrendous. It was dingy and very dark, and first impressions were very unfavorable. The facility section that my dad would have been in was one hallway. The room he would have been in had a view of a white brick wall because I pulled open the curtains and I saw a brick wall. The room was very dark and dismal. The space that is allowed for the residents was minimal to the point where I looked outside on the terrace to see what the outdoor section would be like, and it was extremely small. You were looking almost at a barrier, because they had to build a high fence, so there was just no view at all. I felt that every question I asked was met with, "Well, not in this section." I walked out and quite frankly, my husband and I agreed we wouldn't put a dead dog in there. When people said it's lovely, it's not the section we were shown nor was the section he would be allowed to go in. You enter a lobby and then you have to take an elevator. There's no welcoming feeling at all. On the second floor, there was a hallway where the residents gather and live, and it's very confined and very depressing. Walking through it, it felt very institutional and very dated. There's very limited opportunities. I did not see a flow for anything to happen that would be beyond what I'm familiar with in other places. I would never recommend it to anyone. My father would've needed skilled care there, and he was gonna be long term. I'm sure Homeland comes highly recommended, but I don't think it's the area that we saw. When I asked to see that, we were not permitted. So, when I've heard positive things, it's probably truthful on another wing, and I didn't have preview to that. I only know what I saw."

"My mother is in The Gardens at Camp Hill. I haven't been able to see it as of yet. My interaction with the staff has been good. They made time for me to video chat with my mother. She seems to be getting along with people very well and enjoying a lot of the staff that work with her. My mother is in the skilled unit currently. She was in quarantine for a little bit, but she is out of quarantine now. I can bring her stuff and I may be able to see her room, but I'm not going to be able to go inside of it. From the outside, I might be able to see it. The facility itself is quarantining the residents from the outside. So far, the atmosphere seems to be positive. If I suggest an activity that my mother likes, even if I mention it second hand, they say that they can get those things for her. I want to ask the staff about the activities; that's something I'm not sure at the moment what they're doing. I know my mother is doing activities on her own like coloring and crossword, but I don't know if they need to schedule an activity with her at the moment. There is a lot I don't know about the facility as of yet. However, I feel like my mother is being taken care of. I feel like there is some decent communication and positive interactions with my mother."

"The best thing about this facility was the physical therapy. The physical therapists seemed genuinely interested, friendly, caring and competent. Mom enjoyed working with them. They explained their plans and Mom's progress with me whenever I asked. They were very helpful when it came time to plan for her discharge and helping us figure out how to best support her when she got home. This is a one-floor facility with a lot of large windows, so the public areas are sunny and reasonably cheerful. The residents seemed to enjoy the food, although some who had difficulty eating didn't get much staff support that would have been very helpful to them. We did have some problems with medical staff contradicting each other regarding medications and infectious disease protocols. But everything eventually got straightened out. Regardless, she got terrific physical therapy at Golden Living Center and was discharged in 2 weeks with excellent discharge planning. "

"My dad is in a full nursing home dementia unit at Golden Living Center. The staff there is very responsive. My dad is being very well taken care of. He gets walking therapy there. There is enough staff to take care of him. His room is just a typical hospital setting. "

"We toured The Campus of the Jewish Home of Greater Harrisburg. We only met with one person, but the receptionist when you came in was very, very nice. We had to sign in and take our temperature, and then sign two books: one for our temperature, and one for just visiting the place. We met with the admissions director and she also was very lovely. When we left, we didn't have to take our temperature, but we had to sign out. The facility is beautiful. I mean, the grounds are well kept and landscaped very nicely. My mother-in-law is going to get a private room, but most of the rooms are semi-private. So we looked at a room. We didn't have a chance to get into the single room, but we're going to go back there after we finish some paperwork. My grandmother was there for almost five years. We like the location. It's not far from us at all."

"We are on a waiting list for Londonderry Village. When we visited there, we liked what we saw, and it's about 15 minutes from one of our daughters, so it would be easy to attend the boys' athletic stuff, and she can pick us up and take us home for dinner or whatever. We toured everything. They have a big independent living. There is a pool, a hot tub, and a restaurant. Just about anything we need is right in the area. We like the way that it seems to do a lot with the community, like with the high school kids visiting and things like that. There are a lot of activities, too. The staff member who gave the tour was fine. She was very personable. The facility was very nice. Everything was very clean and well- kept. They have beauty and barber services there. They even have a playground for when the grandkids are visiting. There's a fire pit where wood is provided, and they also have another one that's a gas thing where you just start it and it lights up. They have a lot of different churches coming in. We're Catholic, and they have a Catholic mass once a month, and I think that's nice. There seems to be a bunch of different nationalities, and all of them seem to get along really well. We toured a duplex that we would be getting, and things were being upgraded because a new resident was coming in."

"My father is at Encompass Health Rehabilitation. The staff is very attentive. I don't have anything negative to say. They've been wonderful with my dad. He's doing physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy there. The room is big. He's eating their food, and he's very picky, so it must be good and he seems to enjoy it."

"We visited a friend at Messiah Lifeways Mechanicsburg, PA. They have a lovely restaurant right on the campus. The restaurant is very nice. Delicious food. My friend has a two-bedroom apartment. She has a nice two-car garage, too. She uses her car on one side and the other is her storage. It's nice. It's all good. The staff seems very nice. The place is very nice and very attractive. With regards to activities, my friend is really happy with the activities. She has joined a couple of different things that she was interested in and it looks like she has a lot of choices. She is very pleased with it. She thought that it was very reasonable in terms of what she could afford and what she could expect from them. I think she is very happy with it so far."
