"Homeland Center was horrendous. It was dingy and very dark, and first impressions were very unfavorable. The facility section that my dad would have been in was one hallway. The room he would have been in had a view of a white brick wall because I pulled open the curtains and I saw a brick wall. The room was very dark and dismal. The space that is allowed for the residents was minimal to the point where I looked outside on the terrace to see what the outdoor section would be like, and it was extremely small. You were looking almost at a barrier, because they had to build a high fence, so there was just no view at all. I felt that every question I asked was met with, "Well, not in this section." I walked out and quite frankly, my husband and I agreed we wouldn't put a dead dog in there. When people said it's lovely, it's not the section we were shown nor was the section he would be allowed to go in. You enter a lobby and then you have to take an elevator. There's no welcoming feeling at all. On the second floor, there was a hallway where the residents gather and live, and it's very confined and very depressing. Walking through it, it felt very institutional and very dated. There's very limited opportunities. I did not see a flow for anything to happen that would be beyond what I'm familiar with in other places. I would never recommend it to anyone. My father would've needed skilled care there, and he was gonna be long term. I'm sure Homeland comes highly recommended, but I don't think it's the area that we saw. When I asked to see that, we were not permitted. So, when I've heard positive things, it's probably truthful on another wing, and I didn't have preview to that. I only know what I saw."

"My mother is in The Gardens at Camp Hill. I haven't been able to see it as of yet. My interaction with the staff has been good. They made time for me to video chat with my mother. She seems to be getting along with people very well and enjoying a lot of the staff that work with her. My mother is in the skilled unit currently. She was in quarantine for a little bit, but she is out of quarantine now. I can bring her stuff and I may be able to see her room, but I'm not going to be able to go inside of it. From the outside, I might be able to see it. The facility itself is quarantining the residents from the outside. So far, the atmosphere seems to be positive. If I suggest an activity that my mother likes, even if I mention it second hand, they say that they can get those things for her. I want to ask the staff about the activities; that's something I'm not sure at the moment what they're doing. I know my mother is doing activities on her own like coloring and crossword, but I don't know if they need to schedule an activity with her at the moment. There is a lot I don't know about the facility as of yet. However, I feel like my mother is being taken care of. I feel like there is some decent communication and positive interactions with my mother."

"My dad is in a full nursing home dementia unit at Golden Living Center. The staff there is very responsive. My dad is being very well taken care of. He gets walking therapy there. There is enough staff to take care of him. His room is just a typical hospital setting. "

Everyone knows the residents preferences and stories, and we are always greeted warmly. Even in these trying times, all is being done to keep the residents safe snd happy. Can't thank them enough!"

"Penn State Health Rehabilitation Hospital was a really fantastic rehab community. It's an acute care place and I went there straight from the hospital. It's not as fancy inside as the other places I have been to, but it's state-of-the-art, and it's not a nursing home or assisted living place. The food was really good and I was always amazed with the quality of the food there. They tell you the choices on their menus early so that you can decide for the next few days or next week. You can mark down extra stuff, special items or substitutes available if you don't like anything they have that day."

"I toured The Middletown Home, but they have no openings for skilled nursing. It's very nice and very clean. The staff was excellent, giving us a tour. She was very helpful, but she wasn't the person that we had to deal with. She was just very kind and gave us a tour. The dining area is very unique to me. It reminded me of an old castle. They were having a tailgate party."

"My father is at Encompass Health Rehabilitation. The staff is very attentive. I don't have anything negative to say. They've been wonderful with my dad. He's doing physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy there. The room is big. He's eating their food, and he's very picky, so it must be good and he seems to enjoy it."

"My mom is staying in Fox Subacute at Mechanicsburg for rehab. The staff are not good. They're not meeting her care needs and not getting the therapy she needs. She fell out of bed one night, and they didn't come and get her right away. The cleanliness is good, but the food is terrible, and we provide all her food ourselves. She can't eat the food here. They need more consistent staff to help patients when they need it. They have some very good people and some people who don't seem to care, so it's a mix, and they change every day. Right now, she has an infection in her toe and they're saying, "We'll get you to see a doctor, but it's going to take several weeks." She has an infection, and I'm like, "It's not acceptable.""

"My Mother has been in the personal care wing at Kinkora since 2019. We are over the top pleased with her care and. Attitude toward life and how much she has improved since entering the facility. They have been able to ween off some very heavy pain medication that had created in her a very negative outlook and personality. Now, at 99, she is alert, mobile - with a walker, so pleasant to spend time with, very active as covid restrictions have allowed, and POSITIVE?!! The wrap around porch of the mansion has stunning river views, her room is sunny, pleasant and much larger than those at other area facilities we viewed. She was able to take her own furniture which were able to set up like her home. The cost is extremely competitive and the staff is great - knows us all and interacts with Mom well. "We visited a friend at Messiah Lifeways Mechanicsburg, PA. They have a lovely restaurant right on the campus. The restaurant is very nice. Delicious food. My friend has a two-bedroom apartment. She has a nice two-car garage, too. She uses her car on one side and the other is her storage. It's nice. It's all good. The staff seems very nice. The place is very nice and very attractive. With regards to activities, my friend is really happy with the activities. She has joined a couple of different things that she was interested in and it looks like she has a lot of choices. She is very pleased with it. She thought that it was very reasonable in terms of what she could afford and what she could expect from them. I think she is very happy with it so far."

"I was at Kadima Rehabilitation & Nursing At Campbelltown for therapy. The staff was great. The food could be improved on, but they have it tailored for everybody in the place, so they're limited in what they can do in terms of salt, seasonings, and stuff. They've been working on improving what they have there. The girls that ran the activities department were really good, and the people who did the therapy were good, but the kind of therapy was limited because of the kind of place that it was."
