I was at Golden LivingCenter for eight days. The staff was courteous, but they didn’t have enough help and had a lot of really old people. The room that I was in for rehab was not well kept, and the meals were fair. If you were staying there as a full-time person, they would plan local trips. They provided a hairdresser or a barber. They could improve on the coordination between departments from the hospital and the home.

The best thing about this facility was the physical therapy. The physical therapists seemed genuinely interested, friendly, caring and competent. Mom enjoyed working with them. They explained their plans and Mom's progress with me whenever I asked. They were very helpful when it came time to plan for her discharge and helping us figure out how to best support her when she got home. This is a one-floor facility with a lot of large windows, so the public areas are sunny and reasonably cheerful. The residents seemed to enjoy the food, although some who had difficulty eating didn't get much staff support that would have been very helpful to them. We did have some problems with medical staff contradicting each other regarding medications and infectious disease protocols. But everything eventually got straightened out. Regardless, she got terrific physical therapy at Golden Living Center and was discharged in 2 weeks with excellent discharge planning.
